When did they start emphasizing the "Junior"? "They" was Otto - he asked Sports Information to use the Jr. shortly after the season started, as that is how he was referred to growing up. He also asked them to refer to his actual hometown of Morley rather than Sikeston.

MSM run and jump press has been very effective because we are trying to attack it the same way without making adjustments. MSM is guarding the initial ball reversal, wanting our guards to bring it up where they can trap right inside the half court line. We are playing right into it by dribbling up at a deliberate pace and walking right into the trap. If guys are going to dribble across half court they either need to get all the way to the wing or find where the trap is coming from and get it to the open guy before the trap is set. I've noticed we've been able to pass across halfcourt to Nate at the top of the key a few times a few times. We may be able to actually attack their pressure with some give and go situations there.

I'm surprised no one is commenting on Crean basically not guarding Trawick during that run and on forward...He had watford just sit in the post mans lap and dared Trawick to shoot. that was after he realized he couldn't have hulls on him cause Trawick just took him to the cup. Prior to that he made the adjustment of sinking Zeller off Lubick to just in front of the rim...almost like a 1 man zone, which clogged up all backdoor passing lanes and prevented Otto & Greg from posting their smaller defenders on the block. It also allowed his other 4 defenders to essentially face guard and overplay the perimeter passing lanes, pushing the offense further out. These adjustments are going to be thrown at us all year, so we need to find ways to counter. In these situations I would love to see the guards/wings look to penetrate off the dribble either thru handoffs or straight pick and rolls with the guy who is being sagged off of (in this case Lubick or Jabril). If the other team is backed off the screener, there is nobody there to hedge and stop penetration.

Was told the Doctors will let him know Wednesday if he can play or not. The issue seemed to be with his eye....couldn't focus/sensitive to light.

I was told Otto's issue is with his eye. He couldn't see well at all after it happened....was having trouble focusing and a sensitivity to light. My guess is that it is a scratched cornea. Supposed to find out on Wednesday if he can go.

Bobby Bancroft @bobbybancroft Won't know about Porter until after the game per #Hoyas SID but it appears he's done tonight.

Otto came out about the 12:00 min mark and apparently went back to the locker room with the training staff to check out his eye. I never saw him come back to the bench. Hopefully it isn't too serious.

Yikes! He has to relax and not force it. Agree 100%. Last year included, he goes from too ends of the spectrum.....either too passive or too anxious. Needs to let the game come to him. Don't rush himself when he does get the ball.

My take is that we played a half of basketball on a boat. That's really all I got. +1

Yes. Need to get to the line too. Great point. Zero FTs in the 1st half.

While I am not a big fan of Van Gundy, he's absolutely right about getting the ball inside. Florida is not really having to work on defense with the ball simply moving back and forth on the perimeter. There have been several times guys have been open at the free throw line, but not noticed until the defense has recovered. I love seeing Otto flash in there, but it does seem that Florida is shading toward him. I'd like to see some rotation in that area....flash Otto, rotate him out if he is not open and replace with Nate...or even Whit/Jabril .....just keep moving those guys in and out of the area. However, if the guards aren't going to focus on getting the ball there it is not going to matter.

So who is the first guy off the bench?
My Guess: Jabril

Just found this tweet from Florida beat writer:
Jason Lieser @pbpjasonlieser UF says delay in Ohio State vs. Marquette game could push back tipoff time for Florida-Georgetown. NBC Sports Network airing both.

Best Case scenario is Marquette game is canceled at this point. Can't push our game back to much. It's a late start as it is. Also can't really delay to another day since we playa again sunday. Great minds think alike.....seems yours just thinks a minute faster than mine.

Whats going to happen if this Ohio State-Marquette game is actually played now that there has been a 30 min delay? Will the start time on our game be moved back or will we just end up missing the entire first half? My prediction: they wait and start this game around 8 or 8:15 and we miss most of the Hoyas game. No good. Best case scenario is that the Carrier Classic isn't played at all. From the report they just gave, it doesn't appear like we are having any problems in Jacksonville and will start on time.

The Princeton Offense was not the problem....the problem was the players running it. There were times when it seemed like only 3-4 players knew what was going on and other times where those who weren't getting it seemed frustrated and did their own thing.
One thing about the offense is if someone is out of place or not on the same page, the spacing and/or continuity can get totally screwed up and cause the offense to stagnate. IMO, the Lakers need to find a balance by using Princeton Principles while also utilizing their new pieces in Howard and Nash effectively. Nash is the type of player who can run any offense, but he is most effective with the ball in his hand running the pick and roll. They need to find a way to get him in positions to be able to run the pick and roll with Pau, preferably without having to reset the offense halfway through a possession. With Howard, they just need to keep him around the bucket as much as possible.
