I'd be pretty shocked if we played for any significant period without 2 guards on the floor. It would be a turnover fest if they even faked pressure. Much to the dismay of some posters, Green has proven pretty adept at bringing the ball up. I agree that we'll probably have 2 guards out there for the majority of the game, but not because we don't have any forwards (or "non-guards") who can handle the ball.

A great advantage of having the high seed is that we put together a half like the one we just did... and we're still up by a bakers dozen.

CBS sportsline is definitely the best site. I just checked the score there (still 0-0) and our leading scorer, rebounder, and assists man is....... S. Dizdarevic!!! Great site.

I don't even agree that he is overrated.
His play has earned him first team all conference honors ONE year, he wasn't on the midseason Wooden award watch list nor is he on the end of year Wooden watch list. Sure, some people probably started noticing him after he earned BE POY but how does that make someone overrated?
He's actually earning awards based on his play. How does that make someone 'overrated'?

Something is very odd. I was looking at the breakdown for Hoya votes in week 19 -- this week. We are ranked 8. 5 coaches actually put us at 8 2 put us lower than 8 24 put us HIGHER than 8. So how did that get calculated down to "only" an 8th place ranking? I guess I don't understand the math very well. But you know what? None of that matters. What does matter? "Just win baby!" One game at a time. Just keep playing Hoya basketball. It's voters like this true champion who account for a skew like that. When one voter puts us at #14, that means six voters have to put us at #7. Thus, it only takes a couple of clowns to really skew the mean (which is why the median are a better measure). Even if our average ranking is above #8 (i.e. 7.2 or something like that), as long as there are 7 teams in front of us, we will be #8. So that means that if we are at the tail end of a log-jam (3 points behind Wisc & 8 behind UCLA) we could actually have a higher average ranking on coaches' ballots than in the actual poll. But in the end, 7 vs 8 is pretty irrelevant, especially right now.

There is a very, very fine line between feeling slighted because the Hoyas don't get enough coverage and getting nervous about getting too much coverage. I really liked hearing the talking heads' diatribes about how strong of a team we are, but I kind of want them to just shut up now.

Belmont gets to the sweet 16 because BC and Texas Tech always suck in the tournament. At least he made an attempt at rationalizing Belmont over us. But if he or she honestly believes Belmont will then ALSO beat BC or Tech, well I guess I'm not even close to worried about his/her opinion.

Our region might be the toughest, but it's tough because of us as Texas. Our half of the bracket is beautiful.

Congrats Jeff! He definitely deserves the honor and it's great to see his name up there with the cream of the college basketball crop.
Using the Big East's logic, with America's rising population, there are more and more players who deserve recognition. I think first team all america should be expanded to include 11 players.

It was kind of embarassing to see some of the schools with higher paid coaches--San Diego St., Alabama Birmingham, etc.

It's also kinda crazy that two Biostatistics professors make more money than JTIII. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing that our professors are paid well, I just didn't know that Biostats was such a lucrative field.

Was it just me or did a) the clock start WAY too late and b) Sosa traveled. I think WV got screwed... He certainly didn't dribble once he crossed the 3 point line.

I just love that Nova and its fans are really confident about this game, it will just make the double-digit win all the more the sweet. I am with RDF, I think we are way overrating Nova because they happened to play us "tough." They beat us once at home because we basically slept walked through the game. The road game was a typical road game in the Big East. After all, we didnt look that sharp against Cincinnati either, but I wouldnt say they played us tough. Everything about Nova's ability against us is based off of a crappy game we played in the beginning of the season. Exactly. We're a different team now than we were in January. We are probably overhyping Nova and probably underhyping Louisville and, as much as it pains me to say it, ND & WVU. (Even though the latter two turned in some very underwhelming performances away from home this season.) That said, Nova was one of only three teams to beat us this year and it's a shame we have to play them in our opening round.

I think our team will show a bimodal distribution vis a vis the offensive output. I think I know what that means... and I think it like it.

Reynolds & Sumpter carried that team today. They both looked pretty good but I'm not overly worried about Sumpter and we've proven that we are able to overcome with one player going off.
That said, how on earth did Nova back into the #9 seed? They play us unbelievably tough and then don't bother to get off the bus for most other games?

Apparently you don't have to be much of a scholar to be the Scholar/Athlete of the Year. Having a GPA over 3.0 isn't necessarily anything to boast about in and of itself. Maybe he gets great grades, but if you're going to name him the scholar/athlete of the year, tell me how great they are! Color me unimpressed.

Yeah, but they have a game today in the conference we play in that has a direct impact on our game tomorrow. But no, you're right. There's a giant conspiracy at the WaPo to insult Georgetown at every available opportunity. They're all biased against us, while we're obviously perfectly objective. Please. Why aren't we receiving front page coverage of the Miami Hurricanes or the Duke/NC State matchup then? Both of those games have direct impacts on local teams' games tomorrow. The point is not that I am some conspiracy nut who thinks the world is out to get him. The point is that two local players each won awards yesterday. One of those awards was more meaningful than the other and the winner of that award also plays for a very successful local program, yet the other player got his picture front and center. A strange editorial decision, in my mind. Look, its not a Post conspiracy against Georgetown, it's a very rational business decision. More of their readers are Maryland fans than Georgetown fans. Papers across the country purposely write stories that are of interest to the greatest number of subscribers possible. But, as is natural for anyone who craves coverage of their sports team, I dislike seeing other teams get more coverage than my team. Call me irrational if you want, call me selfish if you want, but I simply don't like opening up the paper every day and reading about Maryland & UVA.
