If the shot to win the game is from 3-point distance, I want Reggie to shoot it, followed by JWall.

"your reliance on it to mask your ignorance and/or indifference to the games being played is a real bore . . ."
Could we please not take shots at each other here? Sports disagreements are fine, even fun at times. But I wish folks would stop making it personal with each other.

Anglin sounds like an academically smart kid. Hope he does well wherever he goes.

At least the announcers didn't harp on the '85 final last night!

Our program motto should be the same as the title of my all-time music album: No Guru, No Method, No Teacher.

I happen to love Dawn Staley as a basketball coach (heck, I remember liking her lots as a player). She is talented, a class act, and probably could be a decent coach of a men's team (maybe not yet at a P5/6 school) if she wanted. But I can't imagine that she would give up her outstanding current situation to come here and try to put out this dumpster fire. It would be too much of a gamble for us, anyway. Get Pitino or an up-and-coming men's coach who reflects the values we want to project and looks ready to step up and be successful.

In other words, if Pitino were Black he would be hired in a nanosecond. Sigh.

Dawn Staley is my new suggestion. I love what Dawn Staley has built at South Carolina, and I watch them often. But it's hard for me to imagine that she would give that up to start from scratch at Georgetown.

I have gotten where I can't stand Patrick as a coach (that "championship" belt is ridiculously tacky), but I'm really glad for the kids that they got this win. Hoya Saxa to them!
It's the only game all season that I didn't watch (I'm on vacation with limited TV access), so now I know what the secret is.

Weird that our NET is better than that of South Carolina, a team we lost to at home IIRC.

The player retention issue that DFW cites is huge in my opinion. Excellent college-level players with star potential clearly did not want to remain with Ewing (why?), and went on to do well elsewhere. (The Leblanc situation was a special case in my mind.) Wahab may have regressed a bit, unfortunately, but he seemed to have promise when he left. Even now, I open HT and IG somewhat reluctantly, fearing that I'll read about a new transfer. Our situation is not normal.
I'm a big college hoops fan, and I also follow other teams, though Georgetown is closest to my heart. I see so many other coaches actually drawing up plays during their timeouts rather than yelling platitudes. I want that for us in our next hire. I doubt that it will be Pitino (sadly), but surely we can find an up-and-comer with proven success who wants to move up a step.

More than one former player (no, I can't remember who exactly), when interviewed on the early Dawg Talk podcasts, said he initially thought Georgetown was an HBCU.

expectations are a limbo bar rolling around on the floor. That is such a great line that I simply have to highlight it. Well played!

I could live with #3 if we have to. It's better than this. I would prefer that someone have a heart to heart talk with Patrick and find the most dignified and classy way to bring about #1. #2 is possible but I don't think Nickleberry is likely to be the successor.

As bad as things are, Ewing has a BE tourney belt, and a NCAA bid in his five year tenure. Only one other BE team can match and better that stat over those five years . How many BE teams have not had a NCAA over the past five years? Just providing a lighthearted perspective to the gloom and doom on the board. Just to be clear, under Patrick's tenure the team won the conference tournament; a byproduct of that win was an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. So that's really one accomplishment - albeit a big one - not two. Every D1 team in the country that wins its conference tournament can claim that accomplishment.

I've been very close to a number of boards of both large and small nonprofit institutions, in one case as vice chair. In every case, while the boards had fiduciary standing, and sometimes outspoken members, the relationship with the administration and staff was overwhelmingly cooperative, not adversary. I was in charge of nominating new members in one case, and absolutely vetted candidates with the organization's president before presenting them to the board at large.

You and the other undead troll cultists are endlessly reposting the same bs you've been posting since last season. I presume this to be some kind of Syracuse bot farm, because if you were an actual person writing the stuff that you write day after day after day, it would be so hauntingly pathetic that I can't stand to consider the possibility. Good heavens, mods, is this kind of aggressive personal insult OK on this board? It wasn't directed at me but at someone who, in my opinion, is a pretty thoughtful poster. Regardless of the target, it's unacceptable to me and should be to you, as well.

If we were to have a scholarship available, the class move would be to bring Malcolm back. He's a good guy who may not be super-talented but paid his dues for Georgetown basketball during some horrible years. He didn't deserve to be kicked off the team.
