It's sad that it didn't work out, but please do it swiftly and hire the best person.
I just rewatched Requiem for the Big East. It's still amazing that the old iteration of the BE goes away...we basically lead the way to regenerate it....and yet we remain down for the count while the new league thrives. The last 10 years have been a tough pill to swallow.

I generally think it's best to expect the worst and hope for the best. And I'm hoping that we already got the worst!
I think there is enough Pitino smoke to at least think that we are out there making inquiries and having conversations.

This is smart not to burn bridges, but actions speak louder than words.

As incompetent as our leadership has been -- and as little faith as I have in them -- this time I think they all know it's over.
If they are dumb enough to run this back they will see fan involvement at as low of a level as any high major has ever seen.

Exactly - the fact that an all time great like Pitino happens to be sitting there this year is an unbelievably lucky break for us. Let alone his connection to the school.

Georgetown needs Pitino....and in a certain way Pitino needs Georgetown, at least based on the criteria that he has laid out.
Also, Pitino would say all the right things about JT and Gtown history on the way in.

Went to the Fordham-GW game this past weekend - the current state of our Hoya basketball program is that it's way more fun being a Fordham fan right now than being a Georgetown fan.

The only thing real fans are pulling for is whatever will get us a new coach along with Ronny out the door!

I'll take someone working 9 to 5 if they actually know what they're doing!
If a new coach came in here I would tell them to take the first week and just review basketball fundamentals with the team...getting back on D, shot selection, sharing the ball.

I don't think we have to wait too long. I can see Marquette laying an epic beatdown on us.

I would happily take Mack or either Pitino!

Great job by Wright speaking out. He identified the main guy we need to get rid of - Ronny Thompson. If he has any say in who the next coach is we will remain stuck.

He can't really believe this BS, can he? Also insulting that he thinks anyone else would buy it. On a related note, he clearly has too much concentrated power.

That's one of the worst quotes you will ever see.

The only positive is learning that we are better with Ezewiro than Wahab.

If people can't see the pattern by now they never will. There was one major difference tonight and it was in coaching. And that also translates into the confidence of the players - you can see it, even when the game is close.

The press was a disaster. Easily broken with one/two passes.
Can't we just focus on playing solid half court D? We now have two shot-blocking bigs who can swallow up guys driving to the basket.
If we are behind and you want to pick up the pace then I can see a press, but otherwise it just leads to wide open 3s for the other team.
More broadly, I also don't think presses are that effective anymore. These days teams have so many good ball-handlers, and will kill you with open 3s.

First time at Kenner this weekend. I was really impressed with all 3 transfer guards: Murray, Spears, and Heath. Those look like 3 starters to me and a significant upgrade, especially in end of game, tight situations. All 3 of them can create their own shot or create for others off the bounce. And they seem to be good defenders on top of it, obviously an area where we have been abysmal.

I would like to see what their toughness would yield with a new coach who can put them in a position to win.
