The defining characteristic of Georgetown basketball over the last decade has been players transferring out or leaving early when they have no realistic chance of being drafted into the NBA. I fervently wish for that to change.

I find the MSG PA announcer really annoying.

For the record, I don’t think race should have anything to do with it, either. I like Pitino lots as a coach. I just don’t think this administration agrees.

People bring up Pitino, and I think he’s a terrific coach. But there’s no way in hell that Georgetown was going to hire a white guy with some mistakes on his record to fill the chair they still see as John Thompson’s.

For those of you complaining, it's not exactly news that we're a bad team.

Wow, just learning about this. An absolute staple on this board whose often pithy comments on our favorite team always made me take notice.

The comparisons to Pitino are really unrealistic. There was no way in hell Georgetown was going to hire a white guy with a sketchy character record. While I personally think Pitino was the best coach available and I would have been excited to have him, that was never a real possibility at this university. Cooley seems to me to have a lot of positives going for him, including his candor IMO. I'm rooting for him.

There was a lot of discussion when Akok Akok left about how hard it was to graduate from Georgetown in 4 years when playing on a varsity level team all 4 years. Ryan is graduating at the end of this upcoming academic year, after just 3 years. While he did not get the playing time in his first two years, he was at all the practices and had all of the travel, but still took an academic load to graduate in just 3 years. He is very serious about his education and values a Georgetown degree highly. He plans to get an MBA in the 24-25 academic year while playing his 4th year of Basketball. He is clearly not the spoiled son of a rich, celebrity dad. He is the kind of athlete and person that Georgetown can be very proud of. Coach Cooley made him one promise - he will have a chance to play. That is all he wants, no other commitments. I hope his experience this year with Coach Cooley convinces him that his MBA should also come from Georgetown. Amen. Ryan should be considered for a captain.

Instead, we’re left with the yucky “Michael Jordan hit the winning shot” narrative.

No stats yet but sounds like Bristol has been really good today...one of many tweets... He was great, as was Rowan. Good day at Kenner for several Hoyas in the games I watched.
