How can I get into the chatroom at 1:00 PST? The dreaded firewall at work leaves me no alternate than to follow on Yahoo, but I will be there in spirit. I'm in the same boat Nevada re: the firewall, but fortunately I am able to get the 1260 AM radio feed (perhaps you may be able to as well).

I didn't see a direct link on DFW's site, so I was wondering if someone could post the link to the Hoyachat room on this thread. Thanks in advance. Also, in case anyone's interested, here's a link to the 1260 website which will have the game this afternoon (you'll need to set-up a user name and password if you don't already have one): www.sportstalk1260.com/listenlive.phpGo Hoyas!

Pretty interesting article which (at times) talks specifically about Villanova's challenges in getting games on TV, but spends the rest of the time addressing more generally the current environment and aids in understanding the challenges a team like the Hoyas are having with getting TV coverage, even on a local basis. www.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/stories/122104aal.html

You may need to subscribe to see the article, but I've excerpted the part that pertains to Green. The facts regarding JG's recruitment sound a little off (didn't Esh sign him?), but the praise is good to see nonetheless: FRESHMAN TO WATCH
Wait until you see Georgetown's Jeff Green.
In three games last week, he averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 blocks. He's 6-8 and plays big, small and in-between.
New Georgetown coach John Thompson III, who is running a lot of the Princeton stuff, got Green very late in the recruiting day. Even though he came in completely under the radar of most recruiting gurus, Green is going to be a star.
Green played at Northwestern High in Hyattsville, Md., the same school that produced Maryland's Len Bias.www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/10421910.htm

I actually just found the schedule on the Univ. of Hawaii site: If we beat Oral Roberts, we play the winner of the Hawaii-Long Beach St. game. Conversely, if we lose we play the loser of their game. uhathletics.hawaii.edu/schedule.html?p=8

Just checked out the RPIs of the teams playing in the Rainbow Classic thru Dec 12 games (source: kenpom.com):
Clemson - 19 Alabama-Birmingham - 31 Georgetown - 35 Hawaii - 39 Oral Roberts - 114 Indiana State - 133 USC - 199 Long Beach State - 218
I realize its way to early to be giving much (if any) thought to RPI, but, assuming the tournament works in a round robin-style (i.e., win and advance), the Hoyas should have the opportunity to face at least one high-level RPI team (i.e., ranked 1-50) if they can get a first round win against Oral Roberts. Either way, Oral Roberts should pose a challenge and serve as a decent barometer for what type of Hoya team we can expect entering conference play. Has a tournament bracket been made public yet (i.e., beyond the first round matchups)?

FWIW - Our SOS rank is currently 24 for the 2005 season (as per Pomeroy's RPI site below). Granted, this will dip a bit after San Jose St, but still not that bad considering we'll have 3 Rainbow Classic games which would presumably offset some of the softness with Norfolk St and Howard still looming on the schedule. kenpom.com/rpi.php

That would make me more confident if I had any idea what your teams' win-loss record has been while wearing them. ;D While I maintain no formal won-loss statistics for my "lucky" boxers, let's just say that the Hoyas win more than they lose when I wear them. But then again, perhaps that is in part because I shamelessly pad that track record by wearing them when we play the Howards and the Citadels of the college basketball world. I still like to think that they're lucky and hope that they work their magic tonight against the Illini!

Thanks, IllBanian, those highlights were really sweet. It was great to see both sides of the highlights for a change. Wallace's reverse scoop layup never ceases to amaze me. If you could do this for every game, you would forever be my hero. I would like to echo CAHoya07's thoughts re: the Comcast highlights. Real nice to see for us out-of-towners. Thanks!

at the post game reception for the UCLA vs GU game in westwood, lang said point blank that GU would not go in on anything with Feinstein. Are there any indications if this anti-Feinstein line of thinking may have left the Athletic Dept when Lang retired?

Do you have a link saying that Egerson, Spann, and Thornton have signed? There is nothing on the front page or GOHOYAS.COM. Thanks. The signing of Egerson, Spann, and Thornton was confirmed in a Washington Post article from a week or two back: Hoyas Notes: Georgetown signed three players during the recently concluded early signing period: 6-2 guard Josh Thornton (Caesar Rodney High in Camden, Del.), 6-7 forward Octavius Spann (Banneker High in College Park, Ga.), and 6-5 forward Marc Egerson (two-time Delaware player of the year at Glasgow High who is now attending prep school in Philadelphia). www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A2615-2004Nov21.html

Here are a couple of the gems, particularly Ashanti sounding like a proud grandma: "He has a lovely jump shot," said Cook, who connected on 3-of-6 long range shots himself.
Georgetown coach John Thompson III said he wasn't surprised with Wallace's deft shooting touch.
"Jonathan can shoot, it's as simple as that," he said. "In the previous two games he hasn't made as many shots as he's capable of shooting.
"He throws it up and it goes in. You look at the minutes he put in tonight (33) and he has two turnovers and four assists. That's poise." ...
... "Wallace was 2-of-7 coming into the game, but that's two games. Going 6-for-8, it's like bolts of lightning," said Davidson coach Bob McKillop. "Once they strike, it just sends shivers into you.
"When you look at stats, Darrel Owens (six points) is probably their best (3-point shooter) and he made two. Thirty-one out of 47 shots (are) threes? That's a heck of a lot."www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/10306878.htm?1c

Just bumping this up as a reminder to anyone who might have missed it last week. Also, it appears MCI is still looking for someone to tape the game for him...
