Recruiting.
Cooley is getting the most out of these guys. Laying the foundation down.
Keep in mind, that this is a process.
One game at a time.
Go Hoyas!

Reggie.
Jeff a distant 2nd.
Otto a distant 3rd.
Reggie's leadership was incredible. That was a team in transition with a lot of young and inexperienced guys that he had to be the coach on the floor in addition to carrying the bulk of the scoring load.

This area is huge. A lot of talent. There isn't one magic pill of an assistant that will prevent other schools from getting top talent in the area, and that includes Dematha.

They were the same player. Fall over yourselves and spin it all you want. Akinjo was Big East rookie of the year. People forget because they hate Ewing so much. Ewing gave McClung a chance and a showcase. Played him at his best position only for the so-called great Chris Beard to do the same. But texas tech was a family, so Mac was SOOOOOOO much better. I don't understand what "same player" means. Whether or not he executed that role, it seems clear that Akinjo was Ewing's choice for PG. And Mac was perfectly capable of playing the "2." How that set with Mac, I don't know, but this is probably another instance where the proverbial failure to communicate was a factor. Sorry for the slight diversion Primo. You are smart. You understand. Primo Spears. He'll find a place somewhere. Coach Cooley is here now. Can't blame Ewing anymore which is nice. Breath of fresh air, but bad habits are still hard to break for some.

Mac and Akinjo had their respective limitations and ceilings. They were shown here and their other destinations.
But Primo Spears, yeah.

Don't think that this kid is uncontrollable, but rather just someone who needs a coach who will establish some boundaries and enforce them. Recall thinking that both Akinjo and McClung were incredibly selfish and yet both thrived elsewhere, particularly Akinjo. Too many Hoya "stars" were given freedom to play selfish and undisciplined ball. Would not be surprised if both Spears and Murray follow in the footsteps of Akinjo and McClung and become more effective players at their next stop. That said, I think it is best for them and the program that they are moving on. Akinjo and McClung had similar stats at their new schools. They were pretty much the same player as they were at G-town.

Still quite amazing that they easily dominated every team outside the Big East but lost 8 times to 6 different Big East teams. Big East prepared them for the rigors of the tournament. Calhoun said had they not hit their rough patch earlier in this year, they would not be where they are now. Interestingly enough, Calhoun is involved with their program. Gives Hurley advice, etc. and speaks to the team. Shows up at practices sometimes. 3 Big East teams in the sweet sixteen. Creighton was possibly a touch foul away from the Final Four. Not a coincidence.

It is a tone deaf request on Jill's (and her advisors) part. Just like Jill's 'taco' comments in the past. Clueless. It is a joke, and Angel is right.
Our 1984-1985 team should have been invited to the White House, if that is the case. Opposing team shot 75%, Reggie got hurt, and we still only lost by 2.

102 points.
I guess the tight foul calling was the reason Iowa played poor defense.

Better fit for her and achieved her goal with the best coach in basketball. Gross, no way (Geno, Staley, VanDerVerr, etc). She has more National championships than Staley and VanDerrverr. 3rd most all time. Geno hasn't won a National title since 2016. Mulkey won in 2019 with Baylor. Left a top-flight program in Baylor she built. Went to LSU and rebuilt their program within 2 years and won it again 2023.

Yes, allowing 102 points isn't the refs fault. That is a record for the title game.
LSU won decisively.
Anytime Iowa would make a run to cut the deficit to a respectable margin, LSU would just counter and put a stop to it.
Angel made the right move in transferring. Better fit for her and achieved her goal with the best coach in basketball.

Getting arguably the best player in the country in Angel Reese doesn't hurt either.
It takes both, no doubt.
Leadership is what is most important in any organization, team, club, franchise, etc.
Good leaders, good talent, and good people.
Congrats to LSU and Coach Mulkey. Iowa tried, but LSU was too strong. They grew as a team throughout the season.

Well, well he was a good player for UCONN. He is implying they might have defeated Michigan St. with Dyson.

It was weird watching FAU and SD St. in the Final Four playing each other. lol
Great finish though. Great shot at the end. SD St. keeps finding a way to survive.
UCONN looks strong. Balanced team.

South Carolina are bullies. Just like UCONN were bullies. Just like the great Pat Summitt's teams were bullies.
They would/will take your lunch money. They are/were just that good. Dominance.
Those teams seem invincible to the point that it does not seem fair. Especially UCONN's dominance. It was getting really old and stale after a while. lol
Ironic to hear Geno of all people whining about Carolina's play this year. He is mad because he isn't the top dog any longer.
The women's game overall is more physical than the men's game. The refs let them play, especially in the paint. It can be brutal. In the men's game, you breathe on somebody you get a foul.
It comes down to professional jealously. In Dawn and her team's case, there is probably a little more to it as well.
However, dominant teams raise the bar and are better for the game in the long run. You had Tenn then you had UCONN. Then you had Coach Mulkey with Baylor. Now you have South Carolina.
Seeing Iowa knock off Carolina made for great basketball. It took a great player, with a respected veteran coach, and a fundamentally sound team to beat the great Carolina. They didn't get bullied. No fear whatsoever on their part. Now they are in the championship game against an LSU team who lost to Carolina earlier in the year. LSU improved as a team because of that defeat.
