Gray is the recipient of this year's "Big East/Aeropostale Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year."
Nice consolation prize.
From the Big East press release:
"Gray, a communications and rhetoric major at Pittsburgh, currently boasts a cumulative grade point average over 3.0."
Nice to know he's not shy about his academic prowess.
I think Jeff Green would rather boast about being a member of the Big East Regular Season Champion/Big East Tournament Champion/National Champion 2006-07 Georgetown Hoyas.
Just a guess.

Actually, from what we know about Jeff, he probably would be pretty proud to boast about his academics! Don't have idea about his GPA, but he certainly seems like a kid who applies himself in the classroom as well.

Apparently you don't have to be much of a scholar to be the Scholar/Athlete of the Year. Having a GPA over 3.0 isn't necessarily anything to boast about in and of itself. Maybe he gets great grades, but if you're going to name him the scholar/athlete of the year, tell me how great they are! Color me unimpressed.

Tell me Jon Wallace's GPA isn't higher. Puh-leeze Aaron. Some majors are good at Pitt and then there's Aaron's (and that friend of mine who was an aquatics major for awhile).
Again Aaron, enjoy your future as a fry cook at Yocco's.

Not that I'm an Aaron Gray fan, but isn't the second definition of the word boast here being used? I think the author was using boast here to mean "to possess" instead of "to speak of with pride". I don't think that this article meant to say he goes around bragging about his GPA. Anyhoo, his clear inferiority to the awesomeness that is Roy or Jeff is enough to mock him for. No need to make stuff up.

I'm absolutely with DaHoya here. I'm no Aaron Gray apologist, and I doubt he's really the best scholar among the Big East's decent basketball players, but all this press release meant is that he boasts a grade point average of 3.0 like Jeff Green boasts a points per game average of 13.6. Doesn't mean Jeff walks around telling everyone he scores 13.6 a game.
