Wings and tings. We need some competent bigs to do work in the middle. Lots of visitors. Close the deal on the right ones, then build a strong team, dont be a revolving door. Recruiters, show your skills! Please.

Really hope the staff goes after Mballa, transfer from Buffalo. And if they don't, it better be because they have a good feeling about Efton Reid or Manny Bates. Mballa would be the perfect fit.
Thankfully, this staff seems to be going after the exact kind of guys you hope they would, it's just about closing the deal now.

I feel like Reid has gone cold and would have popped by now if he was going to come here, no inside info or anything, just think he would have committed around when Murray did. Mballa would be a great fit.

Mballa would be a great fit. Reid's recruitment was weird last year, and is strange again. Wouldn't be surprised if he were one of the last transfers to commit... again. Bates at C, Mballa at PF, with another 4/5 guy like Akok or Anselem (bi-partisan) would be frickin' great. Not counting on that, but even 2 of those guys with SRBig would be really good.

I like Sy Chatham but I really don't know much about him other than his stats

Where the hell are the bigs? We need two competent 6-9+ players, dawgs....guys who can really play! We have enough wings and guards...we need skill, muscle and size in the front court. Come on Pat, pull some rabbits out of the hat from somewhere on the globe!!!!!

Any news? Rumors? Something to focus instead of obsessive speculation about Brooks?

Looks like a three guard line up - it can work.

Hilltop Hoops reported that G’Town offered Ward a $200k NIL package, but it wasn’t as much as LSU’s. Whether that’s true, who really know, but if that’s the kind of money we CAN offer, there’s no excuse why we can’t go after Mballa, or an Osunniyi and possibly land them. Akot and one of those two, and we’re in business.
Our guards/wings are actually pretty strong — but we’ll need the Jay Heath waiver.

Looks like a three guard line up - it can work. It could work if you have quality big men. Right now, even giving Ryan* the benefit of the doubt that he is a 20 minute player next year, we have 60 minutes and 3 bigs to add to be competitive. * And I like Ryan and think he will be all BE 1st or second team as a senior

A zone (1-3-1) (coaches are scared to try this defense) will work with Malcom and Ryan and three competent combo guards.

Correct - but at least in a zone you can buy more minutes if we control the boards, alter or block some shots and kick out good passes to our guards for quick baskets. Then our bigs would not have to run as much. I know wishful thinking. What did AI say "practice".

If NOVA can do it without 7 footers year after year - I believe we can to with the right approach. I'll bank on our speed at this point. Hopefully the new parts of the coaching staff are up to the challenge.

There’s a big difference between not having 7 footers and not having anybody above 6’7 or 200lbs plus. We can’t trot out Mutombo and a bunch of wings and guards. Need at least a couple of PF types.

Exactly!! I like Ryan and I think he will show some real improvement this season, but the team needs a few 6'8" - 6" 10" guys who are athletic and physical to help rebound and defend in the post. If those bigs can add some additional scoring either in the post or as a rim runner, then all the better. I don't think you need 3 traditional old school centers, like the Hoyas had last year, but you do need some height/length and some strength to compete in the physical Big East

Well at this point we don't have a choice. If no power forward answers the call sounds like a good coaching staff will put whomever is on the roster in the best position possible for success. In your scenario why even compete - but I say to those that stayed and those new comers leave everything on the floor and your efforts will be appreciated. Also daymondmyles thanks for your feedback and perspective.
