Other sports deal with this as well. There are probably a dozen rising seniors that were admitted to Georgetown to play football in 2008 that eventually left the team; all but one is still enrolled despite no longer being on "athletic" aid or scholarship. (The one transfer quit mid-season over playing time and now is a backup at New Hampshire.) Many of the others originally received some packaged aid due to playing football, but this was then convertible to general financial aid in the process after they left. . Yeah. This apparently happens in big time NCAA football too. Apparently Virginia Tech gets 1-5 transfers a year. And most coaches won't guarantee starting or playing time. You really can't do that, though the recruit will want it.

I'm pretty sure Old Dominion had interest in him out of high school. I see him ending up somewhere in the CAA personally.

ODU was listed as having interest, but I'd be surprised if Taylor took him. I mean, does anyone think he's really good enough to play for ODU? They were pretty much as good as we were last year. Maybe he could be a bench player for them, 7th 8th man. But is it worth it to tie up a scholarship for his red-shirt year to get a 7th or 8th man? I'd rather roll the dice on somebody currently in high school.

I think he'd fit in well at a team like ODU. Best of luck to Jerrelle, I can't complain about your choice, hopefully you will find a team in a league where you can produce offensively. Additionally the year off will help you develop an offensive game.

Surprisingly strong list of schools Jerrelle is choosing from. I'd love to see him excel somewhere like ODU or Xavier.
