The word from Cameron is that the tech on Monroe was for words from a fan behind the bench.

the Hoyas won that night, too. Get used to it baby. www.hoyabasketball.com/rosters/alltime-b.htm#jeffbullisCan't remember if that game happened (HoyaChris will know), but I do remember Jeff telling me how much fun it was leaning out the window of the team bus as it pulled away from Manley Field House and asking the fans who won the game. Great energy by the crowd tonight. Let me confirm that, yet again, Jack's favorite referee Karl Hess remains completely clueless. Hoyas outrebounded SU in the first half when it really counted. SU gains some of its rebounding advantage by parking their frontcourt in the lane - three seconds could have been called on nearly every play. Jonny Flynn is going to get knocked on his keister one of these days since he mugs for the camera and shows up the opponent almost as much as some of the UCon players. Great offensive attacking game by the Hoyas tonight. Very very nice to see Austin's stroke return. Difficult to single out any one player when all contributed a lot to the win. DaJuan's dunk was number 3 of ESPN's top 10 plays tonight (and Hess predictably called the ridiculous T on him). The 'Cuse fan's memory is somewhat flawed - at least as to specifics - but Bullis did have a big game that afternoon out nowhere. It is possible that he and Ed Spriggs combined to go 13 of 15 from the line and I do remember being fairly stunned by that event. I wish I had something more cogent to say at this time, but the reality is there is nothing better than beating Syracuse. At times last night I was speechless - except for screaming at Karl Hess through my TV.

Yeah, and coach has tried to instill that in the fans at Midnight Madness and other things, but I think it's just easier for everyone to do it in the same cadence as "Hoya Saxa" SPEAKING OF WHICH, maybe it was mentioned on the other thread, but how awesome was the long (of course, now I can't remember if it was "Hoya Saxa" or "We Are Georgetown") cheer towards the end of the Providence game. The fans didn't stop the entire time the officials were reviewing. It was awesome. With average board scores in the 2100 range, you would think that the students could handle doing it right.

As long as we are on the topic of WE ARE ............GEORGETOWN, it would help if the fans could get it right.
The way the crowd is doing the call and response runs the We Are Georgetown together.
The way the cheer was done historically is
"We are (beat, beat) Georgetown (beat, beat)
We are (beat, beat) Georgetown (beat, beat)"
The cheer is much more powerful with the pauses.

How do you all think the addition of Krstic will affect Jeff? The Thunder have basically nobody at Center right now, so Jeff is free to get the majority of inside points. On the other hand, it could take some of the defensive attention off him and Durant and it could definitely help with rebounds. I don't know Krstic very well at all, but he seemed like a solid starter with New Jersey and the "experts" keep talking about him being a great pick-up. What do you all think? Positive effect on Jeff? Can't imagine another player with some talent not helping the team and him. While I don't know enough about Krstic to speculate about his impact on the Thunder offense, I have seen most of OKC's games, and Jeff is not getting a high percentage of his points inside the paint. If anything, during his recent scoring binge he is probably fifth on the Thunder in inside scoring, behind Durant, Westbrook, Desmond Mason and Chris Wilcox. That said, the move to power forward seems to be working very well, at least offensively. Part of this has to do with the continued development of Westbrook as a point guard and the added movement in the offense associated with Westbrook's penetration. Additionally, Jeff is now typically matched up against power forwards who are not as quick as he is nor as comfortable in guarding the perimeter. In general, the move of Durant to small forward has also removed some of the secondary ballhandling duties from Durant and helped with the offensive movement. Defense has been another story, and Jeff, especially early on, was getting brutalized as he has not been a very good post defender against power forwards. His interior defense seems to be improving however, and concerns about his ability as a defensive rebounder appear to have been misplaced.

I'm driving across the country today and want a back up plan if I can't find a place with ESPN. Anyone have a url for a live video feed? Channelsurfing.net doesn't seem to be broadcasting it. I will probably be near Greg's home town by gametime, so maybe Mrs. Monroe could host a gamewatch. Check in to a $39 hotel with ESPN. A friend and I used to do this in the early 1980s when there was no cable in Chicago, but a couple hotels by the airport could get the game on dish. You get a lot of strange looks when you ask for a room for 3 hours while carrying a couple of six packs.

Real conversation.
Father: "I'm flying in tomorrow morning, do you want to meet at Clyde's for brunch"
Son: "Are you kidding, there are 20 of us going over to Verizon at 10 a.m. to get good seats in the student section"
I have never been prouder.

Much to my surprise, I am pretty convinced that Jeff's NBA future is as a 3. He has been an extremely effective defender against small forwards, but tends to get physically punished by fours. Moreover, he hasn't shown much ability to rebound on the offfensive end, although this might just be the OKC offense. Durant is a natural 3.
I think he would be a much better player in an offense with more structure. While Westbrook is a great athlete, it is unclear that he is a point guard at all.
Jeff might be better off playing someplace else.
