Ha, the consolation (aside from lots of money) for the A-10 giving up Barclays for 2017 is the Nassau Colosseum? Ouch. They should just play their tournament at the Palestra. I'm not even sure it's a guarantee that Nassau Colosseum is still standing in 3 years. That building is the definition of hole.

Adam Zagoria @adamzagoria Jay Bilas on ACC to Barclays to @snytv: "It helps everybody. It would be the hottest ticket in basketball." Jay Bilas to @snytv: "The Big East doesn't exist anymore. I know there's a name out there, but the Big East doesn't exist." And yet, the Big East still has a higher conference RPI than the ACC this year...

Turned the sound on momentarily during the ACC Tournament yesterday and heard Sean McDonough whine for 90 straight seconds about Joe Linardi not having Syracuse as a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse wasn't actually playing, of course, so it was a pure Dick Vitale moment. Raftery would have at least made fun of him for it, but Bilas largely smiled and nodded. Miss the exposure of ESPN (for now), but sure as hell don't miss the people who run it or use it for their personal platforms. They can whine for another 12 years because Brooklyn is never going to be the Garden.

I'm not even sure it's a guarantee that Nassau Colosseum is still standing in 3 years. That building is the definition of Editedhole. I understand that the backup plan for the A-10 is the Long Island Marriott ballroom across the parking lot from the Nassau Coliseum. They might actually sell that ballroom out.

I know there's a name out there, but the Big East doesn't exist." I understand that these guys are biased, but what does that even mean? The Big East of the 2000s doesn't exist any more, but it's silly to say it doesn't exist at all. I suppose there's a phantom occupying Madison Square Garden then. Luckily, the Big East has quite a while to establish itself before the ACC will even have a chance to take a crack at Madison Square Garden. Still, let's take a look at the ACC's bottom half RPIs. They have Maryland (75), Miami (110), Wake Forest (112), Georgia Tech (155), Notre Dame (137), Boston College (197), and Virginia Tech (243). Adding Louisville next year and removing Maryland helps a little, but that's still a very large number of bad teams. And many of those teams are perennially bad. The ACC has more extremes at each end and will get more bids because of its size, but I would not say top to bottom it's really any better. If the Big East can get 2-3 top 25 teams every year, I think that we'll be in fine shape.

People also seem incapable of doing basic math. If the Big East gets 4 bids, and the ACC gets 6, that's proportionally almost identical. Even the A-10 has 13 teams. The fact that the Big East isn't getting 6 or 7 teams in should not be shocking to anybody.

Speaking of having trouble selling tickets...anyone know how well the BET has been doing? Night 1 looked about 1/3 full to me.

I thought the bldg looked ok on Day 1, but things aren't going to get better with a final four of SHU/Provy/Xavier/Creighton.

I went to yesterday's day and night sessions and liked the crowd for both - Creighton travels VERY well and there was good energy in the building all day long - the test is tonight I think - Friday night double header has to be sold out and electric

Not sure how much this means but my 200 level seats that I put on stubhub for each session after our loss have sold for a little above face value each time. There seems to be demand - and the fan bases for the two programs in the early game tonight are starved for success and will likely represent well. And I can't get over the Creighton crowd - I know it's a special year for them but a LOT of this folks came a very long way to be at MSG for this. It's damn impressive. They've been a fantastic addition to the conference so far.
Overall I've been pleasantly surprised at how things have gone at the Garden this year. Makes me more optimistic about the conference's future.

Also, putting aside the turf war stuff - put both the big east tourney and the acc in New York City at the same time - what an amazing week of college basketball that would be. If there was a way to bounce back and forth between the two venues, that hoops Nirvana for fans. Much better the attending a final four weekend.

I checked out prices on Stub Hub, and I was actually quite surprised that tickets for tonight's games are actually much higher than expected. In fact, I'd say they are comparable to prices I have seen in years past. Granted, I just looked at Ticketmaster. There are still a lot of really bad seats available, but it's not awful either.
Considering we have 6 less schools and the existing 10 have much smaller student bodies, I think it's better than I expected it would be.

The slander coming out of Bristol is really starting to make me upset and it's getting to the point where I can't even stomach watching that network. Then don't. I MIGHT watch some 30 for 30s on Netflix. Other than that, I've totally written off ESPN. Fox can fill the SportsCenter void.

Well, I wonder how much the Carolina boys are enjoying Pitt wipe the Greensboro floor with the Tar Heels right now. The only thing worse I imagine would be them having to walk out of Barclay's center after suffering a loss to a former BE team in front of all their loud and obnoxious northeast fans.....

FWIW--Announced attendance figures for A10, ACC and Big East Tourneys so far:
A10: Wed Night-1 game (Fordham v GMU) 3842 TH Day: 6823 TH Night: 6107
ACC: Wed- 3 games plus Scotty McCreary concert after 7pm game: 10,945 TH Day: 21,533 TH Night: 21,533
Big East: W: 13,177 TH Day: 14,925 TH Night: 13,807
ACC does not include the Wednesday 1st Rd games in the Tourney Ticket Books. Sold tickets for $45 including the concert
Also explains why Barclays Center is trying to make a deal with the A10 to move them.

I must admit that there's a dark place inside me that wants the old BE teams to whip that ACC behind. I'm glad that Pitt is beating UNC, but then again, I'm not, cause it's POS Pitt. Actually, meteor game...

Nate Britt with the choked layup for the loss. Wonder if his dad will say he's still injured?
