I know they are in better conference than most of our other OOC opponents, but to me this is less about a good OOC win and avoiding a bad home loss against a team that figures to have a +150 rating by year end.

To me it is about taking the positives from the Syracuse game and expanding on them, leading to a fun, clear victory. This year's team has to be absorbing every experience and learning from them. I still think they can do very well in the Big East if they keep improving. So full speed ahead and no post cuse hangover, please!

To me ...it’s about W. We need about 22 W’s to make the tourney. It’s one at a time from here on out.

Would like to see more zone defense. More LeBlanc and Malinowski. And I'd like to see Pickett show me something that would lead me to believe he really has an "upside".

I used to think we needed a big season out of Pickett to be in the mix for the post-season. Now 9 games in I am not so sure of that. And that is not necessarily a bad thing or a knock on Pickett, more of a nod to some of our other players being better than I expected.
Syracuse was a tough loss to swallow but I saw the pieces of the puzzle coming together for us. Offense looked sharp for much of the game, I liked our aggressiveness, and we hung tough when we took their best shot. Yes, the defense is still problematic but not so disabling that we can’t contend for a NCAA berth.

I doubt that it is a coincidence that the team played the most zone of the season in the Syracuse game. I'm sure they were practicing against it all week in preparation, which allowed them to get decent at it. I'd expect more zone going forward as a result. I also really liked the zone press with Leblanc at the top. That has the look of a potentially powerful weapon to keep opponents off balance. Leblanc appears to be made for that role.

SMU isn't a good team - we match up well everywhere.
They're marginal offensively and terrible defenders. Short of suffocating pressure... I just don't see how they're gonna hang with us on either end.
McMurray might get his 25, but I think is a team we run off the court.

Every game is it's own entity regardless of the opponent so it's really difficult to predict based off of SMU's season to date. They seem to have a lot of size throughout their lineup, should be interesting and i can't wait to see the continued progression of the team.... I think McClung is about to explode.

I hate seeing Govan chasing guys around the perimeter.

I would just like to see them play a full 40 minutes with consistent effort and focus. They have clearly been improving as the year as progressed, individually and as a team, but they still go through slumps when they play poorly and make bad decisions and have too many turnovers. If they can impose their will on SMU for the entire game this is a game they should win comfortably.
Play well in this game and the next few and they will be well positioned for the start of conference play and a possible run at getting a tournament birth.

Ah, memories. The story on the main page of the last time GU and SMU squared of reminded me of my agonizing 4 1/2 hours. It was the first round of the NCAA tournament that we went on to win. I was on vacation that week and visiting my GU roommate and his family in New Jersey. As bad luck would have it, GU and SMU were playing Sunday, with the game starting while I was at Newark Airport awaiting my return flight. I watched the first half at the airport, and boarded the plane with GU trailing 24-16. I spent about the next 4 1/2 hours crapping in my pants. As I disembarked I saw my parents waiting to pick me up. The first words out of my dad's mouth when he saw me were, boy, was Georgetown lucky. The Western Regional was at Pauley Pavilion that year, and I was fortunate enough to attend.

I was watching the game, but had to leave the room frequently, because the game was such a struggle and my heart was in a flutter. Patrick's tap in over Koncak was what won the game.

There in the top 25 for offensive efficiency and that was without their best player who is probably at full strength right now in Jarrey Foster. They suck defensively so that's true. But, they will kill you on the offensive glass so we will need to crash the boards. If we win the battle on the glass, this game should be ours but by no means is this an easy game. Other than the USM loss, the other two aren't bad knowing that they were without their best player. Lipscomb beat TCU and played Louisville to the wire and Bradley beat Penn ST. The USM loss in inexcusable though. If Jarrey Foster is as good as advertised in the off season, this team could make a run in a very weak AAC. It's a game we should win, but not easily.

This game is going to be a measuring stick for the rest of the season. We are on the edge of something great. Hard loss to that team, but this layoff of a week (hard for everyone) could allow the squad to tweak some things. I believe Akinjo is going to take this matchup with McMurray personally, which could be good or bad. My money is on Akinjo. I know Clemons from Campbell lit us up, but he is leading the country in scoring. The team is going to have to show up defensively for some stops and on the boards. We got this. Sorry to include so many topics in this one post, but was I dreaming or did Akinjo have back to back 7 assist games at the beginning of the season? Does that seem like a season ago or what? He can take the game over in more ways than one. Would like to see progression from the squad. Looking for our third double digit win of the season.

Would like to see Akinjo focused on assists and Jesse touching the ball early and often in the possessions. LeBlanc with 10 rebounds and McClung shooting more inside the arc than from deep. Unlike prior years, this team has some decent shooters but they are not getting/taking the shots. Govan, Pickett and Malinowski are shooting at or near 50% from deep. McClung is at 22.5% and Akinjo at 31.6%, but the two freshmen have taken almost twice as many 3s as the two wings. No more forced shots early in the clock please. The coach is right in saying that this season is all about how quickly the freshmen develop. Today needs to be another step away from high school and toward team ball.
