After 0-20, I’m ready for an overhaul. We’re not getting the correct overhaul. Let's wait and see if that is true or not. Adding Murray and Reid would be a great overhaul. Two immediate starters with three years of eligibility. That would in essence make our 2021 recruiting class Reid - Riley - Aminu - Mutombo - Murray which would be a top 10 class.

Poor kid. I'm sorry for him, hopefully he can enter the portal after next year and get out of that hellhole.

Billingsley might have been a solid player in his Junior/Senior year, I would have liked to keep Beard, but they can go find out a vet out of the portal to pair with Harris.
Good luck to Tim is all I will say.

Ricky Lindo is a perfect microcosm of the portal over prospects argument. He was a total project, Maryland took a flier, spent two years growing and doing nothing, moved on to GW, played very well and now teams want to pull him out of the portal as a finished project. Look at Henry Sims' career, that's a guy who transfers after his freshman or sophomore year in modern times, but stayed patient and had a great senior year instead. Many HS guys are going to have to start at the low and mid-major levels and work their way up. I agree with you, so in a sort of backwards way, will the portal actually help the mid-majors who will now be able offer fringy prospect type guys immediate PT with the idea that they can transfer out after their soph/junior years to have a finish somewhere major? The mid-majors become a quasi G league

Coaches could be fired before high school kids develop. 🤣 Ricky Lindo is a perfect microcosm of the portal over prospects argument. A backcourt next year of Harris-Beard-Anglin --- Aminu - Murray - Riley is just fine with me.
Pinson is a solid player on the defensive end and would be a really nice stop-gap if someone were to leave.

New Hoya Assistant Coach Kevin Nickelberry listed as Lamothe's lead recruiter from LSU. Nickelberry offered Lamothe in September and hosted him for an official visit in October.

My recollection is that we were all salivating at the thought of Murray playing for Georgetown, until he picked LSU. Freshman year stats look promising. Murray and Aminu on the wing would be very, very solid.

Okay now THAT is a guy that would get me excited about DC recruiting. Great article. Let's get him on board and bring Ward with him. Ward and Aminu on the wings would be a ton of fun.

We need very good, tough capable bigs that can supplement our small non-robust roster! Start with one and go from there!!! We have 3 guys that are 6'10"+, including two that will have been tutored under Patrick Ewing for 4 years and one that was a top 100 recruit, son of a Hall of Famer. What about those 3 guys? If you're saying they're not good enough, why did we recruit them, why haven't they developed under Ewing's tutelage and why are they still on the roster? I very much believe Mutombo has a great future in college basketball and I hope it is on the hilltop. Wilson and Ighoefe are not pieces that can contribute to a winning basketball team at this point. For the Hoyas to have any chance at a .500 season next year, they need a true starting 4/5 to go in rotation with Mutombo and hope that Mutombo progresses a ton this offseason on the defensive end.

Have to think Virginia Tech is the likely destination here with Mike Jones there.

Maybe we should try to get players from good teams. You wouldn't have taken RJ Cole, Freedom-Liberty or Ryan Hawkins? Just look in the BE alone this year and you will find numerous starters from not "good" teams as you put it. They fared better than the transfers from the power 5 schools. Totally agree. I have never seen Coleman play, but those numbers are very solid for a freshman at the D-1 level. Double doubles against LSU, A&M and Baylor. 54% from the field averaging a double-double. It's hard to think he wouldn't be an upgrade at whatever our 4 spot depth chart is at the moment.

All this talk on the board about talent trumps coaching. That said, there is no way in hell this team goes 0-20 under Wright or Cooley. Virginia Techhandles Duke 82-67... from ESPN.com: "Young led his teams to five Southern Conference Tournament titles in 17 seasons at Wofford. It only took him three season to get his first with Virginia Tech and he did it with a roster full of guys he recruited to play at his old school. Murphy and Keve Aluma (19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists) are both transfers from Wofford and Cattoor was set to go there out of high school before Young took the Virginia Tech job." A new head coach with winning college coaching experience brings players who fit his preferred style of play. The players follow him from one school in another state to the new school. With the right head coach, the program can be turned around pretty quickly. I am a VT undergrad who is pretty apathetic to the bball program because of my unfortunate love for the Hoyas.. Mike Young has done a terrific job, but he didn't exactly have to "turn the program around" the way a coach would have to with the Hoyas; Buzz Williams last season was a 26-9 season that ended with a trip to the sweet 16.

I'd be shocked if that doesn't happen. If there's a clear exit ramp, expect to see it taken. I’ve always assumed that he’ll declare for the draft, but, staying in school and going elsewhere would be a real slap in the face. Aminu really should stay in college another year. He is not ready to be an offensive contributor in the NBA. He is a very good college player and I think he has a future in the pros, but not next year. Not saying he wouldn't get drafted or anything, he is just a guy who could really use another year. I doubt it will be here though...

Furthermore, the 2019 team had THREE guys that are on NBA rosters currently and another that is an All American. Only one of them was a DMV kid (Pickett). Somehow that team didn't see an NCAA Tournament and then eventually fell apart. Doesn't seem like where the talent is coming from is the issue. The collapse of the 2019 season is the main reason we are in the mess we are currently in. That team was extremely talented and a lock to be playing in March until four players transferred mid-season. Even after the departures, if McClung doesn't get hurt, him and Yurt may have gotten the team into the tourney themselves. I will always think what could have been if that team had finished strong and led to years of good recruiting.

Watching the mid-major tournaments this week is fun because it is just a who's who of guys I wish were going to be the Georgetown Head Coach next year. It's an exercise of futility though I guess.. McMahon is the 1A from that group for sure. A guy I really love is coaching against Denzel Valentine tonight, Darian DeVries. Creighton coaching tree, took over a dumpster fire that would make the current Hoya program blush and has Drake playing terrific bball. He is a rockstar that some Big 10 team is going to hire, why not us? DeVries took over from Niko Medved at Drake, who was just there for 1 season. Missouri and Georgia fans appear to have Medved high on their wish lists.
Before Drake, Medved turned around Furman, and since, he's turned around a Colorado St. team that Larry Eustachy had left in real trouble. The Pomeroy rating improvements are elite. 342 >> 106 at Furman 224 >> 32 at Colorado St. This is the Hurley resume all over again. Except unlike Hurley, he's aw-shucksy and from the Midwest. Lunardi has Colorado St as a 7 seed right now. Some high major school that does a legitimate national search and wants to win will hire him. Medved will definitely be a hot name on everyone's list, but he left Drake in a mess, I think they only had four scholarship players when Devries got there after Medved bolted. He had to bring in a half dozen transfers and a recruiting class which he did and went 24-10 in that first year. Now that sounds like something we need to be able to do here..
