Here's a few mentions from the last 2 days on Derrickson
Hoop Group @thehoopgroup Paul VI's Marcus Derrickson is a man-child. He just posterized his defender with a one-handed thunderous slam! The place erupted. #BeElite
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 2015 forward Marcus Derrickson is a monster. Paul VI big man will be a menace if he refines his face up game.
Steve Keller @stevekellernrr 6'7 '15 Marcus Derrickson of Fairfax Paul IV has future NBA star written all over him. Size/lift/speed/jumper/Is there something I'm missing
Hoop Group @thehoopgroup Marcus Derrickson listed his offers yesterday: Indiana, Georgetown, Miami-FL, Rutgers, Virginia and Va Tech. Interest from UNC, Kansas &more
Dave Telep @davetelep If I could have 3 from Hoop Group Underclass game I'd take Shavar Newkirk, Marcus Derrickson and either B Crawford or Terry Larrier

Towns played the 4th quarter for the Dominican Republic in Team USA's first game leading up to the Olympics. He knocked down a 3 right off the bat in Anthony Davis's face, had a couple of rebounds, and made a nice no-look behind the back assist from the high post to the wing. I was very impressed how aggressive he was....not at all in awe by who was on the floor with him. There was a play on the break where he hammered/blocked Davis to prevent getting posterized and another time where he nearly body slammed Deron Williams while sealing him off to allow a teammate get to the rim. Towns still has a ways to go as far as catching up with his body and developing a better low post game....but for 15 years old he's already pretty d*mn good.

As mentioned, Porter impressed me a lot with his outside shot. He ran well and played above the rim. Definitely one of the camp's standout performers. I'll have more news for you guys tomorrow... Thanks James. Appreciated the twitter updates you provided us.

Regarding Noel's finances, if I remember correctly wasn't it said that his father was the one who paid for his unofficial trips? And isn't his father a cab driver in the Boston area? When your job entails receiving cash tips, it seems like a pretty easy way of hiding where the money you received came from.

Clarkson will take Mizzou's 13th scholarship and they are out of the running for Pollard. From what I understand, about a week ago or so things were suddenly starting to look good....the word then was that it was down to Mizzou and Bama. Then within the last few days, things started going the other way and last I heard is that it is going to be Bama.

I don't get overly impressed very easily...but d@mn. Physically, the kid looks like he has great body control and footwork, agility, and a huge wingspan. The thing that stood out to me is how many different things he can do. Whoever cut his highlight video should be applauded because he shows something a little different in each clip. What impressed me the most was how comfortable he looked handling the ball when he needed to. And even though he's going against kids 5 inches shorter than he is, I really like that he actually will go to the block and make basketball moves rather than just try to overpower the defender. The jumper doesn't look bad either and is just icing on the cake.

I am not understanding this whole "pollard is a 4" talk. From the game film and highlights I've seen of him, the kid is just a player. He can handle the ball, shoot the 3, finish at the rim, and defend in the paint. The one thing I would like to see more is how he can handle defending a wing on and off ball. He's got all the tools to be a defensive stopper, just didn't see him in a whole lot of scenarios where he was asked to do more than just defend the rim (which he does very well).
If you just have to put a number by the kid's name, I'd say he would be a 3. He's even more of a 3 than Otto was coming out of high school....penetrates from the wing better, is more comfortable shooting the 3. With that being said, if he is on the floor with Otto i don't really think it matters who is considered the "3" or the "4" because both players would be used both to post up smaller defenders as well as spot up from the wing to knock down shots or facilitate the high or low post . And if you got into a situation where you are facing a zone, I would want Devonta on the wing with Otto roaming the high post because I think it would maximize both of their skill sets (Otto's midrange and Devonta's better penetration ability).

Even though they would still love to have him, there have been some message board rumblings from "those who would know" that Mizzou may be backing off a little due to some other circumstances. Apparently, the staff was informed that there is a good chance Phil Pressey will put his name in for the draft after next season. If that were to happen, Mizzou would be without any experienced point guards and only a 3* player set to come in that year. And with Oriahki now coming in, Mizzou is left with 1 available scholarship to give out for next year. I think if Devonta told them tomorrow he wants to be a Tiger, the staff takes him. But at the same time, I don't think they will wait forever for him either.
One name that has been floated around is Josiah Turner, a former 5* point guard who is transferring from Arizona. If he came to Mizzou, he obviously would have to sit out next year, but more importantly he would be able to step right in the following year and take over for Pressey when/if he leaves early. Mizzou has some good connections with Turner already through current MU player Jabari Brown and Asst Coach Tim Fuller. Brown and Turner played on the same AAU team while Fuller was the lead recruiter on Turner when he was at Louisville.
I don't know what kind of time frame Turner has in mind, but if he does decide to come to Mizzou before Pollard makes a decision, my guess is they take him.

Boumtje, don't get gunshy because a couple of posters held you personally accountable for the recruitment of a teenager. Not like you were only person who was saying all looked good for Hoyas. Appreciated your input and understand how it goes. Agree 100%.

That game is the main event at the JBC and is also being shown on ESPN. The JBC Regional game is the one that Bolden is in and it is being played right now.

I really hope Otto is hosting for this visit. From what I can tell, their personalities and background are very similar. Pollard appears to be a very soft spoken kid from a rural area, is apparently very involved in his church, seems to steer away from trouble or attention, and comes from a very close-knit family who just happens to be really good at playing basketball. When Otto decided to go to Georgetown, everyone was obviously excited for him but also worried how he would be able to adjust to living in a large city so far away from home. But over the last year he has not only adjusted to his new surroundings but has thrived. I really think that seeing another kid in a similar situation do as well as Otto has would be a huge benefit.
