They also made a better deal, picking up Thabo Sefolosha from the Bulls for whichever one of the Nuggets or Spurs 1st round picks is worse this season. He's a good, young, defensive wing who seems likely to start given the Thunder's utter lack of options at the 2. Thabo is pretty good for OKC's purposes, long for a combo guard and the Thunder don't really need a scorer, which Sefolosha is not by any means. While they might not need a scorer, the Thunder 2 must be able to hit a wide open three. The Thunder would have won a couple more times in the past two weeks if Kyle Weaver - who has been playing the 2 since Desmond Mason went down for the season - could hit a few 3s since teams are now completely backing off of him and challenging him to hit the shot.

I count FIVE times this season where GU and the caps have played (or will play) on the same Saturday at the Verizon Center. Five games. Big deal. There are only TWO Days this year where the caps and hoyas have home games on the same day (these were the pitt game and last saturdays game) I am a fan of both teams (they are the only two i follow) and have written the Site's owner an email which gives him a clear picture of the situation, that i consider unbiased (or rather complete biased towards both sides) because i want what is best for both teams. Also as surprising as it may be for some of you to understand that blog, "On Frozen Blog" is considered to be one of the best hockey blogs on the net (in fact many of the caps blogs are considered such). The proprietor is a very intelligent man who is passionate about hockey and is very good friends with Ted Leonsis and has been issued press passes to many a caps game. He is not Jamison Flemming. A final word, by my count the ice conditions at verizon have (by my count) cause serious injury to 6 players over the last two seasons. One injury cost the Captain of the capitals to miss almost all of last year with a groin pull and his production has never been what it was three season ago (where he scored 30 goals). The issue is serious but is not GUs fault. The Caps have incurred more groin injuries on the road than at home over the past two years, suggesting that if ice is the sole cause of groin injuries, Verizon ice is, on average, better than away ice.

This is not a Verizon Center issue, but a Caps issue.
There are metrics for measuring ice quality specified by the NHL, and the Verizon Center does well against those measurements.
I was at Saturday night's game. The ice quality was poor at the start of the second and third periods and it was because the ice was not given enough time to freeze after being resurfaced. This reflects conscious marketing decisions by the Caps, specifically, eating up 5-6 minutes at the start of the intermissions with a Mite hockey game and a human puck contest. By the way, the Mites were adorable.
Parenthetically, it is a lot easier posting about the ice surface at the Verizon Center than our play there. We need more hockey threadsl.

Worst case scenario... Summers is out for a couple of weeks and then returns to Georgetown for his senior year? And, this likely means that Sims or Vaughn will pick up the starting position, and thus the experience that comes with it, for the next few games. Doesn't seem like it is all that horrible of an outcome, although I am a bit worried about DaJuan Worst case scenario - Summers is out for the year, we become even more disjointed, continue to plummet and play in the NIT. Dajuan realizes the fragile nature of an athlete's career, declares for draft to try to make some money now in case injuries begin to plague him. Greg is so disappointed by NIT appearance he also takes the money and runs. JTIII hears one too many questions at press conference about frustration of HoyaTalk posters, decides to take Alabama job where no one cares about hoops. Georgetown brings back Craig Esherick to run the show. Now THAT is a worst case scenario !! Moreover, other teams are allowed to score baskets against us with six players on the floor.

You also need to be prepared to buy the whole remaining book as opposed to trying to cherrypick just the next day's ticket. Many people will be relieved to not have to sell to scalpers and will often sell at face, but they don't want to have to sell to both you and a scalper.

Hey, don't count Nikita in this group. He was 1-2. So everybody else was 8-41.

Without question, the worst loss of the JT III era. We are now at extreme risk of having to play on Tuesday at the Big East Tournament. This is a short-sighted statement. As are people saying they hope JTIII leaves. No one who loved this program prior to his arrival would say something so stupid. The worst loss of the JTIII era unquestionably was at St. Johns his first season coaching. Which part of the statement is short-sighted? I was at the St John's game and this one feels worse. As to playing on Tuesday, One of the 9 (alleged) NCAA tournament teams has to play on Tuesday, and 9-9 probably gets you there. I thought it was going to be ND, but right now it looks like us.

In that case, GUHoyas.com should correct Jason's profile: High School: Played four years of basketball at Bishop O'Connell where he was named captain ... Named All-Met Player of the Year and State Most Valuable Player as a senior ... Averaged 20.2 points per game as a senior, helping the Knights advance to the final of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and Virginia private school tournaments .... Scored in double figures in every game as a senior and in 71 of his last 72 games ... A two-time All-Met selection ... Named to the McDonald's All American Team. Personal: Son of Audrey Clark ... Has two sisters, Keshia who attended George Mason, and Tiffany ... Plans to major in sociology. This, I think, answers my original question about the Sports Information staff. This is not an irrelevant error since it gets repeated often by TV announcers who are only doing their homework.

Jeff with one of his best games ever, hits a turnaround jump shot off glass at the buzzer to beat the warriors. He finished with 26 points on 9 of 14 shooting. Photo of game winnerAfter the shot

In the stairwell on the left leading up to the balcony in McDonough there is a five foot by eight foot photograph of the court rush. It is impossible not to look for yourself in the picture. Although my Alumni friends and I left the assault for the students, we all look really, really happy.

Anything more from JTIII, at least in public, would be massively counterproductive. He defended him on the court, but the call had been made and it certainly was not going to be reversed after the game. Cahill is a big east ref and it will not help the team to have the coach feuding with him.

Here s the issue I see. Either we have a player, monroe, who lied about not saying anything, or we have a coach who wouldn't defend his player in what seems to be an obvious situation. Regardless I think the call was terrible, but if monroe insists on having said anything, jt3 should have backed him up post game and made some typw of argument unless he believes greg was lying.

Think about it. The Hoyas were +15 at Cameron in the 28 minutes when Greg Monroe was on the court. By extension that means we were -24 in the 12 minutes when he was on the bench. Put succinctly, Greg was worth 2.5 points per minute against Duke. And this is even giving full effect to his defensive effort after the technical which was borrowed from a spanish bullfighting ring.

A fan on the Duke board is also saying that the words were spoken by a fan in the row behind the bench.

It was a fan from the back of the bench that makes this 10,000 times worse. The call should have been assessed to an Assistant Coach or Jannsenn then. Not the team's best player. If that is the truth and the ref singled out Monroe, then we have a far more serious problem than anyone ever imagines. And I am talking a bout a three letter word beginning with f. No, the ref thought it was Monroe, but it was a fan.
