Those calls didn't seem all that bad imo. Seton Hall fans and coach made way too much of it.
Admittedly I'm biased, but thought we got a much worse whistle the other night at Xavier.

I'm not one to blame the refs, but this is an extremely one-sided whistle tonight.

I heard Cooley with Fanta & crew - he didn't say too much, but he did say that one day Fielder will be a 'household name.' Thought that was interesting. Well for better or worse he will get an early opportunity to start building that name!

Thank you for the update! Looking at the bright side, just makes our incoming class next year that much stronger.

Love to see it!
Saw that CBS had Wake as preseason #6 in ACC, so no pushover.

Regardless of how Fielder will be able to bang with the big boys from Day 1, it will be great experience for him and really pay dividends for us in the future. Maybe it motivates him to work even harder in the weight room and pack on more lbs heading into next year. Either way I'm good with it.

I completely agree - Cooley is building from the ground up. We need to try to enjoy the growing pains, seeing young guys develop.
Having said that, I do hope we get some positive update on Drew McKenna soon. He's someone we could use both in the now and certainly the future.

Akok is too skinny to play the 5, it has to be Cook with Mutombo as back-up. And Massoud is clearly the starting PF. He would've provided nice depth, but I'm ok with it. Fielder gets more minutes this way, which is better for the future.

Then again he was listed in Rothstein's starting five.

Love to see it. The guys are clearly putting in the work. Could be best conditioned team in a long time. But where is Akok?

Good player - at least he's not in the Big East to inflict pain on us directly!

Went to a few games this weekend, some quick observations:
Brumbaugh seems like a winning player, and just a great cornerstone piece for our program going forward. He made some very nifty passes, and is one of those classic point guards who knows where everyone is and gets them involved. Probes the defense well and always has his head up looking for the open man. Was playing with Pickett and some other older guys, so really seemed to defer to them from a scoring perspective. I would've liked him to be little more aggressive scoring wise, but again he was seeking to set up other (older) guys. Seems like a legit 6'4 which is good, but does need to fill out. Not an explosive athlete who will blow by people, but uses the pick and roll extremely well to create space for himself. Overall he is a very solid addition.
Styles is an explosive athlete, and I liked his overall presence out there. Was most impressed with his work on the boards. Had some success on offense when he took guys in the post. Seems to have a solid mid-range game, but didn't see him do too much offensively to be honest, particularly from the outside. Also, his handle could definitely use some work. Almost seems like an under-sized power forward. He does seem like another winning player who will work hard on both ends, and provide that effort and mature demeanor that we've been sorely lacking the last few years.
Saw just a few minutes of Heath and Supreme Cook: Heath looks poised to have a strong campaign. He can go downhill with the best of them, and just looks comfortable and confident. Looking forward to seeing him take a leadership role. What jumped out about Cook was how he was attacking the boards, and his physical presence on defense. Might be a bit undersized at C, but is solidly built with long arms and good athleticism. Like Styles, I think he provides the toughness and effort that we've been lacking of late.

Having seen AJ Swinton this weekend at Kenner all I can say is -- let's get this kid!

Kenner stats in and of themselves don't mean much....and I think almost everyone recognizes that. But if you watch in person and know what to look for, Kenner can be quite revealing. More specifically this takes into account a guy's physical development and overall physicality, and the types of shots they're taking and making, particularly relative to who they're going against. Also can pick up intangibles relating to guys' leadership, confidence, how hard they play, etc.
Again all seems obvious...but I agree that people who say Kenner reveals next to nothing are off base.
Relatedly, thanks to everyone who is doing Kenner write-ups!

He wrote a great book about the '88-89 season in the Big East.
Also enjoyed his book Fall River Dreams, centered around Chris Herren.

It's not just the fact that Cooley is new, but also we will have a very inexperienced roster. Brumbaugh, Fielder, McKenna have obviously never played college hoops; Epps and Styles not all that much. So getting these guys immediate PT is critical, and I think this schedule is conducive to that.
