Also Q needs to pass it out quicker from the double/triple team in order for Carey to get more touches and involved in the offense. Too much time comes off the clock when Q holds the ball against the double team. I agree, but the spacing we use often leaves Wahab double or triple teamed with nobody to pass to. See the attached photo. While he's not double teamed here, there are many similar instances where he is. The offense needs better spacing. Yes, need a shooter in the near side corner. But Qudus is somewhat of a black hole, not many passes out of the post.

Our guards can’t get caught by the Scottie Reynolds head fake. C State ran a set with 5 players behind the three point line and got good looks, which they missed. We can’t rely on missing against Nova.

Ya know, it's getting to the point where just posting a concern or opinion on this board risks getting slammed with personal ridicule and sarcasm. Reasonable refutation is healthy; that's how we learn from each other and enjoy our collective fandom. Personal ridicule isn't healthy or fun in my opinion. Well, some people don’t think at all before they post opinions or concerns, yet publicly slander members of the program we claim to be fans of. I guess you support just spewing any uninformed nonsense regardless of its impact, huh? You know another way of learning from each other that is reasonable? Listening (and not saying anything) when you know you don’t know what you’re talking about. If you don’t get the answers you’re looking for immediately, usually a little patience brings them to the surface. Yes people should be cordial, but folks also should defer to folks with actual experience and understanding instead of being like “well I have NO IDEA why this is happening, but it MUST be because the coaches suck or the players are terrible people.” It gets exhausting to read that from people who I assume are mostly adults. The onus is on each and every one of us not to talk out of our ass. Not just here but in real life too. Just curious, by what credentials and “actual experience” are you an expert about this team or college basketball in general. What is your inside info that makes your opinion better than anyone else’s. Who knows why this college freshman is not playing, we have seen it all before, injury, rules violation, academics, etc. When he plays we’ll see what he can do. I do like how your post starts with “some people don’t think at all before they post opinions or concerns...”.

Stop thinking everything that happens with a player, it's Ewing's fault. Stop thinking there's going to be a roster turnover and if it does happen somehow, it's Ewing's fault. The fact of the matter is roster turnover happens all the time and it isn't because it is somehow the coach who is the problem. It's not Ewing's fault if Chris Sodom or Antwan Walker got into trouble. It's not his fault if LeBlanc, Alexander, and Gardner went the wrong way. It's not his fault if Akinjo and McClung decided they could do better elsewhere. A coach is not responsible for decisions of 19 and 20 year old students, but he is accountable. Recruiting and roster management is part of the job, and poor choices and missed opportunities to straighten people out have led to where the roster is now. The staff cannot afford a revolving door of recruits--both competitively and within those in the University he must answer to. Roster turnover is absolutely corrosive to a team. It's what did in Craig Esherick and played a big role for JT III's downfall as well. Ewing needs to recruit and keep his team together, Otherwise, it's perpetual rebuilding and Wednesday nights in March at the Garden TFN. Or consider this: here's a picture of the roster from just two years ago with those that are still here as highlighted. And that's a problem. In fairness didn’t 8 of those players graduate.

Since every player needs an NBA player comparison, here you go. I don’t remember Stacy Augmon taking jump shots and there are none in the highlight reel, but he was a 72.8% career FT shooter. ballislife.com/stacey-augmon-the-plastic-man/

I thought this was the Berger thread, not the bash Reggie Cameron, an all around good guy, thread.

How many times has that trio scored 30 in a game? The trio of Blair, Pickett, and Wahab scored 30+ in 12 games, 20-29 in 10 games, and 0-19 in 10 games (all 10 of these were before February). MSM 8 UCA 23 PSU 14 GSU 10 UT 24 DU 12 UNCG 14 OSU 5 SMU 38 SU 14 UMBC 37 SU 27 AU 25 PC 25 SHU 17 SJU 25 VU 34 CU 21 MU 19 XU 21 BU 18 SJU 34 SHU 32 DU 44 BU 39 PC 39 DU 27 MU 36 XU 37 CU 53 VU 36 SJU 29 So 9 of the last 11 and let’s not forget about what happened with Wahab in the last of those 11. He, like the rest of us, was sitting on his behind watching a huge lead vanish.

“In 1992, the “Dream Team,” which also included renowned players Christian Laettner, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson, won gold for the United States against Croatia.” Names Dream Team members and goes with Laettner first.

Not sure why ball handling and offense initiation has to be run through the same player every possession. This 100%. The best teams in college the last few years have ran 2 PG and lead ball handler sets (cough cough Villanova, successful UVA (not last season as the didn't have a second PG talent wow maybe that's why their offensive efficiency was so low compared to other years) it really, really works at this level). However, with this relating to Ewing I'm not the most optimistic. He hasn't ran with multiple PGs and I worry that Beard will be used not as a second PG but as a two, which is alarming. When the team went on the post transfer run it was because the “ball wasn’t sticking”. We can do that again as long as someone can hit some outside shots.

At this time he is not a point guard. Maybe he can become one, but don’t think he will start at PG at a high major program. A comment I read a few weeks ago regarding Mac and his pro ball aspirations was that he should work on his Croatian. Now we can all take off our homer glasses and see that he is not an NBA player. High usage player, not a good enough 3 point shooter, handles not good enough to play PG. Always very respectful during post game interviews and exciting to watch at times. But I’m going with the “Ewing Theory” for this one. Regarding players improving under Ewing, I think guys like Govan, Derrickson, and Pickett have for sure.

48th in the nba at anything is pretty great I don’t know about you. And if you had followed the team all season you would know that prior to the injury to his vision (and foot) he was the second best ft shooter in the BE for about 40% of the regular season. So those numbers carry an asterisk, period. Same goes with his 3pt numbers. Dude tried to play through three different injuries/illnesses once we got into conference play...imo you take his numbers with a boulder of salt. And if you step away from the numbers and just look at the human and his jump shot it’s clear he has the ability and foundation to be able to shoot from anywhere on the court....he’s just gotta keep working on it like 99% of college kids. And for those saying he “has to” be a pass-first PG at the next level, the point guard model has been changed for about 10 years now (you’re late). They score, run the P&R and put pressure on defenses these days. I know many don’t see it because they have their doom-and-gloom anti-Hoya glasses on, but Mac is an ELITE scorer by NCAA standards...it’s an ability that has the potential to serve as a foundation for an elite scoring role in the NBA. That’s his comparative advantage, period. 95% of the league are role players....his role would be to score. And he has enough natural passing ability to keep defenses honest. He just needs keep working on picking his spots better. At his pace if were talking ppg, he’s already one of the vest scorers we’ve ever had. Halfway through the season before missing games he was on pace to break Sleepy’s record over four years....do people not realize that? Or people just don’t think it’s impressive? Do people thinks it’s by accident/god-given talent and it’s not because of anything Mac is doing to make it happen? Do people assume all college basketball players work as hard as Mac? McClung, by ability, is debatably a top 5-6 scorer in school history. Had he decided to pursue the four-year route and has the benefit of a little better health he’d have crushed all of our program’s scoring records. Not saying he’s an NBA player this season, but these days you don’t even have to be NBA ready to get drafted. GMs have their own sorts of priorities and pursue different players for different reasons he just needs to find a fit (Brad Stevens eye for talent? Leonisis’ penchant for supercharging the business end of things?). I know, I should have followed the team this season. How did we do? Did anything eventful happen?
