This is an aweful story for sure - but we do need to hear the other side of the story. I'm thinking of the Duke Lax team here - its hard not to jump to conclusions but without both sides of the story it would be irresponsible to blame Dops for this. That said - I know DOPS are really good at breaking up parties on/off campus, riding segways (I only wish I was still a student when they got these), and sleeping in a parked car outside the front gates. Favorite DOPS story for me...I left my wallet in the laundry room during Sophomore year. I went to DOPS to see if someone had turned it in; thankfully a DOPS officer was in the laundry room shortly after I was and picked up the wallet. They had taken everything out of the wallet so they gave me the contents to inventory and make sure nothing was missing. I was so concerned with my ATM card, liscense and Cash that I didn't notice the most important card I had in my wallet. I said this was everything, they said... "Are you sure you aren't missing anything?" I replied no and signed a voucher. I got the wallet and contents back and about 10 steps outside the DOPS door I realized I had my fake ID in the wallet. DOPS took my fake ID, didn't question me on it, just kept it. I hated them at the time I mean I could have been holding the ID for a friend??? In retrospect - I find it hilarious. I'm pretty sure the DOPS guy took the 20 I had in the wallet and sold the ID - either way... hilarious story. Identity theft is not a joke, Joey! Millions of families suffer every year!

Hold on... we were going to build a tunnel to connect Georgetown to Foggy Bottom?? Why on earth would we have done this? ?

Read the release again, and you'll understand why this building will be obsolete the day it opens, because it's more of a faculty building than a true science building. The fundamental problem with the sciences at Georgetown is that GU still acts as if traditional biology, chemistry, and physics is the sciences. The 21st century will demand attention to issues Georgetown isn't even in the same time zone with, from biometrics and information assurance (which a school like GU could get millions in funding if it were an active participant) to the emerging concepts in applied science and AI, not to mention the huge issues of integrating public science and health through networked technolgies. These are issues that affect all four schools, but if it's not related to pre-med, it's not in the mix. I'm afraid the building will be a nice new home for the faculty, but without the big picture thinking to ask what science in the US is going to be in 25 or 50 years, which is the lifespan of this building. DFW, Are you saying that basic research won't be important to 21st century research or are you saying that the key to a successful science program is the ability to integrate the basic & the applied research? I would hope the latter.

If you want her to leave, just tell her that you are an active member in good standing on an internet message board. That oughta do the trick. The trick, Mr. Rubb, is to only reveal this information AFTER tackling the gazelle. Otherwise, it works agaisnt you.

If you see him rubbing pot roast all over his chest, look out. One thing this does is make it easier for those with Metro Smartrips living in the suburbs to get to Georgetown/GU. Perhaps we could see this as Step One in making an on-campus arena (or the MSF) relatively easy to get to for DC area residents. Other things I enjoye: -Digging up graves -Building cages with bones Austin, I agree completely. Taking this to the next step, now that the blue buses are out of the picture, we can finally begin real progress on an on-campus arena. Given my stated dislike of those things, I think it is fair to blame the blue buses for the current lack of progress.

I have to disagree here. The blue buses just don't cut it. When they were $0.75 (4 years ago), they turned me away because I had a dollar bill and not three quarters--wouldn't even let me chip in for the person behind me. About a year later, they raised their prices to $1. This is fine and dandy, but compare this to the Circulator or any 30 bus. The blue buses came every 15 minutes and took you 1/2 of a metro stop away. The Circulator comes every 5 minutes and takes you to Union station. Both used to cost the same. Likewise, stand on the corner of Wisconsin & M and try to wait longer than 5 minutes for a 30 bus to come. It just doesn't happen.
Then last year, with some lame "to better serve our valued customers" reasoning, the blue bus offered "more frequent" buses and raised their prices to $1.50--more than the circulator, any bus, or inter-DC metro rides.
What's more, the blue buses don't take Smart trips. This fact alone is grounds for disliking the buses.
The reason the circulator is slow is because it drives along busy streets. The bus itself is not a "slow" bus incapable of reaching street-legal speeds. The speed of buses along the old blue bus routes is dictated largely by traffic, not the engines of the buses.
The blue buses were lame & weak and I, for one, won't miss them in the slightest.

I only post about the hoya because it's the only thing at Georgetown that really Editedes me off these days. Some of their editors are/have been really irresponsible and they have a huge impact on the community. How does calling for an official's resignation in the absence of a preponderance of evidence have a huge impact on the community? I rarely, if ever, engaged in lively debates with the community over articles written in the Hoya. You may not always agree with their writing or their editorial viewpoints (which are, after all, viewpoints of a group of individuals) but to paint a picture of a campus ready to strike down officials even without sufficient evidence simply because the Hoya editorial baord publishes irresponsible articles is, dare I say, irresponsible.

Lost in the hubbub of the students' costumes and quotes was this fact: apparently the Verizon ticket gestapo's only weakness is a press pass. I honestly am surprised that this guy was allowed to go anywhere in the arena except his actual, ticketed seat, the concourse, and the bathroom.

I don't think it's a sense of entitlement. I think the kid might have been referencing the vandalism on campus when talking about pitt "doing dirty"... If our retaliation for them vandalizing our campus is some enthused students wearing costumes to a basketball game, we're in good shape not to replicated dook. huh? how do u connect the two? the article says in part: ".........For example, Andrew Leighton, who was in the mayhem behind the East backboard, wearing no shirt and a Pikachu mask. I asked him why. Something (excitement, perhaps?) prevented us from having a coherent exchange of information, but luckily his friend, Colin Behr, stepped in. "Cuz he's dirty man, he's dirty," Colin explained. "You do dirty, you get dirty done to you. We're Georgetown, we don't mess around." i do not see the connection as vandalism on campus was never mentioned Reading between the lines here, I'm guessing that the phrase "do dirty" could refer to doing something dirty or mean. Vandalizing the opponent school's property would qualify in my book as doing something dirty or mean.

This is also a good opportunity to point out to people who were offended by RR part 2 that far more offensive stuff goes on at Verizon center than students yelling "You suck" at the other team.

I can't believe the Post printed the picture of the passed out, markered-on guy on their site. For those that didn't notice, he has the thing that makes a male a male on his right cheek. The Post has no problem with that??

The '06 class gift was Reis park improvements. Unfortunately, there have been a series of similarly bureaucratic delays that prevented it from being completed (or started for that matter) by homecoming.

And a note on how difficult it may be to change the "football culture" at any school: at Homecoming on November 18 vs. ECU, Rice was 5-5 and had won 4 in a row. Attendance was 12,669, close to average for the Owls, and many Rice alums didn't make it through the gates, choosing to drink in the parking lot instead. This certainly wouldn't be a very significant shift from Georgetown's current football "culture." It seems like every year the athletic department tries harder and harder to get alumns and students to hang around after the homecoming tailgate.... and each year, the vast majority file out the second the beer truck shuts down.

Is this a typo on SI's part or on the AP's part, since that's who wrote the actual story? I guess I would be even more disappointed if it was the AP's fault. Come on!!

Roy and Vern look too similar in the game. Having not seen the game, I'm pretty glad we not only have a 7'2" All American center on our team , but also another guy who is easily confused with a 7'2" All American center.

The thing about KenPom's projections, as he readily admits/announces, is that they are just that, PROJECTIONS, rather than PREDICTIONS. I only project, never predict. Also, I always measure my height with shoes on.

He even does a mediocre job of screening his own chats. Is he honestly proud enough of his "with your mom" comeback that he allows these questions in?

Some of you on this board are clueless. I have tried to put up with the new regime, but I am and never will be a homer. I call it llike I see it, always have, always will That being said, let me find a board with fans that can actually speak the truth, and not ignore flaws in their team in addition to not ignoring bigot comments. Have fun in your candy land like board where all is good every single game Yeah, you could look at it like that. Or, you could look at the first seven games of a college season as just that. We're 6-0 this season (looking down the barrel of a 7-0 start) and were 4-3 in our final four season last year. If you are seriously angry with Roy or any other Hoya for that matter, you might want to reevaluate things. These are amatuer athletes representing Georgetown extremely well and winning basketball games. We've got the record, the ranking, the players, and the coaches. I'm not sure how refusing to buy into your hype that Roy is not a great college backetball player will help me enjoy this season any more. Call me ignorant if you want, but I would prefer to enjoy this year's team for what it is (undefeated and ranked #4) than wait for another year with a more perfect team with a more perfect 7'2" center. EDIT: Jumped the gun on 7-0.

nothing but oxygen molecules in between him and the rim To be fair, there's also a lot of nitrogen, some argon, and some CO2 in the mix as well.
