they didnt call a moving screen on us that opened up the baseline for Green's jam early in the 2nd half so that goes both ways.

if i lived in dc i would probably hate md more, but on the left coast i am not affected by the media bias for them so they dont begin to approach the level of cuse, usuck, or bc for me. BC lied, stabbed & sold out the big east, they didnt leave in an honorable businesslike fashion like miami, va tech & rutgers did. wait, is rutgers still in our conference? who can say?
anyway, go meteor.

I love how the Last time I checked, the closest Maryland has been to receiving academic recognition was the filming of St. Elmo's Fire on their campus. lol

I just finished reading a book called "Whats my name fool?" which devoted a chapter to the Fab Five calling them very significant since they were 5 black men who busted on the scene and did things their own way both on & off the court challenging a number of accepted norms. It compared them in some ways to the famous texas western/UTEP team that took down Rupp & the white establishment back in the day. It was an interesting read although i found some holes in many of the writers' arguements and assumptions on various topics it was nonetheless an interesting take on the role of sports and athetes in social change in this country, i recommend it as long as it is read with a heap of salt since the writter (an unapologetic socialist) comes at every topic with strong biases that shape his conclusions.

The writer says "Sometimes the hostility between players — for racial, ethnic or gender-related reasons — is fierce" and then uses a quote by a girl who says she gets no respect since she isnt a man to illustrate this. that is weak. i never remember any racial or ethnic tensions at yates and the writer offers nothing to back up claim. yeah, women wouldnt always get respect but you can always earn respect on the court and send an idiot back to the sideline while you keep playing.

My Freshman year a recently graduated Dikembe is having his car washed on the road between the tennis courts and what is now the football field. I am in a group of 5-10 people headed up towards Kehoe and we stop and talk. he is incredibly nice and asks us a bunch of questions of us and says in his bellowing voice that he has one piece of advice to pass on to us. "Georgetown is great, you can party and drink and go out and have fun every night and never study, it is very dangerous... be careful."
playing pickup with jerome williams on my team. unlike other players who i had played with or against, he wasnt out there to show off, he was just having fun. he grabbed every rebound and he first would make the other team look silly as he juked them left & right under the hoop then he would dish it out to someone for a jump shot, if we missed he would start over and dish it out again.
George Butler taking a few steps out of a village A apt on a thursday nite and falling over like a tree, flat on his face, completely hammered.

Since i got a shout out i guess i should join the fray.
I don’t post much since being so far from the hill top, I rarely have anything original to ad.
SFS '96, lived NS sleepy hollow, village A dungeon, 37th & R.
Raised in Brooklyn-Atlantic Ave in Boreum Hill, near downtown
Reside in So. Cal in the LBC for 7 years now. Work in downtown LA. Life long Yankee & Redskin fan. Grew up a St Johns fan, still have a soft spot for them.
Caring for my new born daughter last year kept me from attending what would have been my 13th consecutive BET. I will be back this year though sneaking in to the student section with MegaFan & D-Rock like we always do even if it means finding a seat for my toddler as well.
Attended every game as an undergrad out at the crap centre.
Best moments: Like when a #1 seed goes down in the first weekend, FOTG dropped out of the Great Drink Off earlier than expected. (somehow my wife doesn’t think winning a drinking competition should get mention as one of my proudest moments… she and I are very different in some ways….) Rushing the court after Moten choked in '94, Iverson vs Fort Hood and every AI game after. Don Reid vs Weber State. Seeing the first game of the III era vs Temple in person. Playing pick up with Rome on my team at Yates. NIT game at McD vs UTEP. The day Esh was let go. Rocking Villa-no-fun in '96 in landover with Bubba "I root for Ark vs my alma mater" Clinton in the audience. 96 BET semi's, what a final four.
Worst moment i was there for: Losing to USUCK in ’96 after Rome was fouled multiple times on his game winning lay up. There is nothing that can be mentioned along side that.
Bad memories: Seeing the last shot of the NIT final in 93 go through Shorty Millen. Getting schooled by Eric McCoud during a game at Yates. The long drive back from Atlanta after the UMASS game in 96 and having to work at Yates that morning. Losing to UCLA at Pauley

I went abroad to Spain for a summer and highly recommend it. I would suggest looking into non-GU programs that you can then get approved by GU, this used to happen a lot without too much leg work. If you can get a good description of the course load etc you bring that in to a dean or someone important and explain your plan and why that program is so great and they will give you some steps to show you learned what you said you would.

now that is offensive to esh and i wont stand for it!
seriously, Esh had more of a grip on reality than the_way does at times, Esh at least agreed with the board that we need a remodled McDonough.

In related stories... * CSTV has announced that for the first time in 26 years they are not nominated for a single ESPY award. * CSTV is now hanging an Emmy Award banner above the urinals in the men's room. * The last 30 seconds of every CSTV show will be completely mis-managed. Not funny. Actually, that is very funny. good show jahidi

Butler got caught cheeting, they gave him another chance and he got caught again. Butler was a hard worker on the court and when i saw him at yates once, when the other guys were fooling around doing half court shots between pick up games, he was doing sprints and sit ups. When he wasnt on the court he was drunk (god bless him).
I saw him moments before he entered a final, i was sitting outside ICC next to a friend who was in Butler's class. Butler came up and showed my friend his blue book with a pre-written essay and asked my friend if it looked good for the final. Hearing what he wanted to hear, he went in to "take" the final. That apparently wasnt one of the times he got caught either.

I got a postcard as well.
I do take issue with the concept that elections of membership organizations dont need to be actual elections.
Why cant there be an open election where the current board sets the minimum standard for what you need to do to be elected and then lets it go from there?
I am a member of several groups that have open elections so it is not out of the question.
Last note: I know at least one person on the slate of proposed officers and they are a regular contributor on this board, dont know if people want their secret identities revealed on the board though.
