I will say this Walker, along with Trey, is one of the guys to watch. What I like about Walker is his aggressiveness on the offensive board. Trey seems to have on the court leadership potential. Always communicating with team mates.

On the other hand something tells me that a lot is riding on how well we do this year. That might just be the understatement of the year! I would love to see Ewing turn these kids loose even more so that people like Mac, Akinjo, Pickett, and Govan can really showcase their array of skills. We desperately need t use the talent we have to drum up excitement going into the next couple of years as far as recruiting is concerned.

I'm not crazy about the season opener, but if we win, I will in delusional mode.

Love to hear news like this; especially coming from a Hoya.

It's not just his ball handling either, he knows how to sell his crossovers and fakes with his body (watch his shoulders and hips) which is the key in blowing by quality defenders. With Mackinjo on the court, everyone will need to be on their toes. Who knows what they'll do next! Mackinjo has court vision like I have never seen on any of our teams previously. Feel free to disagree, but I am standing by my prediction that these two will propel us into elite status once again. If we can get a top-notch center--one with skill and mobility--we are talking playing for the championship. One or two more guards (same quality), one or two more powerhouse forwards, one or two more upgrades through transfers--Look out!

it'll take some time...we gotta be patient but the staff's made inroads that i suspect will bear itself when it's commitment time. Without naming names is there one high level recruit that you feel confident about? Great question! Inquisitive minds want to know.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, if we end up with the #1 recruiting class of 2019 in the Big East, when it's all said and done. I think it is really going to depend to a great extent on how Mackinjo and co do this year.

Can we at least decide on whether it's Mackinjo or just Makinjo? If we start with these small issues, maybe we can build out consensus on meaningful stuff that nobody can possibly know... I prefer Makinjo. It flows smoother that Mackinjo.....the best duo in GTown history...ducks.....😁😁😁 I agree on both counts.

We begin with the realization that we are all speculating. Then we go from there. This approach is good for the blood pressure.

Want to see Mac and Akinjo really practice shooting 3's. Potent weapon. And that's where Villanova kills us.

I will be shocked if Mac does not start. He and Akinjo are the future of the program. Get them both on the court as soon as possible, as much as possible - not just because they are our best guards, but because you want to get them through any growing pains as soon as possible. We can't get completely consumed with not losing this season, because the team will be built around two freshman guards. There will be rough patches, we may well lose a couple of games that we should not lose because of their inexperience. But the experience will pay off big time down the road - later this season and next season, when both guards are battle tested and we start beating good teams. This is not the time to play it safe by starting average guards with more experience, when we have a freshman guard who can do the kind of things Mac can do. Get both freshman guards at least 30 minutes a game, and build from there. Amen to that. And let's start right now finding their successors. Let these two guards set the standard for us.

Guys,
I just want to say thank you for the report and analysis as usual. And I pray that we can stay healthy this year and enjoy these two exciting guards take over. From what I am seeing and hearing, we have a legit 6-7 guys who are going to be solid contributors.

I agree. As we saw last year, Pat has a heck of a lot of confidence in Pickett. I can see all three starting from day one. As I have said before, Ewing is clear on what he wants, the level he expects from each position.

People don't realize how hard it is for freshman to transition to HM D1 play especially at the PG position. Because of the Kentucky and Duke OAD countigents many expect freshman to hit the ground running which isn't fair to 95+% of all the other freshman that enter college. Truth be told, the OAD's spend most of their freshman season struggling with consistency. Akinjo's development needs to be looked at through a 4 year prism. 7 PPG & 3.5 APG will be a tremendous/outstanding freshman season for Akinjo or any other freshman PG in HM D1 basketball. The problem with these ridiculous predictions that fanatics on here put up is the moment the player doesn't live up to their immediate lofty expectations, they began to criticize and even denigrate the player and his abilities. Each Players development rate is always different. It's ridiculous to cap a players potential. It's about enjoying the process... Sounds like a man of experience. However, I would hope that Akinjo, and Mac can do better than 7 PPG. I do agree with you, however, on two counts: Tamper the enthusiasm, and enjoy the process. Let me add, though, this is precisely why I think we need to go after higher level recruits than in the past, since even the best of the freshmen recruits take 3-4 years to develop.

It's pretty funny that the day James and Mac don't play and this thread has no updates througha a game and a half. Kaleb had another big game today (27 points) and Pickett did as well (20 points). Great to hear. Thanks! Hoping that Kaleb will have a truly breakout year this year. As for Pickett, I think the expectation is that he will just play ball, no need to over think the game.

Love the man! Not sure about those pants. Unfortunately, that's stylish these days. Can't say I get the allure, not to mention the lack of comfort... I guess I am getting old and out of touch. I can only imagine what recruiting today's kids must be like.

Jeff is home. Sometimes, life is good. I don't even mind his calf-choking, capri-like jeans. That's how much I love that man. Love the man! Not sure about those pants.
