Regarding Strus, maybe it's been mentioned already, but he went for 43 against St. John's in DePaul's last game. This isn't some guy we didn't see coming who had the game of his life just to further exaggerate a beatdown of the Hoyas. Oh, and Reed/Cain had 8 combined, with the Johnnies losing by 9. That I could live with.

This performance shot our KenPom ranking down about 14 spots to 93, just 1 spot higher than our final ranking last year.

And the NCAA Net rankings put DePaul at 100, improving from 105. Hoyas slide to 79 from 72. 101-69 is so lopsided that even the five-minute highlights video is too painful to watch.

The NET drop was not nearly as bad as it could have been when you consider that ODU dropped 18 spots by losing by 7 to Southern Miss who started 1 spot below Depaul. Somehow Missouri moved up 15 spots for their beatdown of UGA who only fell 6 spots. The mid majors really have such an uphill battle.

Hugely disappointing night. No one had it period. I do agree if that one guy hadn’t been lights out this is a “more acceptable” 20 point loss, but I also don’t care about the magnitude of the blowout. They could have slowed down and stopped trying to come back - but they kept running - this is what happened. I also don’t get the read through to pat being a bad coach. I’m not saying he is the second coming - but one win or one loss doesn’t define him. The team (players and coaches) we really bad. It’s everyones fault. Not sure we need to single out anyone. I agree. I dont think the way we lost says anything about our entire coaching history or philosophy or player heart. You could just as easily make it about how well DePaul played. All I care about is that we lost a game that would have helped us significantly in getting in the tourney. I still remember how we beat Syracuse something like 60-39 on the last day of the year several years ago and they went to the freaking Final Four and we lost to FGCU. It's just one game. Sadly, it was THE game we needed to win. That was 2013 and a tell tale sign was losing to to Syracuse in the 2nd Rd of the BET in over time and failing to go 3-0 against them; in part due to Cuse extending their zone that game. And with FGCU there was the famous scoring drought which allowed FGCU to hang around, believe and speed the game up with there transition offense ending in flashy dunks.

It’s too bad that we caught Strus when he’s shouting 60% from 3pt land. Over the season he shoots only 36% from 3.

Admittedly, these types of stats are silly to some extent because they aren't tempo based, but since the 2001-2002 season, last night was tied for the most points given up in regulation. We gave up 116 in a 4OT loss to Notre Dame in 2002 and 102 to Missouri in that great OT win (one of the most fun games I can remember watching in the last 10 years). But, in regulation, we've only given up 101 twice - against Florida State in the NIT in 2014 (a 101-90) loss, and last night. Ugh.I have seen both of these games, the game against Florida State was the 1st time I ever saw the Georgetown Hoyas play in person and realized from everyone that I saw attend the game that the team still had a very strong presence in the Black community and the South cause it was the Georgetown Hoyas coming to to town. And last night, saw on t.v. like almost everyone else.
