Congratulations to Malcolm. I wish him the very best. It seems to me that he could have been developed to be a much better player. I dont understand why he was not. I’ll bet he was an excellent student. It’s a real mystery why most of the guys failed to develop over the last six years. I blame Trump.

Flying in to NYC on Tuesday evening and will be at the worlds most famous arena to witness Ewing's last game in person on Wed.
Who else will be at the BET this year?

I'm late to this convo and it's likely been covered but my 2 cents. If I were Denver and his family I would be frustrated too. You were recruited to be the backup PG at worst (with Dante in fold) and then Primo was brought in with the transfer influx. And even with Dante gone you can't carve out minutes on a 6 win 1 conference win team where the starting Guards have been abysmal for long stretches. As a sibling/parent I'd be livid too. Having said that, from the minutes he has played - he's looked poor. Even if we take away the shooting woes and chalk that up to the need for more playing time and comfort level - the thing that has shocked me is how poor his ball handling is. From the limited action I've seen him play its obvious why he's not getting backup PG duties and it's due to his ball handling or lack thereof more than anything else. My guess is that hes going to be an undersized shooting guard who can light up from 3 at somewhere like Monmouth (close to home) down the road. Hopefully he sticks around under a new HC, amd develops the needed handle at this level and goes to be a Gtown success story. But that seems like a pipe dream on many fronts. Likely another in a long line of barely knew you players over the last 6 seasons. I agree that Denver did not earn any playing time based on his performance when he was on the floor. He had some open 3’s and missed most of them. He clearly does not have D1 point guard skills. If he can come off the bench and hit over 40% of his three point shots, he could be a real asset in future seasons. If he is not showing that in practice, then he would likely not see much playing time. If he decides to transfer, I wish him success in finding a good fit for his skills. I can’t find much to blame on Ewing here. Anglin was a highly rated 4 star with a reputation as a deadly 3 point shooter. He had chances and shot poorly when he had those chances. Based on what he showed in those games, Ewing needed to look at Reilly and Bristol, two sophomores (in terms of eligibility) as better alternatives. Denver was given chances and did not impress when he had those chances. Apparently I was in a coma and missed all the games that Denver got minutes. Apparently that is when he proved that he is such a liability that we can't even consider sitting Primo for 5 minutes a game to give him some run and get a feel for the competition level and have a remote chance to get confidence in his shot. Imagine how much worse some of these games would have been if we had traded a couple of late game exhausted TOs or jumpers that tired legs send to the front of the rim from Primo for a couple of missed 3 pointers from Denver. And heaven forbid if Denver he had gotten to play in front of his family this week in another of our meaningless losses whose outcome was determined long ago. How could Pat sleep at night if he were to allow that to happen under his watch. The team has yet to recover from having Riley be forced in to the starting line from the deep bench, I don't know how they lived through him averaging double digits when he finally got to play. Fingers crossed that Ryan doesn't get the chance to get comfortable on the court, we can't have him scoring points or getting rebounds and taking minutes 25 thru 30 from Wahab. Too bad for Denver that all of the "personal reasons" that Ewing doles out were already spoken for. Denver would have been better off if he has some "personal issues" back in December so he could save his eligibility and possibly more importantly save himself some frustration.

vs SJU, Nickleberry was leading the huddle and drawing up the last second play with Ewing a step back behind the circle that had the players who ere in the game.
Is that new? i have not seen a huddle that wasn't led by Ewing before.
The games have been so terrible that this was one of the only ones that i was watching closely at all much less in the final minutes so maybe it has happened a lot i haven't noticed. or maybe it is so rare that we need a play drawn up for a special situation... or maybe ewing is recognizing x's and o's are not his strength.
As a side/related note. Hadn't occurred to me before but it is crazy to think back to when Ewing was hired and how most were worried that he wouldnt be able to relate to kids these days and might not be up for the recruiting grind in general and thus not get the talent. yet it has been the complete opposite. he has recruited well, brought in a lot of talent. But he has failed at every other aspect of the job.

Fewer people who will know a lot about this train wreck and might not realize the wretched depths Georgetown has sunk to, so maybe this is good news.

We're bad, but Dante isn't making one bit of difference here, both because we're so bad and because he's not particularly good. Before passing judgment, let’s see what a very good coach and staff can do with him vs. what a poor coach and staff did with him. Not making a difference with the current coach who doesn't know what the words "sub" or "bench" mean in basketball so this is true. But, with any other coach it would make a difference to have a back up point guard even if they had much less talent, experience and leadership than what Dante has to offer.

Can we start a gofundme to actually pay students to start causing an uproar about this on campus? I know the apathy is so great that most don’t even care. But maybe we can form a team of “brand ambassadors” to start making some noise on campus. You know signs and protests and the like. They don’t have to really care at all about basketball. We can just tell them what to write and say. I figure if we can raise like $20k, we can pay 200 students $100 each to protest on Healy lawn for a while. Show up to games with paper bags on their heads. That kind of stuff. This is actually a great idea. People, especially young people, love to protest and yearn to feel like they are part of something big and meaningful. I would donate to this. I have experience in grassroots activism and marketing and would gladly volunteer some time to help plan and execute the campaign. Anyone interested in possibly making this happen DM me.

Excited that I can now have a high major team i can support for the next two years. Good luck to Dante, I will be checking out more of their games and cheering for them in the tourney at least as long as he is there.

Getting back to coach Ewing. I think the thing that has bothered me most about him this year (and I'll be honest I really thought up until last year that he could turn our program around) is the fact that this year he hasn't given any of his younger recruits a chance to demonstrate what they can or can't do. Sure you want to win all your games but jeez you would have thought that during the OOC we would have seen more rotations with Bass, Anglin, Bristol, Riley and Motumbo. Right now there is no way you can throw them into BE games with the limited exposure they've had to in game action. Sure a couple are transfers but none I believe faced high level D1 competition they will face the rest of the way this year. And guys like Motumbo, Riley and Anglin were highly recruited and Bristol was a MEAC Rookie of the Year. I really hope they stick around and a new coach gives them some serious pt. it is hard for me to fathom that i would ever think such a thing... but i do because this is how low it has gotten ... if i knew any of these kids personally I would have advised them to transfer before the end of the semester. these young men only get one chance to be a 19 year old with great athletic talent and to play college basketball and it is criminal that he refuses to play any of them. It is bad enough that he has taken from me and many of us the joy and hope and excitement that we had while following our Hoyas but what he has done to the kids on the bench is so beyond that ... I don't have words to express my anger about it and I cant imagine how i would feel if i was the father or brother or uncle of one of these guys.

Akok came ready to go. He was a proven college basketball defensive commodity and a player who couldxstep out and shoot 3s. Pat has had nothing to do with his development. On the other hand, Q and Tim were brought in as freshmen and Pat could not develop their defensive skills. Once again I'm not defending Ewing because I agree with you. I'm stating it isn't hurting Tim playing against weaker competition. If he was on pretty much any power 5 team he wouldn't even get any minutes outside garbage time. You can not say they are getting good numbers because it is against inferior competition because they all have played tougher schedules, thus far, than the Hoyas have. Obviously that will change once conference season starts but right now they have played higher level competition than their replacements have. And they are putting up numbers far better than what they did as Hoyas and better than most of their replacements have thus far this year. No one is saying Tim or many of the others would get rotation level minutes (whether that is the 37 minutes per game Ewing plays the 6 people he deems worthy of play time or the much lower amount on any other team in the country) on a good team, but that when so many layers appear to be better when not playing for the Hoyas, that is indicative of something.

When schools recruit players and it turns out that the player is not going to develop into a Big East caliber player ... is it wrong to push them to transfer? yes, unquestionably, completely wrong.

I would love if someone could explain this to me.
I get that some all league level player or the top player or two on a team where that team is the defacto professional sports team for that area have some value as a spokesperson or by putting their mug on a billboard next to a product, but who in the world is going to pay money for anyone else? Why would a business pay Don Carey or anyone who is just a good or even very good but not NBA level college player at school X or Y anything to use his NIL?

Is it just me, or has every player in the entire portal heard from Georgetown? There must be someone keeping stats on this, I want to know how many people have "heard" from Georgetown vs other schools. I will take any win I can get, for instance, we are currently in first place in the Big East for most players declared for the portal... Winning! According to this list, Georgetown has offered to 119 high school recruits. --Admindocs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DRJed__FndtdPTjTdtKSpuH6qgu7WbSrkT8Z6ZyuruU/edit#gid=455486268

Please, please, please stop engaging with 9797. If you all stop responding to him and quoting him and telling him how much you hate Syracuse fans like him - or whatever team he cheers for - then he will go away, or least be easier to ignore. Yes, we are all annoyed that someone who hates Georgetown comments countless times a day, on every thread, to remind us of that fact but that doesn't mean you have to reply. That only encourages him. He will surely reply to this comment, but i wont engage. Let. It. Be.

We had a disease that attacked the elderly and the state with the most elderly people had the most deaths. Shocking indictment of the Republican governor of that state.

Getting on a flight to JFK today and heading to my 24th BET (How many is this for you MEGAFAN?). Who else will I see there? And who else is shocked that HHC is charging $25 for the pre game reception? These things used to be free with food available and drinks flowing. After this awful season, they should be paying anyone who made a contribution and still opens their emails to attend the reception and giving out free tickets, not the other way around. I think they may have charged once before but historically this was a free event, surprisingly tone deaf even for GU. I definitely will not be attending that function.

On campus arena would be great for the students and most likely lead to a better home court advantage. Also would be great to have a place to host graduation, concerts & other large events. BUT, even if it were possible to clear all the hurdles and make it happen (spoiler alert, not going to happen), it would still be very tough to turn away so many potential supporters. During the JT3 era we were averaging 12K a game, much more for conference games. www.hoyabasketball.com/records/bb_homeatt.htm If we had a 6,000 person arena on campus students would take more of the seats than they do now. When we are good, we would be turning away at least 7,000 on the average night. I am sure the avg ticket cost is over $25 but for arguments sake, at $25 per ticket and 15 home games, that is over $2.6 million in ticket sales. I dont know the details of our rental of the phone booth for games so i am sure that is not pure profit but whatever the break down is, that is a lot of money to leave on the table.

Was Bristol dressed and on the bench for the Butler game? I was pretty sure I saw him on the bench in uniform when the camera panned that direction during the first half but I didn't rewind to be certain.
