Defensive rebounding is a huge issue. If they were pulling down boards we would be up double digits.

Love seeing Cooley come out on the court to pump up the crowd.

This is horrific. It is literally a Cuse Jersey. Why not wear Blue and Gray at the Blue and Gray scrimmage? Or even an all black jersey with slight orange detailing?

What is the excuse for not having a midnight madness type event? Do we have to wait a few years for Cooley to demand it?
It is incredibly important to have an event like that to foster community on campus and get the students involved.
As I said before, if there was ever a time to promote the hell out of the program this is it. Instead we get the status quo of silence minus a 10 AM zoom on a weekday.

How can we listen to that conversation? Join the hoop club? If there was ever a year that the program should be as visible as possible to anyone willing to look/listen this is the year. There should be no barriers and everyone should be clamoring for eyes and ears.

I am going to preface this by stating I hate football. It is the worst of our major sports. 3.5 hours plus for 10 minutes of action and an arrogant fan base that belittles every other sport.
I can’t stand how money has ruined college sports by chasing the almighty football dollar. At the end of all of this we will likely wind up with two super conferences. The sad part is the same 6-8 teams will compete for a championship each year and this movement will mean nothing. Meanwhile everyone else will be digging in their claws just to get the scraps from those teams.
The UConn admin knows they will never compete with Alabama, OSU etc. They just want their paycheck and they don’t care at all about the non-revenue sports and the detrimental effects these moves have for them.

Time for a new forward looking discussion thread. Would anyone mind giving a little insight into what the “breakfast club” is?

We now need a power center, with muscle, quickness, basketball skills, touch and a heart to own the inside. Also, a strong all-purpose skilled big guard with athleticism. Would also like to see them add a pass first, defensive minded point guard. If he was a grad transfer to add some experience to the back court that would really help the depth of the team for next year. I pictured Brumbaugh as the pass first PG. he will obviously need to mature but he does have a year of practicing at a major university under his belt.

His most important recruiting visit... Two profoundly unattractive people I’m 40 and I will sign up to look like Pitino when I’m 70/71 right now. He is in fantastic shape for his age.

Bad showing by Creighton but you also have to give credit to SDSU defense.

There is no reason for anybody who was remotely involved for the last 6 seasons to be anywhere near the day to day of the program. They can join all the other basketball alumni and participate in the same way as the rest.

He is from Largo, MD and went to Georgetown Prep so there is a definite chance he would be interested in following Cooley.

I love Jay Wright calling Pitino's Iona defense "maniacal". That is what the Hoyas need. I mean if a coach can get his players to play like maniacs- I want that coach. You can’t have him because he’s icky

And the meltdown from UConn fans if PC advances and they don’t would be quite fun. This game is another reminder that we could have Iona's coach but Jack doesn't want it. Jack is probably the least competent person to be leading this search. Listening to Pitino during time outs and at the half really illustrates how great he is. Talking up his players, the things he notices, he’d be fantastic but we are too good him (sarcasm).

Now that Marquette has thumped my Catamounts, I am all in on Marquette, all of the BE teams except UCONN: I hope Pitino's kids beat em. Agreed as a high school Gael and both of my parents being alumni of Iona I’m definitely pulling for them. Plus them winning is an eff you to Jack, lol

Here we go…better hop the admin actually has “our guy” locked down or we will be welcoming Mike Brey to the Hilltop.

Better for the Thompson family to prosper rather than the University carry on the clear message of John Thompson....is there a deflated basketball in the Thompson Athletic Center? Does it mean anything anymore or should we just let Ronny and Jack carry on?

Look, at this moment before the first round of the tourney is played out, it sure looks like Cooley. He is classy. I really like him. We will slowly improve with him and may love him 3-4 years from now where he has us. But for tomorrow. For next year, we NEED Pitino. He will do it quickly. He will not only be a good Xs and Os coach, a good recruiter, but just his name will bring players our NIL will hardly be able to afford. Name recognition. So do you want the slow but sure move back or a flash of panache? I just would love JDG come out and say why no interview or consideration of Pitino. Then we can decide if after all these years he has not gotten stale. Here is the thing, we hire Pitino in two days and it will be in the national media that Georgetown is back, we are relevant again and are contenders. There will be actual talk about final fours etc. We hire Cooley and there will be regional Northeast stories about how we poached a fellow Big East coach and how this will create a rivalry. We need the sure thing right now. A return to national prominence with one of the greatest coaches of all time while giving him the opportunity to help us pick/groom the next. With the position we are in I do not think it is a stretch to think that Jack is the only person who would not even consider Pitino. Every other school in our position would interview him. Even if it is just out of courtesy that he is the parent of an alum.

If we can agree that we will not find every thing we want in one coach, why not think of what we need now and what we want for the next 15 years like this: what we need right now is someone who can take a dysfunctional program, and get it running well. Good point Omega makes that we will never leave the Thompson legacy behind (nor should we) but that's not the same as keeping Ronny on and maintaining business as usual. Please, no. It means honoring the things that Big John valued most: winning and graduating young men from a school that opened doors for them that weren't open before. OK, get us on our feet winning games, retaining and developing players, and graduating them best we can given the NIL and portal realities. If we think of this phase of program rebirth as maybe being in solid shape in 3-5 years, and if we are truthful with ourselves in admitting that the person to do this must be someone with expertise, experience, and skills on and of the court, Pitino is where we should be focusing our search and talks. He checks all these boxes, and he's got a 5 year window and fire in his belly to do the job. Add all we have said here about the many other ways he is right for the job, and you make the choice even simpler. In the meantime you let Dennis Gates know that his next step may be right here, foster a relationship with him, and you're looking at what we want for the next 15+ years. If Jack and the rest could get behind this way of looking at what's in front of us, it will make the job of reassuring the pearl clutchers and unforgivers who don't want RP here. I worked in public education for 30+ years. The best principals I worked with were the ones who were clear on what needed and wanted, and took the lead on educating the grumbling parents who couldn't see the forest for the trees. I want Jack and the Board and Lee to step up and be proactive in defending RP's hiring and let the wins and the program rising up from the ashes win the naysayers over. The problem with all of this is that it is Jack who can’t see what is needed. He can’t explain it to the Pearl clutches because he is one of them (they are likely a small minority).
