We need very good, tough capable bigs that can supplement our small non-robust roster!
Start with one and go from there!!!

We need very good, tough capable bigs that can supplement our small non-robust roster! Start with one and go from there!!! We have 3 guys that are 6'10"+, including two that will have been tutored under Patrick Ewing for 4 years and one that was a top 100 recruit, son of a Hall of Famer. What about those 3 guys? If you're saying they're not good enough, why did we recruit them, why haven't they developed under Ewing's tutelage and why are they still on the roster? |

Poor Hoyaboya! Fact is they havent developed nearly as quickly as I hoped they would. If you put characteristics of each into one, we would have one helluva player! Each have a great characteristic, but sadly, and I could be vrry wrong, they dont want "it" enough. It has nothing to do with Ewing!
I believe Mutumbo may get it one day, he's very young, but physically immature. This year was probably the greatest competition he's had in his entire life. He has to live in the gym and on the field running and jumping...on the steps and on a ladder on the ground, improving his footwork.
Malcolm has all the physical skills, but little technique. In my opinion he's a scholar trapped in a seven-footers body. I think if he really wanted "it" he could have it. He needs to play hard, and often and develop some skills. Ewing cant hand it to him... he's got to develop "it".
Igoeffe needs to get out of his own way. He's big and strong, but still awkward and not very confident. If he had confidence and was more strong willed, he would be deadly!!
So that's what we have. We need someone(s) who has some skills,confidence, that wants to be great, and wants to be at the next level, and is hungry, and relentless, maybe brash, but also a student, who can handle the classroom.
That someone can make this entire team better and raise the level of everyone on that team!!
Patrick cant give someone that, they have to have it themselves.
That's what I think, and its not on Patrick.....As he said to one of the recruits, he needs someone like himself, and maybe a Michael Graham, or one similar to mamy of the capable Hoya big men we've had, and a Jeff Green, Otto Porter, David Wingate or the great small forward from Baltimore Reggie Williams!

Igoeffe cannot dribble, shoot or pass after three years at this level. He will never be "deadly" even if he were the most confident and strong-willed player in the history of college basketball. |

I very much believe Mutombo has a great future in college basketball and I hope it is on the hilltop. Wilson and Ighoefe are not pieces that can contribute to a winning basketball team at this point. For the Hoyas to have any chance at a .500 season next year, they need a true starting 4/5 to go in rotation with Mutombo and hope that Mutombo progresses a ton this offseason on the defensive end. |

Agree with your assessment plus those three men are Centers and the big gap we have to fill is at the Power Forward. Holloway can be an effective 3 off the bench but is not a 4. JBill could mature into one but has a way to go to get there. The won we had on the roster for that position made a mistake, through no fault of Ewing, and had to leave Georgetown. The most important thing for next season is to bring in an experienced, proven, tough PF that can defend against the other BE 4’s, be a strong rebounder, and spread the floor on offense with the ability to hit open 3’s so our slashers are not double teamed at the basket. Players with those credentials are not lined up begging for a scholarship but we did sign one last year who appeared to have all of those capabilities. Our top priority needs to be to find a good candidate with those credentials who wants to go to school at Georgetown and play for our team. |

Once again, poor Pat Ewing. He just can’t catch a break. He does everything right but the guys around him just don’t want to listen to him or just don’t have what it takes to operate at his level. |

Apparently not :/ but in the defense of this interjection, acting like somehow it isn't Ewing's fault that the bigs he got haven't worked out or are clogging up the roster, is a very biased position that blames players (which is unfair considering you don't actually know the details of their lives, or practices) while ignoring that the coaches are ones who gave them team spots and are supposed to motivate them. There is no GM to blame here. I don't want to hate on Wilson or Tim but they would not likely get significant minutes on any other BE team. Having a 4 that fits the mold size, skill, and experience-wise would be very helpful for next season. Look at juco or D2 if necessary but actually make realistic assessments of where the players are and how they could perform at the BE level And to your point about Pat needing another version of himself as a player, yeahhhh if a coach needs the number one recruit overall to just get even over .500 in the conference, then he can't coach (in case this isn't clear enough go count how many BE and tournament teams have 5 star players, it really isn't hard to see this). He assembled this group of centers to be the future, how is them not being good enough (or motivated enough) not PE's fault at all? Please like I wanna know in case I am missing something |

Play 1-3-1 defense and experiment with twin towers. Just need a strong leader and communicator on the back line and a feisty guard at the top. This would eliminate any pick and rolls and keep our bigs on the floor.

Unfortunately, the one guy willing to experiment with a zone for more than a possession at a time was only able to do so when the head coach was out with COVID, and then he wasn't allowed to once said head coach returned. And again, any notion of landing impact players, whether a capable big, a strong leader/communicator on the back line, a feisty guard up top, etc... you need a functioning staff to recruit those types of guys. Until we figure out the staff vacancies, you are asking a bunch of empty chairs to help bring in better players. |

I woul love to see Mutombo progress a ton. He has good ideas, I would like to see him grow and develop. He may have the ego to go to work and deliver. |

No, the only thing that matters is getting a new coach. 9797 even if everyone agreed it doesn't make a difference. We are stuck with Ewing for at least one more year... It doesn’t mean we should stop talking about what a disgrace that is and how hopeless the future is with Ewing at the helm. |

I only made a sarcastic reference to Ewing being characterized as the worst coach in the history of college basketball. My request was just to have a discussion that was not all about Ewing. Your response was to criticize me for defending Ewing when I only took exception to making him responsible for King’s mistake. You can disagree with that opinion in am]ny of the many threads that exist only to criticize Ewing, but Ihave equal rights to express my opinion on that topic.
It is very discouraging that 9797 came right out and said that every thread needs to be captured and turned into another attack on Ewing. Instead of responding to my request to gave a discussion that is not just about Ewing, you criticized me for things I never said.
