i saw that, early in the broadcast, i think SU vs UConn was the lead story and it immediately followed that.
they mentioned that a lot of big east teams would get in and we were the 3rd out of 7 teams mentioned, by mentioning us that high up in the list they inferred that we are a lock for the dance as of now.

looks like you can vote every day but you need unique email addresses to vote multiple times
if you know the addresses of friends who you know wont vote you could do a few votes

I was not a band member but the fact that so many band members and band alums post on this board says a lot about their level of fandom

as someone who has been to the last 13 BET's and every game while i was a student in the 90s, the band has always been very loud and into the game.
i am curious to know how early you have to get to MCI these days to get a front or close to front row seat?
I am sure it was easier in my day at the Crap Centre to get a great seat since we had both baselines to choose from and you could sit on the opposite side of the court from the band if you didnt like becoming partially deaf from sitting near them. But then again, for a game against the likes of Cuse or USUCK we had to arrive 2 hours before game time after an hour long bus ride and run through the building when they opened the doors to get a prime seat.
when do you arrive now?

I think a new tradition of seniors getting reserved seating up front on senior night is a great idea, we all want to see more traditions flourish at GU so I dont see why this one would not be good. As for people getting there early, consider this story. You are a big hoya hoops fan drenched in school spirit but alas you came to the hilltop during the dark years.
You are a Georgetown Senior and have paid over $100,000 for the priveledge to say that, and that is just in cases of Keystone. You have had a job all 4 years to offset this expenditure which does not allow you the ability to get to the games early enough for anything better than row 20 for most games and row 40 for Cuse & Villanofun. Wouldnt it be nice to get to sit in one of the front rows with your classmates?
This is the type of community building idea that GU has been so lacking for so long, things like senior night seating can help create the bond with GU going forward as people leave the hilltop and become dreaded "real people"
btw, someone said early that there is no senior week now. If that is the case i should stop payment on this years donation to GU. That can not be true. Where is the grassroots effort to save senior week.
First they came for the tailgate and no one fought it, then they came for the block party and we were too drunk to stand. Then they came for champs and we didnt have an ID so we didnt care. Then they came for senior week and there was no one left to fight, or something like that, you know how it goes.
also, stop jumping all over guhoya2007 and his band of face painters even if they are media sluts, he may be wrong about not wanting to give up the front row but people like him should not be discouraged from their mania about hoya hoops no matter what form it takes!
How about an annual Old Skool night like tonight, and you cant sit in the first 10 rows if you arent appropriately dressed? too much government red tape though, but i digress and should get back to work and stop rambling, this is probably longer than all my posts put together.

i am on baby duty during the afternoon on saturday and I dont think i can make it to a bar with my 6 month old, unless it were close. If the plan was Legends in Long Beach or another LBC area place I would be there. let me know if you change you plans

USC is slated to open a new arena next year after many long years of promises. We NEED! an annual series with USC, it would be good for recruiting and good for the university. When alumni get to go to games they get involved in GU and are more likely to donate. Anybody who was at the Westwood Brewing company after the UCLA game a couple years ago can attest that plenty of hoyas will come out for the event. they had a private room and you couldnt move in there with soo many people.

the ucla series had some bad blood between the athletic departments so that will not be rekindled any time soon, dont know the full details on that.
Anyway, we need a so-cal game, GU attendence at the game at pauley was great.
we are doing a game watching party in Feb for the GU notre dame game at Corner Office in Irvine. see you then

as much as I talk trash about cuse, and the line "how do i keep warm when in upstate new york? by Editeding on Manly Field House then wiping my ass with the syracuse acceptance letter" that I read on the board yesterday had me laughing all the way home from work last night ... cuse & Pitt fans are the only fans from another school who I can carry on a conversation with at the BET each year. At the other end of the spectrum are USUCK fans who cant string a sentence together without spilling their beer on themselves or hurling some racial epitaph , Johnie fans who - oh wait there are no johnie fans at the BET- and Nova fans, dont get me started on them. so respect to the cuse fan for coming back here today, of course i dont know if he would have come back if we had won.

i have interviewed for a few years now and always ask where else the applicant has applied.
I can not remember ever hearing of any of them applying to ND much less would go there over GU. I dont even know, what are ND's strong majors? I assume they dont have a big political science program because no one ever suggested to me to look at ND as an option.

Good gentle folks of Georgetown... Other than TGO's inane flame, and a couple of trash- talk downies, I applaud your general approach. This thread epitomizes, I think, our schools' relationships. whatever, learn to format your posts so they dont take up the entire page

Nova is definately our #2 right there with Cuse.
I hate Villano-fun with a passion, as does any red-blooded hoya.
History, are you kidding, the 1985 game alone is enough to make them ou most hated opponent. They have been good most of the last 20 years not just recently.
It helps the rivalry that a lot of the nova students think they should have gotten in to GU, of course they are dreaming but other than Notre Dame & BC there arent any other BE schools that share that delusion (sp?) of grandure. BC is a rival like Holy Cross, someone who used to matter and never will again after this year when they will cease to exist in my eyes. St. Johns is a rival but they have no students to be rivals with. Go to the BET and while in their home arena you never meet a rabid Johnie ready to argue hoops and exchange taunts, meanwhile there is always a Cuse or Nova fan there, furrowing their brow in a vein attempt to undertand the situation as a Hoya fan berates them and then buys them a beer out of pity for the fact that their degree only got them a minimum wage salary and they couldnt possible afford a drink at the worlds most famous arena.

You're EMPLOYED? I guess miracles do happen, even to 'Cuse fans. Apparently they have internet access in that little box gas station attendents sit in now. I am happy for them.

who would have beleived that FOTG would achieve such a cult following.
I will tell my grand kids when they enter GU and hear the legends of FOTG that I knew him when he was just Fan of Techmo Bowl and Fan of Beer.

cant believe i forgot the NIT home game in 1993 when we hosted UTEP at McDonough, greatest game ever. almost held them to single digits for the half I think it was 38-11 at the half. The Hoya crowd was mock chanting "Lets go UTEP" late in the first half.

the win over Cuse at the Crap Centre in 1994 deserves mention. Cuse led late and we fouled Moten several times and he choked at the line repeatedly giving us a chance that we capitalized on. The only time in my 4 years that we rushed the court.
Another personal favorite was the Preseason NIT in 95 when we beat down Adonal Foyle (what happened to him btw) and Colgate at the Crap Centre and i was able to hit him in the head with a beer can at half time and not get tossed by security since the entire student section went dumb when they came to ask who threw the can. At least that is what i am told happened, dont "remember" much of it.
