When Xavier went on their run we had some bad turnovers. Akinjo lost it on the left sideline in the backcourt on an outlet pass. Greg threw a terrible outlet pass. Don’t recall when the Mosely drive the paint turnover was but I think around the start of the run. I don’t know how many turnovers Xavier had for the game, but considering they average 17+ per, we did not turn them over despite them missing their starting point guard. Just kept thinking about Mack saying a few years ago that if they punched us in the mouth we would not fight back. Felt that summarized our interior D. Our free throw D was also not good.

[twitter url=“ From SBNation: Rebekkah Brunson joined the Timberwolves broadcast team Hey, it’s like the NBA has finally started to realize the WNBA has a ton of talent that should be given opportunities! (Next step: paying them a livable wage for those chances).
Anyway, this is dope because Brunson is a five-time WNBA champion, the league’s all-time rebound leader, owns a food truck, is a mother, and now an NBA broadcaster.”

During the Hall game they showed Coach Ewing talking with Pickett on the sideline. There was a clear view of Pickett’s face. He was listening intently to his coach, did not even seem to blink. Give him some time, he will put it together.

Folks -- I have breaking news on the Jordan Tucker situation. Discussed on my "Basketball in the DMV" podcast. The episode is available for all. www.patreon.com/posts/16405094I’ll save you all some trouble. He said in his podcast that after the visit Georgetown said they were going to pass on Tucker.

I don’t post often, but read a lot. Derrickson is a great college player, but is a long shot to play in the nba. He has one good nba skill, 3 point shooting. However his lack of athleticism would make it difficult for him to defend. He has good size for the college game, but in the nba he would never get his shot off in the post. Think about a guy like Hollis Thompson who is a great 3point shooter who only played in the nba because of the process. The issue with Govan is that he does not use his size well. He is not a shot blocker, is not an elite rebounder, and spends too much time on the floor. He is an excellent shooter and at 6’10 or ‘11 he could potentially play in the nba if he continues to improve his game. With another year under Ewing both players will cont to improve. They could both have great senior seasons and be all big east players. However, the nba does not value seniors. Also they will likely remove the age restriction so the 2019 draft will include high school seniors which would make it even more difficult for both to make the nba. A team with two nba caliber bigs, despite not having a solid pg, would not struggle like we do.

I checked on the duke and western Kentucky boards. There is a tremonts thread on the duke forum with a few posts in which tremont does not seem like a priority. The wku thread had a post that mentioned 20k views I think. Their fans are high on him, but some say they already have a starting pg. there are also mentions of tremonts dad having a lot of baggage with comparisons to ball's dad. Maybe he'll end up like the girl who says no to a bunch of guys that ask her to the prom then ends up with no date. Or he can go to UConn, wish him good luck with that.

Happy for Greg. He's been constiently disrespected and basically been on the trade block for two years, but he has been a total pro and been effective in whatever minutes he gets. He murders backup bigs in the post all day, and we all know he's one of the best passing bigs in the league. He doesn't fit the modern archetype for a center but he's damn good at what he does. His production has not gone without notice. Flannery has him third for sixth man. www.sbnation.com/2017/4/14/15295104/nba-mvp-most-valuable-player-pick-vote-russell-westbrook

Maybe not the best decision by Pryor, but he was clearly fouled on the play. The outside defender pulled his left arm. Not that this changed the outcome or that I expect the ref to make that call, just that he looked much more out of control because of the foul.

From libertyballers www.libertyballers.com/2017/1/5/14171296/philadelphia-76ers-trust-the-process-hollis-thompson-waivedFrom thearticle comments: ▼ I’ve been saying for a while that Hollis was gonna be the last guy to go that was pure process, and here we are. He wasn’t very good, but he was wicked smart, and funny, and basically just lovable. We’re all pretty practiced at falling in love with 10 day guys and all the other less than stellar (Brandon Davies) players that have rolled through here, but Hollis was special. You always got the sense that he understood his role and his fate better than any of the other guys. He’s the guy you really hope is going to make it through the movie, but you somehow know that he won’t and that it will suck when he gets offed. I’ll miss him. Posted by Transmet on Jan 5, 2017 | 11:47 AM ▼A True Ode to Hollis: A TTP Original A process original. He was here from the start. He was waived from the Sixers?! There is a hole in my heart. He looked lost at times, and was very suspect on D. But from beyond the arc, he was 40% from three. Though his on court decisions would sometimes make me cringe or cry, You will be missed Holliswood. My favorite fringe NBA guy. Hats Off for an Original Son of Sam. Wonderfully written article Jake. Hope he shoots lights out for a contender this year. Posted by Shane Jawns on Jan 5, 2017 | 11:51 AM

All of the more recent Hoyas who have left school early for the NBA have been projected lottery picks (Green, Monroe, Otto), not just a shot at being drafted. DSR made himself eligible but came back for his senior year. Hollis was a bit different since he had graduated. Thanks to the process he found a spot in the NBA and even recently was mentioned by Zach Lowe regarding his shooting. The incoming recruits, especially Waters, seem like great additions, but will take time to adjust to D1 level of play. So expect some more frustrations, eventually you will get used to it.

I don't like to post much, but I would not bank on LJ leaving after this year. Draft express has him as a late first rounder after his senior year. www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2018/Nbadraft.net has him as a second round pick this year. www.nbadraft.net/2017mock_draftNot that these sites have a crystal ball, especially at this point of the college season, but the write up for him on draft express is probably pretty accurate. In short, says last season he shot the ball well, is a bit short, somewhat limited at creating for himself, and needs to be a lock down defender to make it in the NBA. A player would be better off cementing first round status and a guaranteed NBA contract, rather than coming out early as a second rounder. If LJ does leave, expect some losses next season, and by some, I mean a lot. Even if he stays, unless JT3 pulls another rabbit (i.e. Pryor) out of his hat, I'm not too optimistic. Tough to rely on freshman recruits to get a team near the top of the big east conference.
