Wasn't Monroe in the same class as Clark and Sims? Pretty good core guy. This is true, though I think it's harder to have a core guy when a guy leaves after 2 years (HOPING I'M WRONG!)

Is everyone forgetting last year. We were supposed to have "depth" then too. With Sapp and Summers providing "veteran" leadership, freeman, and wright having another year under their belts and monroe, clark, simms making the "sophomore leap" as well as adding Vaughn. We all know how that turned out. It's okay to be excited. I'm excited - but lets not set the expectations too high. The team needs to play hard everyday; get better as the season progresses and see what happens in the post season. What are you talking about? Last year's expectations for this year or last year itself? If the former, Sapp graduated and no one expected Summers to be around. If the latter, how could Monroe, Clark, and Sims make sophomore leaps as freshman? Yeah, I really have no idea what that original post was about. Like SF said, the poster must be mixing years, but isnt that sort of the whole point? If you mix up the years and players, the argument makes no sense.

Indana fans are throwing a hissy-fit over this commitment (albeit a very tame one because their boards have one of the most polite tenors I've ever seen) mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=170&f=2353&t=5766616&p=29They seem to have reached a consensus that Moses himself wanted Indiana but he was railroaded into GU by his handler. Frankly, the evidence for this seems rather sketchy, though with the twists and turns this recruitment process has taken, I suppose it is difficult to identify one way or another. I have an "alternative theory" that Moses just really liked Indiana (as a lot of recruits would) and chose Georgetown anyway. Regardless, I hope this commitment remains solid, Indiana fans seem to think it isn't.

Big difference when Wallace (the QB for 4 years), Hibbert (7'2" NBA player) & Patrick Ewing Jr. (heart & soul) all graduated and left VOIDS. Next year if Greg comes back the PG (Wright), one of the best offensive players in the conference (Freeman) and a 6'11" blend of amazing skills (Monroe) are all back with experience and more depth. The new players will be looked to for contributions but the engine of the team returns with SOMETHING TO PROVE.

Their evidence is that, at minimum, a third party person said "He loved IU" and wanted to discuss a with his family and guardian when he got home - that second point has morphed into an IU commitment with no basis.
They ignore that he loved GU as well, and was going to commit to us before Crean got involved.

If Moses turns out to be a better shotblocker than Dikembe (354 blocks in 96 games = 3.69 BPG) or Alonzo (453 blocks in 120 games = 3.8 BPG), I'll eat my shoe. There were two players that averaged north of those kind of stats this year in college hoops - Dallas Lauderdale and Colton Iverson.

I have a feeling his mind was made up before he ever visited IU. But he visited just to do his due diligence and as a courtesy to a very interested coach. He really liked IU (nothing wrong with that), but just not enough to pull him away from his original decision.
That all makes perfect sense to me. No conspiracy theory.

Georgetown. Are you kidding me! Georgetown? (I'm using Allen Iverson's voice when he talks about practice!) Georgetown? Come on man, we are talking about Georgetown. It it was down to Indiana or Kansas. If it was down to Indiana or North Carolina. If it was down to Indiana or UCLA I could get it. But Indiana or Georgetown? Indiana wipes its posterior with the accomplishments of a school like Georgetown. It's just a ridiculous comparison, and I'm also sick of the Big Man U crap. What big have they produced? Ewing? Mutumbo? Mouring? Good grief that was 25 years ago! What big man have they produced in the last 12 years? Roy Hibbert? If it's Indiana v. Georgetown then that isn't a decision at all. That's Indiana every day and twice on Sunday. ANYBODY can see that." lol. good times.

someone mentioned whether signing Moses puts us in the top 10 for the recruting team rankings (for the record, I saw rival doesnt list us at all in the top 20). I really wouldnt worry about that - we didnt get a John Wall freshman or a Wes Johnson transfer, but I am excited we added depth exactly when we need it and get four year players and ones who seem to already embrace gtown.
Besides, these things have a way of sorting themselves out (we were lucky to get Starks instead of Marshall, no one saw Wes Johnson blowing up the way he did, frosh Derrick Williams wasn't ranked last yr but is now a future draft pick or even Darius Johnson Odom wasnt ranked but clearly had an impact at Marquette).

Missed him on the list. I think my point still stands. Ha, yeah, I didn't mean to imply that Jared Jeffries somehow changed that entire calculus. So we've put as many players in the NBA in the last 3 years as IU currently has. But, Keith Smart happened 23 years ago (although definitely not going to hate on any shot that kept Syracuse from a championship). IU has a great history, greater than ours and all but a small elite group of schools. But, they haven't done all that much in the past few and have had a distinct lack of continuity in the past decade. Anyone who thinks successes of the past 30 years should always trump the lack of success in the last 6 is mistaken.

Missed him on the list. I think my point still stands. I like your spirit TBird, but if the point is NBA players, we only have one more in the league, if you choose to count AI as in the league. There are other reasons why we rule...players in the NBA would not be my go-to. hm

The point TBird was refuting was that IU was far and away better than Gtown, in fact, that we shouldnt even be in the tradition, history or current success conversation. By all 3 accounts, that is fooey.

This was my thought process too. After Crean came to visit twice, if feels like the right thing to do was visit IU and give him his chance. But I never really saw how a kid in the country for 5 months would leave what little he knows in the US and go to Bloomington. If he was initially located in Indianapolis instead of DC I would have expected him to go to IU. It is just that simple, he wants to feel as comfortable as possible and at GU he felt like he belonged and was still close to those he knew in the area.

Assuming we can dream....any thoughts on a starting line up of Abraham 6'9", Monroe 6'10", Hollis 6'8", Freeman 6'4", Wright 6'1"? I kinda like this with Clark, Vaughn, Lubick, Markel, Vee, JB and HS as 6-12 off the bench.

(or have JT2 do a better job of violating NCAA regulations and bring in more recruits).
