I'm with Dungy. The Colts are not going to turn it over left and right.

Just want to echo how happy I was with the crowd. I think plenty of people snuck into the lower bowl (which is just fine by me). They were loud and completely drowned out the Nova people. Well, well done.

Just got back. Disappointing and frustrating as hell, but there's not much to say. From late in the first half, they just squeezed the life out of us. The kept it a slow, half-court game, never allowed us to run or get anything easy, and hit a bunch of backbreaking shots late in the shot clock.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but other than last year's easy win, they've been a pretty lousy matchup for us every other time. I know it was a trap game, letdown game, etc. But count me as someone who'd rather not see them in MSG. That didn't look like a fluke to me.

This stinks. I think it does even more to de-emphasize the importance of the regular season. Also, the tournament is tough enough academically for these guys, this would make it even harder. I am interested to see the logistics but this is just stupid. I am guessing that the top 32 teams get byes, then Tuesday and Wednesday we get 16 "first round" games each. Then you are down to 64 for Thursday. Otherwise, the top 32 would have a full week off which really wouldn't work. The first weekend of the tournament is fantastic right now. But by the time it's over, even the most die-hard fan is pretty worn out. Adding two more full days of mediocre to bad basketball is just crazy. Oh, and greedy too.

It'll give more coaches some job security, give even more money to the NCAA and it will make out new overlords at ESPN happy. Otherwise, it is a complete disaster. The regular season will mean what exactly?

No real way around it, we're getting manhandled. (And I got home right after the 14-0 start.) But God, I hate Syracuse.

Sorry, can't go with you there. I have a whole lot less of a problem with a guy trying to make a play to get you back into field goal range after some ridiculous play-calling and an unforgiveable penalty knocked you out of it. And the careless fumbles were much worse.

The last play isn't that clear at all. He throws it from just behind the 41. There was a safety and a linebacker spying him from just past the 31 and another rusher coming in from the side. Maybe he gets to the 35, but I don't think he'd have done very well in a foot race. Would have been the better move, but let's not make it seem like it was an easy play. And there were far, far worse plays by the Vikings all day.

The Favre interception doesn't even make my Top 5 (or maybe Top 10) worst Vikings plays. The fumbles were inexcusable and Chilly's decision to treat a 51 yard field goal on the road under extreme pressure as a sure thing were much worse to me. I don't have a problem if they spread it out and ran there. But they lined up like they were going for it on 4th and 1 and there was no room to run. Then the 12 men in the huddle penalty was mind-blowing.
I've seen Brett Farve make some truly insane decisions, but this wasn't one of them. The first receiver was covered on the sideline and there was a safety ready to drill him if he tried to run. They were out of field goal range and an incompletion would have meant the same outcome. Sure, in hindsight it is better to try to get two or three yards running and try a very long field goal. But that is not one of those crazy Farve decisions from the past.

We were tougher than they were in every way down the stretch. Huge!

Get the ball inbounds and make your free throws, and let's get out of here.

Yeah, the McCoy injury ended the game. Texas can't throw (to put it mildly) and Alabama went back to running the ball like they should have been doing all along. But if McCoy didn't get hurt, it wouldn't have shocked me if Texas got up 14-0. Then Alabama really could have abandoned the run and gotten killed. Now we get to watch the poor freshman get trampled. Ouch.

Who slipped Nick Saban the crystal meth? What on earth are they doing? 4th and 23 fakes and now he wants to throw every down. Long way to go, but if McCoy didn't get hurt, this looked like a Texas blowout. Still might be.

I thought Leach was a pretty funny guy. But if he did that, then he's a world-class fool. You don't punish kids for concussions, particularly after all the studies published this year. And you definitely don't do that to the son of the ESPN analyst scheduled to call your bowl game. And you REALLY, REALLY don't give an AD who hates you a reason to fire you with cause and not pay you. Wow. sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls09/news/story?id=4776848

This brings me back to watching Glenn Brenner at about 6:40 and George at about 6:50 each night growing up. Local sports is pretty much gone across the country, but we were extremely lucky. Still hard to believe that Brenner is gone, and this really ends the era. There can't be people like that anymore because the business won't allow it. And we really are missing out.

DFW... if you don't want to hear it, don't read the posts. It was a bad game. That's all. They were flat until halfway through the second half and careless with the ball. And they did, in fact, have a lot going on this week and had maybe one full team practice. ODU is decent. They shouldn't beat Georgetown on any week (even finals week). But they did. Just a bad game. Nothing more. Missing 7 of its last 8 free throws AT HOME is a huge red flag for this team. I think it's particularly going to be an issue with Monroe. He is on the line a bunch, and he's really struggling. I seem to recall that he was up about 75% in the middle of last year and he's gotten steadily worse since then.

Regardless of the names on the jerseys and the home court, this game was over 10 minutes in. ODU was light-years better tonight. Embarassing, but there's not much to be done about it now.

Well, we made the Final Four the last time we lost to this team. Hope that trend holds because this looks like the same game. 11 down at the half is a lot, and ODU looks like the much better team tonight. Ugh.
