ACC might not even exists in 5 years. K gone. Williams gone. Larranaga is 74 years old. Leaonard Hamilton is 74. Wait until they both retire. The football situation is worse. Just bad all around.
Terps made a smart move leaving that dump.

Ewing had his flaws, but he usually played the guys who could actually play. If you weren't seeing a ton of minutes, there was a good reason for it. Guys who had little playing time didn't end up transferring to big schools. It usually was a step down in competition. We know about transfers the year before last, including Holloway who played more under Ewing. As far as this year goes, I’m reluctant to assume that a bad coach suddenly became good in deciding what was a good reason for who should actually play and when. Name some players who transferred and balled at the major conference level after rotting on the bench with Ewing You can't, but it doesn't even matter. It's over. Cooley is here and he'll decide who to keep on the roster going forward.

What lost games was not playing defense. Couldn't shoot the 3 well nor could they defend the 3 well. If you struggle recruiting, defending the 3, and shooting the 3, you are going to have the record we had the last 2 years. Player retention was also an issue. Just basic basketball 101 or lack thereof was a problem. But that is the past. New times. Not sure what the future holds. With Cooley's track record as a coach, players will at least learn the basic fundamentals of basketball. If we had those basic fundamentals and just played serviceable defense,we would have won more games and been more competitive. Agree with all your points but I'm talking about the games they were in mostly, but when you play uptempo with 6 guys, they gotta be 6 dogs like UNLV 90 in order to fall into the lulls on O and D from being fatigued especially with 1 primary ballhandler. We couldn't make stops and we couldn't make shots. Running up-tempo leaves plenty time on the clock when you miss ill-advised shots too quick, then can't stop the team on the opposing end. That was throughout Ewing's tenure. It was a recurring theme.

It doesn't say anything other than guys weren't good enough to see the floor. They weren't good enough in practice. Struggling in practice doesn't bode well for Big East competition. Ewing was on the hot seat and was trying to win games, not lose them. He lost them anyway. If you can play you will play. That is a reflection of the recruiting/evaluation phase. Coaches don't give guys talent and convert them from Steve Rogers into Captain America. Something has to be there from the start. I feel what you are saying but Ewing seem to be the type that would identify 6 guys as the 6 guys I'm gonna play into the ground and never make subs especially in the 2nd half. I think his trying to run his best players into the ground lost a few games that he shouldn't have lost because of fatigue. What lost games was not playing defense. Couldn't shoot the 3 well nor could they defend the 3 well. If you struggle recruiting, defending the 3, and shooting the 3, you are going to have the record we had the last 2 years. Jesse caught crap because of his defense. He wasn't a typical G-town center force in the middle. However, his offense and 3-pt shooting people liked.
I think most would take Jesse over Wahab any day of the week.
Wahab is pretty much limited to inside and he has bad hands.
Maryland found that out soon enough.
He would be good in a reserve role or spot starter duty with other talented players around him.

San Diego St. Props to them. Their coach was a longtime assistant to Steve Fisher and he has done quite well since. They look pretty good. Miami looks good too. Larranaga can coach. Love Larranaga. NYC boy who played under Jack Curran at Molloy. Lets not forget his Mason team beat UConn in the Regional Final. How can we ever forget when UCONN gets beat? I remember like it was yesterday. It was a thing of beauty.

This is one of the better tournaments we've had in a while.
Some good games. Good talent on display across the country.

Conference is just getting better.
Shows you the power of the Big East. With football running everything, it is nice to see a basketball only conference thriving the way it is.
Heck, even UCONN wanted to come back on the basketball side of things.

I can't root for Cooley because he sold his house too early. Shame on him.
Ronny probably told him to sell it and then told Jack to hire Cooley.
Ronny is Thanos.
We need to go back in time to fix this. Where is Ant-Man when you need him.

Hurley has had strong teams the last few years. For some reason they jut wet the bed in the tournament. Kinda looked that way when they didn't win the BET this year.
Finally, the are playing up to their potential.

ACC stinks. Media darling conference. Couldn't stand them back in the day, glad to see they are still weak and overrated now. The Big East was always better. Objectively speaking, of course. Better brand of basketball. More interesting programs. Basketball-wise, NYC,Philly, DC, Baltimore, etc. identifies more with the Northeast than down south. Basketball is king in those areas. The more south you go,the more football becomes the priority. Eh… I’d say the state of NC would argue about king of basketball, and which sport is more important They can argue all they want. There is no comparison. There is no comparison between NYC, NJ, DC, Northern VA, Baltimore vs NC when it comes to basketball. Coach K and Roy Williams would recruit in this area for a reason. They weren't getting all homegrown talent. Part of the reason the Big East was born was because the Northeast region would lose their homegrown talent. Not any longer once the Big East was born. Too much talent. Rivalry comes from relationships. Basketball wise, there is no connection like that to Carolina schools. We aren't the Terps. They have/had those rivalries. Why? History. Year in and year out they played each other. Historically, Maryland felt left out in the cold because they were a founding member of the ACC but everything was geared toward the Carolina schools. The ACC tournament was held in Carolina. That perceived slight fueled the rivalry. History and relationships trumps proximity. Had we been in the ACC, it would have been a different story.

Ed Cooley is the definition of charisma. He knows how to win over a room. From the serious talking points, to his jokes, the guy is very skilled.
The biggest take home point from the press conference was Ed Cooley's admission: "I needed a change".
Providence is hurt because they love Ed Cooley. Still. He is one of their own. He was born and raised in that city. He built the current foundation that is there now. He won consistently at that program. Coach of the year last year. Money wasn't the issue either. Despite all of that, he left for a program within their own conference. A Georgetown program that just about everybody within the conference, the country, and Providence itself would admit is a much better job.
Historically, the coaches that have done well there, don't stay (Pitino, Gillen, Barnes). It is a stepping stone job. Cooley stayed for 12 years. Had he not been a homegrown guy, he might have left sooner.
Providence knows what they lost in Ed Cooley. What stings more is not the fact that he left, but why he left. So some will find every reason to vilify him rather than swallow that hard pill. It is unfortunate.
On our side of things, he won the press conference. Now the real work begins.
