Oh, did we make the big east tourney. I thought all the "lucky wins" didn't count for the post season. ;D

Except when we (potentially) have to face Syracuse and UConn on our side of the bracket. It would be incredible to beat both of those teams on the way to a title.

That's why you've gotta cheer for the Flu to beat Boeheim today. Not only would it end the Orange's tourney hoops, it would keep them away from us.
Go MQ!

Nah - I WANT the opportunity to beat them. Hopefully, we'll also get the opportunity to beat Pitt, though that would likely be in the finals. Taking out Memphis in the Elite Eight or Final Four would complete our payback games.
One can dream...

Emotionally, SUcks, UCon and Louisville would be very satisfying, but when you get rational, that would be incredibly tough. Cincy, Marquette and ND would be better. When you look at it though, there ain't no easy road. Will not matter. GO HOYAS!!!

I don't want to face Cuse...
but it wouldn't be all that bad, considering...
their lack of depth and it would be their 2nd game in as many days

POST SPORTS BLOG PSThompson also said that Chris Wright will likely play in the Big East Tournament. What a stroke of good luck!

From the post-game interview:
"'We're still sitting at the table,'' Thompson said. ''The game's still going on. Cards are still being played. The dice is still in someone's hand. So we can't pick ourselves up and start to feel good right now. We've got to keep playing.''

If there is ANY team in the league that I WANT to face during the tournament this season, it’s Syracuse. I’m telling you they will rue the day they play the Hoyas a third time this season. They got a double digit spanking waitin’ for ‘em if they have to face us. Take it to the bank.
Oh, and BTW, if we EVER have trepidation at the prospect of squeezing the Orange, then Jack might as well try and paw his way into Westminster, ‘cause the Hoya heydays in the Garden will be over.

Syracuse would give us a super-tough emotional game that we do not need in the first round. The Orange always play beyond themselves when they confront us and the only way they can insure getting to the NCAA this year is to win the Big East Title outright with its automoatic bid. As much as I would love to beat them, I don't want that much emotion and energy to be spent in the first round game when we have to play two more.
I f we do have to play them I hope we have Chris Wright so that our guards won't be exhausted for days 2 and 3.

I don't disagree with any of these Syracuse comments. The fact is, though, that we are likely facing a very tough first game regardless if the 8/9 game is Syracuse/Villanova, since every Villanova game seems to feature some sort of weirdness.

Oh ye of so little faith. I'm telling you, there are not two teams the Hoyas will be more up for than Syracuse and Pitt. I frankly think 'Nova would give us a tougher game.

I don't want to play Cuse, because that means Cuse would have won their first round game. I want them to lose that game and miss the NCAA Tournament again.

I think Nova would be as tough or a tougher opponent. But while I relish the thought of the Hoyas beating Boeheim's whiners in the BET, the fact of the matter is, the Garden and New York City in general, are much more attractive, pleasant places to be when Cuse is dismissed, as they should be, in their first game. The troglodytes flee north to the NY hinterlands, or east to the Oy-land, and all is right with the basketball world for the next few days!

I absolutely agree that I'd rather they lose their first round game. My point, though, is that I am not frightened at the prospect of playing them. Being scared of a team would be truly unHoyalike behavior. 90% of the Garden rooting against us? Where y'all been? Shoot, that's the kind of atmosphere we thrive on. It has been ever thus....
