He and Karl Towns would make a nice frontline combo for '15.

Fantastic news.
Derrickson looks and plays like a kid beyond his years. I know JTIII saw him in person at the NHSHF back in December and Derrickson - in my opinion - was more impressive than Kennedy Meeks.
If he grows a few more inches, you're looking at a monster.

Him and Kennedy are quite different players though, no? Or are you just speaking from an overall talent perspective?

Who was the first Freshman 3 has offered? I'm fairly certain the only other freshman he offered was Austin Freeman.

Whether he grows more inches or not, Derrickson *will be* a monster. I saw him 6 or 7 times this year, and he's the real deal w/ 3 yrs of HS ball ahead to get even better.

"Marcus Derrickson (Team Takeover 2015) – My first look at Derrickson certainly won’t be my last. The 6’7” freshman forward is a future high major beast. He has apparently lost 30-35 pounds over the last year and is has clearly made a big difference. Derrickson is too strong for defenders inside at the 15U level finishing over, around, and through anyone that stood in his way. He also flashed a developing jump shot making one deep ball and showing great form on the shot. Derrickson has MAJOR upside and looks like a surefire top 100 player down the road.” www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0407/nj-playaz-spring-fling-report-part-ii/#more-12382

www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0711/hoop-group-elite-camp-tuesday/Marcus Derrickson (Team Takeover 2015) – The best long term prospect I saw at this event, Derrickson is a man among boys despite playing against older competition. The 6’7” combo forward toyed with defenders throughout game play on Tuesday looking his best as a facilitator from the post. Derrickson had the skill and strength to score at will from the block but chose to get teammates involved by using his vision from the post to find shots for others. He easily played to his national top 10 ranking and may even have room to move up as he is currently #8 in the NBE Class of 2015 Pre-July Live Period Top 15.

Sounds like a Hoya blueprint. We should be so lucky.

Here's a few mentions from the last 2 days on Derrickson
Hoop Group @thehoopgroup Paul VI's Marcus Derrickson is a man-child. He just posterized his defender with a one-handed thunderous slam! The place erupted. #BeElite
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 2015 forward Marcus Derrickson is a monster. Paul VI big man will be a menace if he refines his face up game.
Steve Keller @stevekellernrr 6'7 '15 Marcus Derrickson of Fairfax Paul IV has future NBA star written all over him. Size/lift/speed/jumper/Is there something I'm missing
Hoop Group @thehoopgroup Marcus Derrickson listed his offers yesterday: Indiana, Georgetown, Miami-FL, Rutgers, Virginia and Va Tech. Interest from UNC, Kansas &more
Dave Telep @davetelep If I could have 3 from Hoop Group Underclass game I'd take Shavar Newkirk, Marcus Derrickson and either B Crawford or Terry Larrier

I think that’s the first time I’ve seen someone take a charge in a AAU highlight reel….
