After a year hiatus from the McDonough game, I'm extremely ready for this (and my finals will be over, so that's another plus). I'm really hoping we fill McDonough and rock ODU in our revenge game (I still hear the chants of "C-A-A, C-A-A, C-A-A" ringing in my head from 3 years ago)

I still love the ODU Monarchs logo.
There doesn't seem to be much else to say about their team this year.
I hope there'll be a decent student turnout on Saturday, especially among those seniors who remember that humiliating defeat their freshman year. From the Verizon games thus far though, the students haven't been as spirited as in previous years.

ODU has not been getting the job done this year. They've not had consistent scoring outside of Gerald Lee. Especially from the outside. So I think our defense can handle them. However, statistically they're the best defensive tema we've played besides temple. Temple is #1 in the nation in points allowed per game. ODU is #2 in the nation at 54.2. I'm excited to see how the offense runs in this game. Got my tickets in the mail the other day. Let's get some revenge on ODU. They're 2-0 all time in mcdonough this needs to be rectified. Let's go hoyas!

If we pull an upset this time around, I will personally buy McDonough and have it airlifted to Norfolk, and make sure we play all our games there for the rest of forever. Georgetown is too good for us right now; our offense is awful. GU by 20.

What's worse is that some of us still hear the chants of "What the Hell's a Hoya?" ringing in our heads from 1977.

From the Verizon games thus far though, the students haven't been as spirited as in previous years. Agreed. Students haven't been terrible, they haven't been fantastic yet either. It's still early in the season, and there haven't been any big matchups yet like Memphis last year. I'm pretty sure the students will be in full force for Big East play, especially with the Hoyas continuing to build momentum. Also hoping for a big, boisterous turnout at McDonough on Saturday. ODU... I think they fall somewhere in between a Mt. St. Mary's and a Temple. Not great, but not terrible. No letdown game here. Let's win by at least 15 and exorcise the demons of fall 2006.

I hope we lose. Every time we lose to ODU at McDonough we go to the Final Four.
What? Did I say something wrong?

ODU will be the best team we play OOC according to KenPom right now. He has them ranked #23, ahead of Butler (#30), Temple (#32) and Washington (#35). They have a top ten defensive efficiency and are very good at rebounding (18th in OReb% and 41th in DReb%) and cause turnovers (34th in Turnover %). kenpom.com/team.php?team=Old%20Dominion I haven't watched them, but their stats are both scary and indicate that they'll be a good test.

I'm guessing we go up by 20, surrender big runs in the last four minutes of each half, and win 72-65.

Yep, their stats are pretty scary. The thing is, they are entirely built up by some closer (but not super close) losses to good teams and complete blowouts of awful teams. The latter is something that can really skew a statistical predictive model because teams behave differently in blowout situations. I think ODU is better than 6-4 but worse than Kenpom.

From the Verizon games thus far though, the students haven't been as spirited as in previous years. Yes but based on the three home games they've had that's not surprising. Its hard to manufacture enthusiasm in an ugly game or a blowout of a bad team. I'm not sure what attendance will be like. Could be good

that's pretty fantastic that the 1990 Loyola Maramount team average 122 points a game.
