When I was at the Wynn in Vegas 2 weeks ago it was 10:1 for NCAA champs. I didn't bite because the odds seemed too low. I mean, this team is effing good but 10:1 this far out is ridic. I did happily put down $50 on the Michigan game at -14.5, which I flew back for later that day. May have been the only person in the arena with a legal bet on the game. Cool story, Hansel!

3)I will laugh once the official measurements come out and some of these folks (Love and Riek in particular and possibly Beasley) while Hibbert, without shoes, will end up a tad higher than his listing. And since folks are increasingly including the height of the players with shoes (which bumped Aaron Gray up to 7'2) then Hibbert will be at least 7'4 in shoes. I've always thought Roy 'looked taller' than his 7'2" listing. Maybe it's that other listing are inflated or maybe its that he's grown (?) I think you are spot on here. It's not like Roy is 24 and is competing against 19 year olds--which would actually be a pretty serious problem for Roy. He is competing with players a year or two younger who have been playing against high schoolers for the past three years. I understand the allure of "raw" and "potential" but I really hope others understand the allure of actually developing against legit prospects.

This is kind of like the talk about Jonathan Wallace being the most under rated guard in the country. Eventually, this talk leads to people being 'rated' or even over-rated--though that hardly seems to be a problem in Wallace's or DaJuan's case.
As an aside, there seems to be one story that gets rehashed by the media all year long (last year was JTIII & PEjr following in their fathers' footsteps), I really hope this doesn't become this year's main media fix.

I hesitate to even respond .... I thought I made it intuitively clear that I understand how a thread about Bama basketball could be considered as worthy material for Hoya Hoops talk, given the circumstances. All I was pointing out was that I doubt such latitude would have been extended, had I been the one to initially bring it up. That's because--per usual--the post would have been about YOU or Florida and certainly wouldn't have been centered around a weakness in the game of an upcoming Hoyas opponent.

As for Georgetown, per usual, the ranking will take care of itself as the season moves along. No need to worry about some clown from Illinois ruining anything for us. As much as I hated these debates last year, I think Bubb is onto something here. As a fan, it is great to be ranked near the top mainly because it's easier to get highlights. Other than that, it literally means nothing. I can live with getting a vote at #11

Am I the only one who thinks these covers look incredibly cheesy? Virtually all of the covers feature rather awkward poses and some even looked to be photshoped together. Last year's cover wins in a landslide

This is kind of a strange article in that Bilas is lamenting the loss of the college game's 'truly great' stars by disregarding the actual stars who are actually playing college ball today. Why not make a composite team of real and imaginary college stars to show not only how many great players there are in college, but how much better the game would be if players stayed three or four years?
Royski- I doubt dajuan was inferring that minor league ball is as popular as MLB. I think even our friend from Burleef understands the disparity there. He was merely pointing out that the sour grapes-tone at the end of Bilas' article is ridiculous.

We never had these problems when Craig Esherick was the Coach. Just sayin', that's all... You're right Cam. It's not realistic to expect to be able to get tickets for the West Virginia game every year.

Suburbs? Stinks? Hair gel? Trash? Bubbrubb needs to break out, "What exit are you from?" to take this to the next level of originality. The rapier-like wit is too much for us simple Jersey folk. Why can't Jersey number its exits like the rest of the country? The Jersey pike's sytem is just terrible.

Anyway its irrelevant Jersey could be the next Afghanistan and I'd still rather live there than Minny. I'll go ahead and call your bluff on that one.

Oh man, don't make me start throwing out statistics about my fair Garden State's capita income and other markers as compared to, say, Minnesota . This thread has some potential. Not quite sure what it has to do with Josh Hairston any more, but there is definitely some potential... Your state is a suburb

Not to take anything away from Roy's honor, but I've never really understood what "Preseason Player of the Year" means. Does it mean 'this is how we see the season playing out, with this guy winning the POY at the end of the year' or is it more just a general 'this is the most hyped guy coming into this year'?

Just a point of clarification for Jay: while both teams will be on the rise, I wouldn't call Syracuse-UConn a "no-brainer" for a great game this year.
