I am not trying to be sarcastic but is there something intrinsically wrong with the University that we are in this situation? We hired a new coach and have all of the same problems....I am sure I will be told it is early and Cooley needs time. But, the way these players play is nothing like the way Cooley teams have played in the past. In other words, the team has the identity of the University not of the perceived identity of the coaches prior teams. I know the underlying cause of all this is DeGioia but can we overcome this while he is still the president? DeGioia is not running practice or scheduling recruiting visits. But is there a culture that we are recruiting at the level we are. Which players on our team are starting or playing on other Big East teams.

I have pretty much watched the vast majority of games since 2000. Now I am trying to figure out a way to wean myself off watching them and not caring.

I was talking about the offensive possession when Rowan and Cook were running the PnR and attacking the basket. Then Massoud also collapses from the weak side bringing his defender and not giving Rowan an outlet. Also screwed up on D as you pointed out. Ah that! I really don't think Ish has had good coaching until now. So many basics missing. He's picking things up, but so many things to get down. What is the +/- with Massoud on the floor right now? It is time to start playing for the future. I would rather see 10 minutes each for Massoud and Heath and start playing anyone we think will be here next year.

"11. Provide for at least three intercollegiate sporting events to take place at the professional sports arena per year, involving at least one Virginia-based or Washington, D.C.-based intercollegiate team in each game."So, the "professional" arena hosts three "intercollegiate sporting events" for "Virginia-based or Washington, D.C.-based" (but not Maryland-based) teams. Or is this really just cover for Virginia and Virginia Tech games? lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?241+ful+HB1514H1 Based on the politics, I highly doubt our current university President is aligned with the current VA governor. Nor do I believe he is aligned with the CEO of Monumental Sports. Political leanings be damned, our president needs to be looking out for the interest of tr University

the cooley interaction after the seton hall game is not good. i don’t like the trajectory of this team and optimism about the immediate future is dimming. a good showing against uconn would be a beacon of light in another season of darkness. Can you expand on this a little? Are you talking about a press conference or something you observed on the sidelines?

No offense JK Jr., but this is Georgetown: those that know don't talk. NIL is not the University as far as we are supposed to believe. So if the money is from private sources they may be talking.

Have no issue with not loading up on mediocre talent if we are saving NIL for this year if that is what actually happens. Sure, development is helpful, but realistically I don't think we have a base level of talent to rely on the improvement of existing players. In the long run I'd be somewhat disappointed if our ultimate upside is Cooley's Providence teams. This is why hiring Cooley to me was a bit of a gamble. The Georgetown fans who have been around for ages can sit back and worry about the Providence teams from the past couple of years being our ceiling. But the modern day college student, and recruits know nothing about our past. Most would probably tell you Providence is and always was the better program. We he haven’t had a decent season since 2014-15. How old were the high schoolers we are recruiting now the last time we were relevant?

Epps should have a minute or two on the bench to think about that first shot.

Ridiculous back & forth game between Creighton & Butler. 87-84 Butler with 6 minutes to go Mata is a very good coach but fouling with that much time left was not smart. It may hold up but way too much time in my opinion on the road.

I wonder if the coach will ask the media for better coverage again at tonight’s presser. The pictures of Cooley sitting at the end of the bench are disturbing. He is clearly frustrated but did he realized how bad things were at this program when he took the job. I’m concerned we are in a much worse place than he expected.

This game devolved when everyone on the court was just waiting for Epps to do something. Too much dribbling, no movement or passing.

Why does every discussion around PG turn into a discussion of Tyler Kolek? He’s the reigning BE player of the year, not the floor for an adequate BE starter at PG. Of course I’d love for the Hoyas to have a player of his caliber, whether that’s Brumbaugh developing or a new player joining via high school or portal. But on the continuum of PG play there’s a wide swath of “acceptable to compete in the BE” between where we are now and Tyler Kolek. Tyler Kolek would be the best PG the Hoyas have had since 1996. II understand we all want arguably the best player in the Big East but to pretend we can just pluck a player of that caliber easily is foolhardy. In that case we also need a center so we should definitely be looking for someone at least as good as Clingan or Sanogo.

God we need some serious help next year to take a step forward. Need an experienced guard, wing, and big in the worst way. Styles getting his 2nd foul is what's hurting us right now We got it within 2 with him on the bench. Then we followed that up with some bad shots and bad defense and in less than a minute they went on a 7-0 run.

I really think Leonsis is underestimating the will of people to stray far from the city center for events. He is going to lose a lot of ticket revenue from MD and DC residents/those that work downtown. It will now be an extra effort to make it to the arena. Also, you can’t tie the event to something else whether that be dinner, museums etc. Philly has stadiums inside the city limit but not in the center and have been fighting for years to make it more central.
I live in NY. There is a huge difference for the draw for an event at MSG vs Barclays. People aren’t getting out of work and making the effort to get out to Brooklyn but they will walk take the quick subway for MSG. Tickets for Knicks games are double or more compared to the Nets. Same with is true for concerts.

Not only would this be a blow to us but it would be terrible for DC. It will also likely wind up being bad for Leonsis and both teams. Foot traffic, transportation and the ability to draw interest is much better in a city. You will basically reduce the amount of casual fans by increasing g the effort to attend events and activities before and after.

Can somebody explain this proposal to me? Are they proposing that schools can directly pay the student athletes up to a certain amount? Would this eliminate NIL money going to the athlete? NIL money seems to be way above the proposed payment from the school so I am not sure why anyone would consider this as an alternative.
