WASHINGTON- Georgetown University Men’s Basketball Head Coach John Thompson III announced today that sophomore Jerrelle Benimon will transfer. “Jerrelle is transferring and although he has not announced where he will go, wherever it is, we wish him all of the best.” Coach Thompson said. Benimon, a 6-7 forward from Fauquier High School in Warrenton, Va., saw action in every game this season, averaging 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 points while playing 10.3 minutes per contest.

Damn. Just seconds late breaking the news So we'll have an open schollie next season? Not surprising - still perplexed as to why this guy got so much (relative to the rest of the bench) PT last season. The reset continues...

I wonder if we fill the schollie this year or hold it for a 2012 recruit... Think Semaj Christon could reclassify to 2011?

Semaj Christon is apparently heading to St. Thomas More Prep in CT for '12 season.

Good luck to him - from his energy during the games he looked like an incredibly hard worker. I think he'd be better suited at a mid major but he has plenty of tools to be a successful player. I hope he does well.

Wow, the people who were harping on serious roster turnover really hit the nail right on the head...

You're all class, man. Do you even realize this is a college team, not a pro one? Sometimes you post as if these are players under contract. Is it too hard to wish a kid well and thank him for his effort. He wasn't inserting himself into those games last season.

Probably the only time in my life where I will agree with bronxhoya.
I'm not deluding myself or applying revisionist history. I know that he was not a huge contributer and he had more than a few SMH moments, to say the least.
But anyone who works that hard is valuable for practice if nothing else, and more often than not, you see them get a lot better as they get into their junior and senior seasons.
Too bad about the grades, if that's really what it was & good luck.

He worked hard and gave everything he had. Wish him well and hope there is little to no cheering about this.
