“The Georgetown coaching staff instantly treated me like family,” Spear said to On3. “Brandon Murray is my guy and I can’t wait to share the court with my brother. When Georgetown basketball is doing good, basketball is doing good. It’s time to bring that G-Town ball back!”
Spears, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Hartford, Connecticut, led Duquesne in scoring, averaging 12.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and three assists.

Hopefully his role will be different here or this might just be a slight upgrade. At least he is taller.

I hope Tyrell Ward isn't planning on shooting the ball very much during his one year on the Hilltop...unless there's another transfer out that hasn't yet been announced.

As I said in another thread, I hope he’s a developmental or depth piece and not a main rotation guy, but I also don’t think he transfers here if he’s not going to play a lot.

Given the situation at Duquesne last year, I don’t think it’s possible in a vacuum to take much from Primo’s shooting numbers. I’m willing to wait and see, especially since another PG is unlikely to walk through the door.

Welcome Primo. Some dude on Twitter said that GU wouldn't be able to get a PG in the portal. Guess he was mistaken.

This isn't a knock on the kid(l couldn't do that to a fellow CT resident) but this reasoning was used when Rice signed. Im willing to wait & see a well however his numbers are what they are no ned to sugarcoat them Having said that, the clip posted in his recruiting thread of his game against URI was impressive..

The obvious difference being Kaiden Rice had four years of college experience before transferring here and was a known commodity, while Spears was a freshman on a terrible Duquesne squad. Trust the film when it comes to freshmen. A kid dropping thirty burgers in the A10 is absolutely someone an 0-20 team can and should take and fit in their rotation.

Rice's previous experience doesn't change the fact that posters felt his 32% shooting was due to his being asked to do more because his team wasn't very good... Again, I'm not knocking Spears at all. The game posted I liked what I saw.

The game posted I liked what I saw. To be fair to Rice, if you don't take into account the ridiculous turn around 3s he took off one foot from the logo, he was easily above 40%. Unfortunately, he was on a bad team in DC too, so it seems he was given the green light to shoot every time the ball touched his finger tips. Hopefully there are more pieces on next year's team ready to compete, and Primo (as well as Dante) will be less needed for scoring.

YES! Primo Spears, welcome to Georgetown!!
Looking at his tape, reminds me of Dwayne Bryant physically, both size wise and how he moves.
Ball wise he seems to have a lot of skills, decent handle, nice release on his jumper, some midrange scoring moves. Seems like a tough player, strong and athletic, can't wait to see him
Very exciting!
