Ouch! I thought he would test the waters...My Only surprise is that he's hiring an agent and completely forgoing his senior year. Especially since next years draft is considered pretty weak and another improved season added with some team success could put him in better position to start his pro career.
I don't have a clue what his family circumstance are or what led him to this decision so I'm not questioning his it and I wish him all the best going forward, but from the outside looking in, its a curious decision.

That is really surprising. Especially after it had been indicated both he and Jessie were staying for another year. I don't blame him for actually declaring and going on the workouts to see what the NBA guys think/say, but once he hires an agent there is no turning back. I love his game and how well he has developed, but I don't see him getting drafted, not even in the second round this year, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If this is what he wants/needs to do, then i wish him well but I am surprised by this move.

Best of luck. Wish he wouldn't have signed an agent.

DSR was going to declare w an agent too. Even had a GU press release i believe.
Obviously didn't happen, though.
Maybe something changes his mind...

Maybe I'm reading his Instagram post too lawyer-like but he says he consulted with his family but doesn't mention consulting Ewing and the staff about the decision. I wonder if this is taking Ewing and staff by surprise?

I haven't followed the speculation about how many schollies we had available too closely.

Wow this is an absolute killer.
I will root for MD and hope for the best, but I really think one more year would have done wonders for him.
Really takes the wind out of the sails for next year.

If this is what he wants/needs to do, then i wish him well but I am surprised by this move. This is correct... I also of course state I have zero clue around his personal life... ...but if this a basketball only decision it is not a good one. He of course is in a way exactly what the NBA wants a stretch 4 that can play inside out...but he cannot defend or even likely rebound at the next level. To his defense there is very few pure PF in this year's draft but you have to think another year under Ewing, a potentially better team and some possible exposure in the tournament, would have all made it worth staying. Guys like Pinson, Trier, Shake Milton, Kelan Martin, are considered late 2nd rd picks so I just cant imagibe he thinks hes getting drafted before say the 50th spot. Heck Moritz Wagner who couldnt havw boosted his stock any more in March then he did is considered a mid 2nd rounder. I wish him the best but if this purely a bball decision I don't think it's the right one...

Hope this works out for him and he blows them away in the pre-draft workouts. In the long run getting him to the NBA is good for the program.

our defensive efficiency has just gone up a notch - best of luck to Marcus - would have thought he'd look without signing

I wish Marcus all the best - and think this actually will be a benefit for next years team. Yurtseven will be eligible next year from everything I am hearing and allows Govan to play the 4 more. Additionally, playing Leblanc good minutes at the 4 should immediately make this team better defensively.
From what Im hearing, Marcus stopped going to class and told people his family needed the money. No idea if thats true or not, or if it was easier than saying he didnt like being coached by Ewing.

This a big assumption that Yurtseven doesn’t go pro AND we land him AND he can play immediately. Let’s not sugarcoat this - its a big hit for next year’s team.
