I think the issue with the Carrrier Dome has to do with depth perception. The place is huge and there is no background. Remember that our Frosh and Sophs had never been there. The last time Green and Roy were there was Jan 05 (a loss in overtime)

Last night's game normally would have been the loss that Air Jordan was looking for. It had all the makings of an upset: looking ahead, tough emotional game against Nova, road game against a team that had nothing to loose etc. Yet this is a very good team and we won it.
Air Jordan count this as your loss and lets start another streak.
Go you HOYAS!!!

I thought we were getting beat up a little on the boards and not getting the calls. I turned to my son and said it is time to put Patrick in and let him shake things up. JT3 must have heard me because as soon as I got that out of my mouth in comes Patrick, hit a 3 and was mixing it up a bit under the boares. I think his energy woke us up. He was the turning point of the game. Great game by Sapp and Green also. I was sitting behind the basket and I knew Sapp's shot was in from the time it left his hand. Great shot.
I still wish we would attack the basket when we break the zone and almost always have the numbers. It is the only way they will stop throwing it at us.

Who's next after AI? AI has only a few more years left as an all-star, and as much as I like Green and Roy, I don't see them as NBA all-stars in time to keep the streak going.

I'm in Naples Florida and Comcast has the game listed on ESPN Full Court, 701 at noon today. It looks like it is going to be free as part of the free preview as I'm getting news on the channel now and two days ago I got nothing.

According to an article by Jeff McLane in the Philadelphia Inquire, the Morris twins come in a package. The Morris twins just turned 17 and want to spend another year in high school. They were scheduled to go to Midnight Madness in Lexington but cancelled. They are scheduled to visit GW and Georgetown this weekend. www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/15869023.htm

I thought these two articles in the Philadelphia Inquire made interesting reading. While in the past it has always been difficult for a top player to put up with all of the college recruiters but now they have to put up with the high school recruiters. I wonder how many of these kids will make it to the NBA - and when they don't then what? These kids and their parents need to remember John Thompson and his deflated basketball. www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/15624880.htmwww.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/15634251.htm

Yes JT3 can recruit but he has not yet proven that he can coach at this level. Yes going up to Illinois was going to be a hard place to win. But we would have been having this discussion even if we came back in the second half to win. We were not cold in the first half. Cold is when you have good shot and miss. We didn't take any good shoots in the first half. We neve attacked tha basket, We did play good defense. At half-time it appeared to me that Thompson let the players play.
I agree that this will be a good loss. Hopefully we learned that the system as played in the first half doesn't work.

BB is not the problem. The "system" is the problem. It started at the end of last season when the coaches from the big east figured out how to defend it. In the Ivy it works because the talent level of the defense is not as good as the big east. It works occasionally against better teams when they are not used to seeing it or didn't prepare for it. But throw a team with a good, fast defense against the system and you see the end of last year and so far what we have seen this year. BB doesn't get a chance to show what he can do because the ball is always moving away form the basket. This team has a lot of talent. In my mind, we should be undeafeated this year. The system however was designed to even the playing field when you don't have as much talent as the other guys. But when you have talent, as we do, the system tends to lower the ability of a star to make things happen play. The individual sacrfices his talent for the good of the team and the "system" . That is why BB and Green aren't looking as good as we know they are.
Under the "system" every pass moves the ball away from the basket. No one is allowed to go one on one against someone. No one drives to the basket and then either finishes or dumps the ball back out for an open 3. Under the system, no one attacks the basket. The proof of this is the fact of our numerous shot clock violations and lat second throws we saw at the end of last year and this year.
A motion offense works as long as the players are allowed to attack the basket. We have great individual players who can take advantage of this. Green in the second half clearly broke out of the system and look what happened. JT3 wake up! Let the players play! What player would want to come here and have to play in a system that won't let them shine.
