worried about this being a trap game... hope I'm wrong DePaul whipping St. John's today will help Patrick seize the team's attention.

worried about this being a trap game... hope I'm wrong The guys know that their season is on the line and two wins could get them to the NCAA tournament. I think the tension and excitement about that possibility will keep our guys sharp. Or at least, I am hoping it does!

Depaul may not be talented and/or play a good game on Wed., but today's result clearly shows that they've not given up on the season and are still competing. Hoyas will need to match the intensity of a team that has seen them VERY recently and wants payback.
Hoping the key guys can recover from the heavy minutes sustained last night. In an ideal world, we can distribute minutes in order to save legs for Saturday, but ensuring the win first of course is priority #1.

DePaul has not had a great year, but they do have some talented players and if the Hoyas do not match their intensity in this game they can easily lose a game like this. The Struas kid can really score when he gets going and they play hard. If you make them work hard and keep pressure on the ball they will turn it over and you can get some easy baskets, but Georgetown needs to go into the game and impose their will on the game and make DePaul play the way the Hoyas want to play. Georgetown has worked hard to put themselves in a good position for the post season, and losing here would be a missed opportunity. Bring the effort and intensity and things should turn out OK.

I ended up watching the second half of the Depaul - SJU game. Strus is a handful, and if he gets hot at home like yesterday, look out. I am glad that Depaul beat SJU because it should keep the Hoyas attention squarely on this game. Who cares about Saturday if they trip up on Wednesday? Winning on the raod is always a difficult assignment in league play, Hoyas need to lock in defensively. There is probably a 0% chance they will be gifted another 11 turnovers in the first half again by Depaul. Govan said the right thing after the game and hopefully the team proves their focus is specifically on Depaul.

DePaul turns the ball over a lot, 2nd worst in conference play. Guards need to pressure on the ball and try to get easy points in transition. They are one of the better teams in conference in getting to the foul line, which really hurt SJU yesterday. We did a good job of that in the 1st match up and hopefully do it again. We're the better team and match up with them well. Given our inconsistency throughout the year and playing on the road, this game is more of a coin flip though.

I think Kaleb can do a good job on Straus and make him earn every shot. Jagan has been the guys lately covering the other teams best player, but I think Kaleb bring better length and can bother Straus. Would like to see Kaleb add another big game to his senior season.

Not too worried about a letdown in intensity. I think the team has turned a corner on that and realizes what's at stake.
Depaul isn't that bad, though, and they will be at home. We still need to play smart and execute to win.

This article does a really deep dive into the rest of the season and it talks about how important a win against DePaul tomorrow is since the conference as a whole is so tight.

Not sure who this cat is but he's been putting together some good content ... I believe there are three or so students that run that site. Definitely a great addition to the Hoya coverage this season.

Oh by the way this would be a Q2 win and Depaul is favored by 1 1/2. This is not some cupcake. Its an important win for the standings and all the metrics as well.
