With many on the board, I find it a bit unnerving that so many "experts" are predicting G'Town to at least make it to the regional finals, if not the Final Four, if not win the whole enchilada!
Yet despite all the accolades, I feel like we've stumbled onto a bizarre paradox: many "experts" and other outlets are picking G'Town to win, but few are actually talking about the team itself, other than a sentence or two in passing.
I feel as if many articles discussing the East Rutherford region, and the bracket in general, are focusing on the potential TX-UNC matchup, Durant or any other number of variables, yet in the end concede the region to G'Town. Luke Winn's article comes to mind, but I know there are more.
What to make of all this? Sign of respect? Huge insult? Many obviously like the team's chances, but seem reluctant to talk about them in any significant detail. Are the Hoyas - in some bizzaro way - flying in under the radar?
I'm bored... needed something to talk about...

I don't know how many of these so-called "experts" have actually watched Georgetown closely. Yeah, the run to end the season was very special...but it's even more special when you look at how Georgetown did it.
By that, I mean that the style of play of this team, and the team's composure and poise, are well-suited to extended success. They may not make it to the Final Four or anywhere close, but I don't see this team just blowing up like some other teams can.
An example is Virginia (my undergrad school; I went to Georgetown Law), who can beat anyone or lose to anyone on any given night (I fully expect them to lose to Albany in round one, btw). Georgetown is much less susceptible to wild swings in the quality of their play, due primarily to JTIII's system.

Easy: UNC-Texas is much more exciting (at least for the average-Joe fan) than any of our possible initial games. Lots of athletes and scoring is what a lot of fans want to see.
Also, unlike UNC and Texas, we don't have a huge fan base. Hoya fans don't watch as much TV or buy as many papers as fans from those schools. I think that explains most of it.

There is a very, very fine line between feeling slighted because the Hoyas don't get enough coverage and getting nervous about getting too much coverage. I really liked hearing the talking heads' diatribes about how strong of a team we are, but I kind of want them to just shut up now.

Yeah, I wish we could just be ignored and sneak up on people.

Sorry, #2 seeds don't sneak up on anyone. We can stop tiptoeing now . . . The Beast of the East is back, and it looks like everyone knows it!!

I know. Just saying that that is preferable to getting all the pub!
Of course, all the pub helps with the recruiting, so can't complain about that.

This is the quote from the Philly Daily News article...I really think this sums up the prevailing thought about us.
"Finally, I settled on a team that won't beat itself, can win if it doesn't shoot well, has a unique style and has a star for the big moments. I like Georgetown."
Teams will in many cases find away to lose games in the NCAAs just as much as find ways to win. Playing smart and within yourself is always key. Plus, we don't rely on one thing or player or style to win. We can win with shooting, inside, defense, fast pace, slow pace etc.
That is very rare in a college team. You can take something away from us and we can still win. It's kind of the Bill Belichek style of coaching...take away what the other teams does best and go from there. You can't do that with us.
Plus, we have the guy who can will a team to win if he has to do it...
The irony is most teams spend time worrying about Roy because Green to some degree is unstoppable. He can score in so many ways that you might as well try and take away Roy. Every team that has had success against us has worked hard to take away Roy. Nova aggressively fronted him, Cuse played an active zone, ND played run and gun.

you can't have your cake and eat it too. would you rather win the big east title, be a 2 seed, and have everyone on the bandwagon or lose in the finals, be a 3 seed, and have no one talking about you, like pitt? easy answer IMO.

Is this an answer to my initial post? If so, I don't follow. My point is merely how odd it is that most writers have picked G'Town to win their region, yet spend their entire time analyzing the region by looking at UNC, Durant, upsets they are "certain" about, etc. Hardly a mention of the team they pick to win.

Give me the bullseye every time. We've had it in the past and I'd gladly wear the bullseye than "surprise" some people like last year.
I mean it was a great run last year, but I like being a #2 seed and the hot team...let's see the guys live up to the hype!
