UK still wanted him, but Mizzou's pg Phil Pressey is one of Oriahki's best friends. He's been recruiting him nonstop.

One thing to consider is that both Mizzou and Kentucky are going very hard after Alex Oriahki. UK has the Driscoll/Nerlens connection but one of his best friends is Mizzou's pg Flip Pressey. Even though Oriahki isn't the same type of player that Pollard is, he will be an immediate starter for either program and take one of the available forward spots in the lineup. Here is an article about his interest in Mizzou. www.nbcconnecticut.com/blogs/dog-house/Oriakhi-Counting-the-Days-to-Mizzou-Visit-146989545.html

Really hope III can work some magic this weekend. I think there will absolutely be starter minutes available for Devonta, and I think he can be an incredible player for us. It'll be a tough battle to win. Im not saying that minutes arent available but at GTown he will have to work to get them. Which might be better for his overall game but worst for his stats. At Mizzou there isnt a 3 on the roster and they have Bowers coming back to play the 4 and they recruited a true 5. DP would step on campus as a starter from day1 at Mizzou. You cant say the same at GTown............ Actually Mizzou's best player next year will be newly eligible transfer 6'5" Earnest Ross who will be a wing in their system. From all accounts, he was the 2nd best player (behind Denmon) on the team last year and would kill the 1st team in scrimmages. You add him with transfer Keion Bell (avg 16ppg over 3 years at Pepperdine), Bowers, Pressey, Dixon and former 5 star recruit Jabari Brown (who will be eligible in January) and Mizzou has a pretty good core of returning players. Now that doesn't mean Pollard won't start or get a lot of minutes, just that he will likely be the 2nd-4th scoring option at any time when he is on the floor.

BE is still loaded...Just saying on these expectations...Pitt has Steven Adams coming in, that kid is a program changer and scored 24 pts on Nerlens in a game this year. Ville has a strong team. I saw that game in person. Adams is legit.

If he comes to Georgetown, O/U is 250 when you take into account the crazed UK fans who descend upon us like locusts. If he doesn't, we nuke this thing back to zero and pretend it never happened. Agreed.

Evan Daniel's Recent tweet:
Georgetown has Devonta Pollard headed to their campus on Sunday. IF they were able to reel in Nerlens Noel, their chances w/ Pollard go up.

I finally got around to reading Nerlens latest blog and something jumped out at me. I apologize if this has already been discussed since yesterday, but the comment I am talking about is this:
I talked to (Kentucky assistant) coach Orlando (Antigua) after they won and he was really happy, of course. He said that all he could think about was me being a part of something like that next season.
The reason this jumped out at me is because March 29th-April 5th is a recruiting dead period. Could it be that a member of John Calipari's staff committed a recruiting violation?

With Indiana looking like a preseason top 5, there will be a great opportunity to make a big jump early on.

SIAP....Jerry Meyer from Rivals posted earlier today on the recruiting message board he's "hearing from more than one reliable source that Shabazz will end up at UCLA."

IMO...He wouldn't mention Coach Kirby as someone that would make him reconsider putting MSU back on his list if he didn't really like and respect him. And if he really likes and respects Coach Kirby, then he wouldn't make a decision until after he went on an official visit to Georgetown. I think he was originally wanting to make a decision around April 11th, but that was assuming he was able to get all his visits in. I don't think the date is as important to him as making sure he is 100% confident his decision is the right one.

Devonta's recruitment seems to have some similarities to Otto's.....from a small town... quiet, family oriented kid....just had the coach of one of the teams recruiting him leave at the last minute......a connection through Kirby. I just hope the result ends up being the same.

Not sure if this has been mentioned about Shabazz, but his sister is an average (at best) professional tennis player who just happens to be sponsored by Adidas. Maybe Shabazz wants to get away from the appearance of impropriety by signing with Nike, I don't know.
