Reading the boards over on Maryland's 247 page, this one sounds like it's all but done. Unofficial this past weekend and apparently taking an OV again today. Their people are extremely confident, 2 insiders put up crystal balls. Huge bummer.

Realistically, I want to be in the middle/upper middle of the big east and to be considered a bubble team all year long.
As important as on-court performance, I want the majority of this group to stay together and not continue to be this revolving door. I know times have changed and kids will transfer, but we can't be adding/subtracting 6-8 players every season.

If he could have been purely the energy and rebounding guy, but a 3rd or 4th option on offense, I think even a one year Aminu may have gone down as one of the all time favorites for many Hoyas fans. Unfortunately, that was not the case. In any event, if he is willing to be that type of player at the next level, he may well make a nice niche for himself. I thought all year that if Aminu had been the 6th man on a top 25 team, he would have been a fantastic piece.

Yuck. Two gross options. I hope he chooses Clemson so I can root for him.

Nice size, 3 star kid coming from Oak Hill. Didn't do much last year, but he could be a rotational big behind Akok/Mutombo and hopefully Holloway if that ship hasn't sailed. Looks like he could be a small ball 5

The staff better land Q, Osunniyi or Mballa. Either that, or they have some wild Plan B (that no one knows about). I'm all for small ball, but you can't roll with Akok, Ryan and Wilson as the only guys over 6'7 (Akok still being an injury concern). Osunniyi also seems highly unlikely, so our options are THIN! I see Q keeps getting mentioned in various threads, is that actually a possibility? I know he is in the portal, but I haven't seen anything linking him back to us. Mballa would be great, and I really wish Holloway would just come back home. Osunniyi seems like a big long shot.

I guess I am in the minority but I am not really thrilled with Anselem. I think he's very athletic, good rebounder probably can be a solid defender...but he just feels like a better version of Malcolm Wilson. Has a minimal offensive game, can't play the 4 and was a fringe Top 200 player in his class and hasn't really done much to prove that number wrong. Not that I was really a Tim fan but certainly doesn't feel like a substantial upgrade other than maybe his athleticism he's a better fit in general to whatever our game plans is this year. I do not think you are in the minority here. I would rather get a guy like Okafor who has produced at the college level and is a little older. We don't need more projects, we need guys who can fill a box score. I think a combo of Anselem and a more veteran guy would be fine, but he can not be the only big we add.

Really hope the staff goes after Mballa, transfer from Buffalo. And if they don't, it better be because they have a good feeling about Efton Reid or Manny Bates. Mballa would be the perfect fit. Thankfully, this staff seems to be going after the exact kind of guys you hope they would, it's just about closing the deal now. I feel like Reid has gone cold and would have popped by now if he was going to come here, no inside info or anything, just think he would have committed around when Murray did. Mballa would be a great fit.

Okafor seems like a great and realistic fit. Veteran guy who has played a ton of D-1 Bball and produced some good numbers.
It's exciting to get the high ranked recruits who haven't produced yet at their first school and are looking for a fresh start, but this team needs guys who are grown men and can fit a specific role. Okafor would be in a 4 rotation with Holloway (and maybe Akok) and give us flexibility to play small ball, great fit. Hope he comes to the hilltop.

I'm glad the Hoyas aren't on a top 30 list like that. Focus on the guys who are interested and close the deal.

Akok would be our best big since Monroe, better than Govan and Yurtseven. IMHO. I think people really don't appreciate how good Yurt was, some of those people being you.

In the Zagoria article -- "Georgetown has lost four players to the Transfer Portal and is also losing freshman Aminu Mohammed to the NBA Draft" I wouldn't say that is definitive by any means though, he is just saying that he has declared. I have to disagree. It may be right or it may be wrong, but “losing” seems pretty definite to me. It seems way more like a throwaway lazy journalism move than anything definitive. That is probably how a lot of people would write it right now, instead of specifying that he can indeed come back. He is not providing any new/inside info.

So Zagoria is declaring that Aminu is definitely leaving? Where did you see this? Not doubting it, just curious In the Zagoria article -- "Georgetown has lost four players to the Transfer Portal and is also losing freshman Aminu Mohammed to the NBA Draft" I wouldn't say that is definitive by any means though, he is just saying that he has declared.

As a Hoya fan first, Hokie fan second (I could actually get into VT), no we absolutely should not. What's the inside info? I only watched a few VT games this year but he seemed solid. No inside info, I have just watched a ton of his games and do not think he is a particularly good player. I guess given our situation, a contributor on an NCAA tournament team is someone we can definitely use, but I don't rate him very much so I hope we can do better. He can get hot from the outside on occasion and plays hard, but I always thought he was kind of a black hole on offense. Decent wing defender and a versatile enough player that I am sure he has a role off the bench here, but I would expect him to go the A-10/C-USA route.

Absurdly big for Pat. Prob best 2-guard prospect in nation. Land Huntley Hatfield and keep Dante and Aminu, and GU would have a full deck next season. I don't think Pat is the answer, but Murray is the most talented GU player since Monroe. Yes, sorry Otto. Outrageous to say Murray is more talented than Otto who was in the running for NPOY before being the #3 overall pick, but I am thrilled to have Murray on board. Murray-Aminu + Riley-Bristol is a top of the Big East level group of wings. Just need to find some guys around them now.

I know these are desperate times, but getting the backup PG from a 9-24 Northwestern State team is NOT the way we get out of the cellar. He needs to be option Z in the transfer portal, no offense to the kid.

Let's wait and see if that is true or not. Adding Murray and Reid would be a great overhaul. Two immediate starters with three years of eligibility. That would in essence make our 2021 recruiting class Reid - Riley - Aminu - Mutombo - Murray which would be a top 10 class. I think he is stating the overhaul should have been as the head coach level versus the players... Okay well, no argument here, but that hasn't happened so it's time to move on. At least until the end of next season..
