Akinjo playing hero ball. I don't think that play was for him the way Pat reacted.

If Govan wants to play for pay, his energy level has to pick up. But maybe that's why he's still at GU. Very frustrating to watch his body language out there down the stretch.

Again, Jagan in the game under 5 mins. I don't know why Pat continues to do this.

That last possession was definitely on Coach. You could tell the guys were clueless and needed to be settled, the game was in our hand and Pat froze on the sidelines by allowing his guys to scramble without purpose and Jagan did what Jagan has done over the yrs, no surprise.

I was screaming to call a timeout, as I knew Jagan was going to do something to cost us the game.

Good win, not great. We have to do a better job defensively, as many here have stated. Jessie still plays d as if he arrives at the gym with four fouls, smh.

If you go by TV ratings, you are certainly right. But, that's true of nearly every type of program on television - ratings were simply higher 20 years ago, or even 10 years ago for most things, particularly because there simply are way more options now. 15-20 years ago, you might have had maximum two or three college basketball options on a Saturday (ESPN, ESPN2, maybe a local Fox Sports channel or local channel), whereas now on any given Saturday there are tons of games on during the season. The same is true of the NCAA tournament, where every game is available now. It's not a direct measure of popularity, for sure, but by revenue the sport has definitely grown a lot over the last decade. That's more reflective of the fact that programmers are willing to throw money at sports for that content than popularity, though. It would've been more accurate to say that college basketball is making more money than ever. In that sense, it should remain viable for years to come regardless of the one-and-done policy. The real threat to college basketball is the looming sports rights' bubble. Once that bursts, leagues like the Big East could face trouble. I'm most concerned about the reduction of talent within the college game. If NBA, G-league, and Europe all become more a feasible, financially viable way to make a living, even if for only 4-5 years (but for some it could be 10+ years), the college game will really suffer. How many college graduates have the ability to earn $100,000/year their first 4-5 years out of school? Not too many. If this becomes a base salary for G-League, for example, a lot of Top 25-50 high school players will be tempted to go that route, assuming they can get signed. And, of course, several of the Top 25 players will be drafted by the NBA with the elimination of the one-and-done rule. I think we will see a pretty big drop in talent within the college game, making it look closer to college hockey and baseball where a majority of the elite junior players in those sports sign minor league contracts and never play the college game. March Madness will likely always be a "thing," as a marquee television event. But if the talent level in the college game drops significantly, I think the game will become less interesting and the quality of play will diminish. And, to my original point, coaches like Pat Ewing could spend 2-3 years recruiting a top big (like Isaiah Stewart) and lose him to a professional minor league, even if the player is not good enough to be drafted into the NBA. And this is why Football (barring the concussion issues) will always reign supreme as the marquee sport in America. The Pro game and College game work hand in hand as so both thrive. Will there ever come a time when the NFL allow High School Seniors to enter?...I think not.

Whoa!!! $700 per night at the Ritz...that's showing some serious love! I must be ignorant to how this works, I thought that was the standard operating procedure. Just for two nights correct? It's nothing for GU and their recruiting budget. And it's part of the recruiting process, which I definitely understand. But for an everyday guy like myself, $700 per night is like, whoa!

McClung is the all-time leader in VA scoring? Great! But please no one compare this young man to AI. It really wouldn't be fair to Mac. Adm1 I dont know if this is in response to my comment but that isn't what I was doing. Im 42 and from Newport News. I played against AI in HS. I wouldn't compare any kid to Chuck..... It was a general statement Zeke, I apologize if it seemed to have been directed at you. I am very excited to have Mac on board next season. But I hope as a fan base we don't place undue pressure upon him. AI was a special, special talent and I think we both agree to that. Mac may have broken AI's scoring record, but he's not AI

Tariq is a kid that flew under the radar because of the reasons mentioned above and some because he just hadn't developed enough. I saw him over the summer and at that point he was nowhere near a BE level player. He may have developed a lot more and more importantly become a way better shooter this prep school year but it would be a huge jump to warrant a Georgetown offer. He will be a kid that will go to a mid major and then because of the prep year/age will probably have an impact late in his career and people here will say we missed on him. This is not meant to be a knock on him. I just don't think many people here factor in what a big jump it is from the Big East say to the CAA. While we are on WeR1 though sign me up for Isaiah Wong right now. Fair assessment...Tariq could be that kid in a couple of yrs. that make people wonder, how in the hell did this young man slip through to a Mid-Major. Time will tell, as his arrow is pointing up.

I know highlight tapes make everyone look good, but Johnson sure likes a Big East player to me. Great range, long athlete, solid handles, hit a ton of outside shot, scored in a bunch of different ways. Why has his recruitment been so slow? I could only find this bigshots.net/tariq-johnson-talks-recruiting/ Academics? Off the court issues? Did he just grow a ton physically in one year? What am i missing? Much like DaMonte Dodd (Queen Anne's High) who was at UMd, Tariq went to Kent Island High on the Eastern Shore, 15 mins east of Annapolis. He attended his Junior and Senior yrs. there. Many Eastern Shore kids can get looked over if they are not travelling with a known AAU team; Tariq was with Metro All-Stars before balling with WeR1. Grades weren't an issue with Tariq, it was more lack of exposure and sort of a late bloomer. He prepped in hope to garner more looks, Kansas State, Sienna and a few others came to Kent Island to see him. He and my Daughter (who also plays at Kent Island) both trained with Showcased Frames and I know the young man is a hard worker, I've seen him in the Gym on many Saturdays putting in intense drill work and it has paid off. If he had one issue, it was his motor, some Coaches would tell his trainer Tariq should have had 40pts instead of 25pts some nights. But Mt. Zion has appeared to have figured it out and Tariq has made that jump where his motor appears to be something of the past. The young man is a legit 6'6" and has a College ready body. He's simply a talented scorer. All around good guy, quiet young man that's about his business.

Are we recruiting him/...How would he compare with Devonaire Doutrive...seems similar except that DD may be a better ball handler... Doutrive is higher ranked, obviously. But Johnson has proved that his talents are there. Playing with WeR1 (AAU) and Mt. Zion, and making first team all-conference this year at Mt. Zion, He has shown that he can play with the big boys.
