I seem to recall someone mention a couple years back that he worked at the Barbary Coast and was wondering if anyone knew for sure if he still worked there, or perhaps another casino. Just to clarify my intent: some friends (a couple of whom are GU alum) and I will be out in Vegas next weekend and figured it would be cool to see one of the basketball players we saw play while we were at Georgetown.
Nevada Hoya, by chance would you happen to know?
Thanks

As of a month ago, he was still at Barbary Coast, working as a pit boss at the craps tables in the middle of the floor. Not that I stalked him or anything.....

I think we will try to pay a visit to BC in that case. Just out of curiousity, did you happen to play at one of his tables... if so, any extra Hoya luck as a result?

I didn't play there on that trip, but I'll be back in Vegas in two weeks and will probably give it a run if I see him.

When a couple of us went out to Vegas for spring break senior year (1998) we stopped by the Barbary Coast and chatted with Chico. He was really friendly and comped us drinks at the bar. No luck at the craps table.

Another Hoya connection - Barbary Coast is part of the Gaughan portfolio of casinos.

Yep, that is the one. Ronnie Highsmith was working there too the last time I heard. Hey, Gold Hoya, any connection with the Gold Coast? LOL. Both Ronnie and Chico were present at the reception, when we had Father O'Donovan out here a few years ago. I still have the sheet of paper on which all the attendees signed. Interesting to have Chico, Ronnie, and Brendan on one of those sheets of paper.
It seems we should have a Hoya party in Las Vegas with all the grads coming to town. I hope all of you will come to the John Carroll Awards weekend in 2006.

Is it unusual to work at a casino after a Georgetown education?

Free Nachos is the best screen name ever. I alos think "Slot E." would have been a good one for you. Where it says "E." above, it should say "E." -- Slot E.. Stupid buggy board. Very weird -- it doesn't like the word J-O-C-K-E-Y.
