Follow Cooley's instructions: 100 FTs a day for every player.
All hands on deck for this one, pls!
Who follows Howard around to keep him under 40 pts?

I've watched Marquette play close to a dozen times this year. While Howard gets all of the attention because of his shooting, Sam Hauser is their best all around player. Marquette is an interesting team to watch because in 2 of their 3 losses, they got blown out by Indiana and St. John's. They can score with anyone, but still aren't very good on defense. One key to beating Marquette is making Howard play defense, which he doesn't like to do. That stated, this will be a challenging match-up for us, because Marquette can put 4 guys on the floor that can score on every possession. They are also more physical in the post this season than they have been in the past.

Extremely important for Jessie to have his entire arsenal ready and his big boy pants on on the defensive boards. Should be another heart attack.

Can’t have Jessie loafing around like he did in the 1st half of the Provy game. I love Jessie...but watching him get beat down the court and give up post position down low like he did was really tough to watch. The 2nd half was a different story but we need him the entire way if we are going to beat quette.

Jessie also needs to post lower than he did yesterday - Diallo (DIALLO!) consistently rode him out of the paint so that he got the entry pass about 2-3 feet farther out than he should have most of the time.

Agreed the response is very simple but seldom used with Jesse . kick it out and repost. Actually worked to perfection against Xavier for an easy basket may have been the first time in a few years I've seen it run by us with positive results..

This would be a good game for Mac to break his career high. Definitely going to be high paced so Coach will need to make sure to get guys rest to be effective the full 40 (or 50!).

Moseley is also pretty good at it. I was surprised Diallo did such a good positional job on Govan but despite that he still had 19 second half points - but a lot of those were prtty tough shots.

I like this matchup for Gtown, Howard is going to get his, if Gtown can slow down the Hausers & Anim(he’s been playing well lately) they’ll win... Pickett & LeBlanc are great matchups for the Hauser brothers..

If Marquette misses three-point shots, there will be many transition opportunities which we will have to execute on. This could get ugly, or it could be a fun one. Good matchups on the Hauser's, we have to guard Howard well to be in this game. The tests of Clemons, Ponds, Dosunmu and RJ Cole should have the guys knowing what to expect from Markus. Hopefully, those games have prepared these guys for this game, got to have a good defensive scheme on Howard, I guess you force him inside and force him to play D. Big game today, hope it's a good one.

A lot is going to depend on how we perform coming off of an emotional win. How do we handle success?

You have to ignore the fake drive jukes because he wants the 3...you have to play D the complete opposite of what you normally would do...its like Ponds but 5ft deeper....

So there’s two schools of thought - do you help on Howard and force someone else to beat you, or do let Howard get his and make sure no one else goes for double figures?
Given I think Howard can still score no many however defenders we throw at him, I think I’d lean towards trying to stop everyone else. It almost worked against SJ last weekend, but I’ll be curious to see Ewing’s strategy.

Rotate people on Howard with guys taller than him down the stretch (to make him put it on the floor and limit the quick release 3s...and stay on Hauser Sr. in the corner...he went off from there against us last year...

He was shooting over the tallest Seton Hall player because he created space. I would rotate players who could shadow him all over the half court to make it hard for him to catch a pass, then stick to him as much as possible to make him work for his shot. Let’s tire him by throwing different bodies and looks.

Who follows Howard around to keep him under 40 pts? My favorite example of this is what Dwayne Bryant and Mark Tillmon combined to do to Dana Barros in the 1st round of the 1989 BET. They shadowed him the entire game. Cant remember how many he had but he was really frustrated. Boy was that a fun weekend.

Barros averaged 23.8 points per game during the season. He set a Big East tournament scoring record Thursday night with 38 points in an 81-74 opening-round victory over St. John's. He was held to 11 points last night and took just seven shots from the field. www.nytimes.com/1989/03/11/sports/big-east-tournament-georgetown-erases-boston-college-moves-into-semifinals.html
