A reminder to folks that the game is on NBCSN, not ESPN. Yesterday, Stan Van Gundy was named as the color commentator.
The GUHoyas schedule page (oddly) currently lists the game as not being televised.

I always love when the mods post as Admin.
1. It usually (not in this case) means someone's in trouble!!
2. I get to see Dean Vernon Wormer.
;D
Go Hoyas!!
Revenge for the Sweet 16 game we should have won!

Hell, it's Billy Donovan, so revenge for the '87 regional final we should have won.

Matchups? Starks-Wilbekin Whit-Boynton Otto-Rosario Hopkins-Young Lubick-Murphy pretty much. lubick v. murphy should be fun since they're old teammates.

If they try to guard Otto with Rosario they're in for a world of pain. Yeguette is probably the best match up for Otto on the Florida roster - undersized 4 with good athleticism.
We will see guys move around on defense as always. I hope Patric Young hasn't developed any offensive game in the off-season and doesn't pull a Thomas Robinson on us. He's really strong and athletic but can't really do anything with the ball other than catch and dunk.

Only had 4 points in the exhibition Nyc and reports are offensively he looked the same..
We need to pound this guys inside, No way they can guard both Otto and Greg on the interior.

Wouldnt be too surprising to see us go small to match their lineup and come out:
Starks Trawick (or DSR) Otto Mikael Lubcik

I think it's far more likely we go big and take advantage of the mismatches, especially because Whitt can guard pretty much any position 1-4 on the floor and I think he provides much more offensively than Trawick does. DSR isn't going to start, III isn't known for starting freshman, I don't even think Otto started the first game of the season, but I think he gets plenty of playing time coming in as the back up PG.

Well of course its more likely to start our best 5, but Boynton and Rosario aren't chopped liver. It's going to be challenging/tiring to try and stay in front of them either way.
Whoever's a "starter" doesn't matter as much as getting the right matchups out there. And you "dont think" Otto started from day one? Which team are you following?
Again, I think its highly unlikely, but it wouldn't be a bad coaching move to give Jabril the nod to help set the tone.

I doubt we stay in man very long anyway. Oh and I don't know you and you don't know me, so can we keep personal attacks to a minimum? I find it pretty silly and quite immature to question what team I do or don't follow because I can't remember if it was the first game or the 5th that Otto started. Trawick is a good defender but I think Whitt is better and his length would make things difficult for a smaller guard.

I'd be shocked if we don't look to play about 70% zone and a variety of matchups. question will be at this stage how well we can play it. Given the inexperience i'm not counting on the defense being anything close to what may be in january.

Yeah I wouldn’t go small to match up against them, only one that’s ok off the bounce is Boynton. Add to that fact the game is outdoors and Florida relies on good 3 point shooting that could be affected by mother nature and I say go big, pound them inside, and use our length to close out on their shooters..
