"Georgetown was the right fit for me. More than anything, I wanted to get back home to DC and Georgetown and the coaching staff gave me the opportunity to do that. I'm part of a close family and it means a lot to me that I can see them more and be closer to my support system." - Jay Heath on his decision to attend Georgetown

Decent player, would’ve been a nice pickup if we didn’t just sign Primo and Murray. Assuming Dante Harris comes back; there are not enough basketballs for all of these gunners. I feel badly for Denver Anglin and Jordan Riley, who were sold a bill of goods. Surprised they’re sticking around for this unfolding debacle, particularly since they seem like smart kids from good families.

Gotta agree with Boya here to some extent… so guard heavy I think it must lead to some more transfers and I really hope not from the younger guys.

We need someone who can shoot threes, and Heath shot them 43% from three last year (and while playing in a major conference on a bad team). If we had a roster full of people who were going to shoot 40%+ I might agree with you, but if he does that, he's going to get his minutes.

If they’re smart kids from good families, it may just be possible they value Georgetown and don’t have the “I gotta play a lot now” attitude. I know that sounds unfortunately quaint, but we can always hope. Jay Heath is an experienced player from top conferences who has played in some tough arenas. As noted, he has three years of showing he can make a three. If he knocks, this team has to answer the door for a Don Carey replacement.

Am I correct in saying Heath has 2 seasons of eligibility left

I feel bad for Jordan Riley. If he hits the portal now he won’t get a ton of high major looks because of the injury last season. Not that the staff shouldn’t take every opportunity to get better when they can, especially if Heath wanted to come home. All of these guys have multiple years of eligibility too, so there might be a log jam for a while.

The way CBB works now, you'd better work your butt off to earn a spot because there's no guarantee you won't be recruited over if you don't prove yourself. Which is perfectly reasonable, IMO, from the coach's perspective since a lot of guys now view themselves as free agents. If there's no loyalty on the part of the player, why should there be any on the side of the schools? It's been decided that all of it is going to run like a business. Knife cuts both ways.

Ostensibly this is still supposed to be about educating kids and graduating them like every other collegiate sport we field. If we're treating athletics as college sports and basketball as a minor league team there is something wrong. If we're treating basketball as special and a minor league team and they go 0-20, there's something even more wrong. Does any other sport that Georgetown fields a team in have a transfer rate or APR like basketball?

There is something wrong - it’s with the CB landscape and it’s not going away - barn door open ———-

That is not to dismiss any of the problems specific to the Hoyas

Folks have to stop using any excuse besides the administration being at fault

As for what role he will play with the Hoyas, Anglin said, “They want me to play the one, they want me to come to the school and make an impact very quickly. We haven’t really talked about if I start or not, but [Coach Ewing] just knows how much I bring to the table offensively, defensively and leadership-wise so he just emphasized that part.” www.nj.com/sports/2021/07/gill-st-bernards-point-guard-denver-anglin-commits-to-georgetown-its-an-honor-to-play-for-patrick-ewing.htmlHow much do you think the Hoyas coaches communicated to Anglin in the last several days before taking in transfers that play his position?

Does any other sport that Georgetown fields a team in have a transfer rate or APR like basketball? For track and field/XC I can only think of two women, who transferred out. I can think of one or two men and two women, who transferred their eligibility after graduation.

Most (not all) in the country club sports are there for the G'town education while playing a sport they enjoy. And most have defined future plans that do not include their sport. A few do, but the exception.
The sad thing is the above sentences tell you a lot about college athletics these days. The word "student athlete" has definitely morphed.

Anyone know if Heath can defend? Yes very good defender, tight with the basketball, and can score off the dribble and as a shooter. In terms of player comps, I see a lot of similarities to Jessie Sapp.
