Hibbert not afraid to "get low" on defense. Huh?:

In past seasons the GU game notes (from guhoyas.com) would usually indicate the expected starting lineup. Not sure if they'll be doing a similar game notes package for all games but one would figure they'd issue it perhaps today or at the very least early Monday.

Why else would he say "last week" unless they signed on the dotted line? That's what I was thinking as well, considering that the 3 recruits in question had all made their verbal commitments several weeks back, if I'm not mistaken. I don't go too crazy following the recruiting scene so I could be off-base here.

Have Egerson or Spann signed their letter of intent yet? I am a bit worried that news hasn't sprung yet because I believe that tommorow is the last day they can do so. Any insight? According to the Washington Times article on Nov 16, the three "verbal" recruits had committed last week (presuming that Barker means "committed in writing"): Significant backcourt help is on the way next season, as Georgetown has commitments from three top-150 prep recruits last week in combo guard Josh Thornton, and wing players Octavious Spann and Marc Egerson. And Thompson and his staff narrowly missed on one of the nation's top players, program-building center Vernon Goodridge of Philadelphia's Lutheran Christian Academy. Goodridge, who most expect to be a one-season college player, chose Mississippi State over the Hoyas and his mother's wishes.washingtontimes.com/sports/20041116-122224-2990r.htm

Something JT3 was quoted as saying that reminded me a lot of a "process over results" mantra that (if I recall correctly) a former favorite "love-to-hate poster" on this board, doseofreality (is he/she still around?) often made reference to: "I would not be here if I didn't think it was possible to win another national championship at Georgetown," says Thompson. "But that's big-picture thinking and a long-term goal. I'm more of a process guy. My job is to work as hard as I can to improve this team and this program every single day. If I do that, I have confidence that positive results will follow."washingtontimes.com/sports/20041116-122224-2990r.htm

No major revelations, just further creedence to the general dissatisfaction with his personal development: The situation just wasn’t right.

Thanks for the feedback Lawya and Jersey34. I offer a hearty congratulations and thanks to all (007 and anyone else) who were involved in the effort and finding a way to get the Athletic Dept in the loop and supportive of a student led initiative such as this. Kudos also to the AD / Hoop Club. I look forward to seeing the gray shirts in the stands.

Thanks for the heads up on the article. I recall seeing the thread over the summer regarding the "We are Georgetown" shirts, but didn't realize that they were being given to all student ticket holders and/or other game attendees. Just out of curiousity, does anyone (GUHoya2007, or anyone else) know who's footing the bill for the shirts? Is it the Athletic Department, Hoop Club, or some other generous soul. Just wondering?
Thanks

As of a month ago, he was still at Barbary Coast, working as a pit boss at the craps tables in the middle of the floor. Not that I stalked him or anything..... Thanks Cam. I think we will try to pay a visit to BC in that case. Just out of curiousity, did you happen to play at one of his tables... if so, any extra Hoya luck as a result?

I seem to recall someone mention a couple years back that he worked at the Barbary Coast and was wondering if anyone knew for sure if he still worked there, or perhaps another casino. Just to clarify my intent: some friends (a couple of whom are GU alum) and I will be out in Vegas next weekend and figured it would be cool to see one of the basketball players we saw play while we were at Georgetown.
Nevada Hoya, by chance would you happen to know?
Thanks

Speaking of guhoyas.com site updates (or the lack thereof), does anyone happen to know if JT III inherits any leadership with this summer's basketball camp? The website still has the enrollment information with that picture of Esherick where he's leaning really casually on the podium, looking like like he just knocked back a pitcher or two at the Tombs before lecturing the kiddies about running the single fist. www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/school/2004_basketball_camp.html

While I'm not defending the guhoyas.com website, as its deficiencies are fairly well known, is it possible that those in the SID who were previously responsible for updating the men's basketball portion of the site have since been let go as part of JT III's "house cleaning"?

Exactly Big Dog. Therein lies the huge concern. JTIII can either pay homage to his father, who got him the job, by continuing his scheduling and media relations legacy, or he can undercut his father by providing the necessary changes in those areas. Why can't he do both? I think its entirely possible for JT III to pay homage to certain aspects of the tradition his father has set forth without necessarily adopting ALL of them. Clearly he was his own man at Princeton in regards to non-conference scheduling.
