Welcome to the Hilltop TJ! Your 3-pt skills will be useful. Hopefully campus is open in the fall so that you can have a normal Freshman year.
Do we even make shorts that short?

This kid would have been a really good player under JT3 when he was still running the Princeton.

Are we sure TJ got a scholarship? He seemed headed to an Ivy before and his dad is well off.

He seems crafty. Has a similar release to Hollis on his shot.

I'm surprised we went this route so late in the game (especially with the Rutherford tweet that we were in his final 2), but glad to see shooting prioritized.
I was thinking, we now have a starting five of freshman and essentially a RS in Wilson: Beard/Harris, Berger, Clark, Sibley, Wilson. Can't really knock the positional balance. On that point, do we know if Wilson officially Redshirted? Is he considered a freshman next year? All that said, when is the last time we had 6 Freshmen recruits in one class? Seems like a lot.
Assuming Mac is only back for one year, we will have no Seniors in 2021-2022 and only 2 Juniors (Wahab and Igohefe), so presumably we will be hitting that grad transfer market hard again. The impact of last year's departures certainly is having a multi-year impact. That's why although I like Berger's shooting prowess, I was hoping we'd use the slot on a transfer with 2 years of eligibility left so we can have a little more class balance and not need to keep integrating one year rentals.

Maybe, you have to prepare for a transfer or two every season going forward. The dynamics have changed.

JA & JL were never staying 4 years from what I have heard/read. I think GA would have exhausted eligibility after the 2020-2021 season. So, in that sense, really only MG's departure impacts the 2021-2022 class make-up. I think the greater impact of these departures was this past year and this upcoming season, and of course any influence it had on recruiting (including the one de-commit). The staff is clearly working hard to fill holes. A good/stable next season obviously is necessary to help land future high-level recruits and a balanced forward-looking roster.

Maybe, you have to prepare for a transfer or two every season going forward. The dynamics have changed. I think this is very true. It’s really getting tougher to have a player stay all four years for a myriad of factors. Hopefully this class of young men get a chance to stay together and lead a return to prominence as upperclassmen.

I have no real insights into Berger as a player (I am not sure anyone had even heard much about him until yesterday) and I hope he turns into a good player for the Hoyas. His main strength seems to be his shooting, which I think everyone will agree is a need for all college programs these days. As the "13th" guy in the program I would think that the staff might have had some discussions with him, and possibly other recruits, about a possible redshirt year. I could envision a conversation along the lines of "you will have every opportunity to compete for playing time next year, but if it turns out you don't crack the regular rotation we may redshirt you and give you a year to develop your strength and skills". I would think they may have had a similar conversation with Dante Harris and the staff will see which one of the two outplays the other one and earns some playing time next year. I really think Beard, Clark and Sibley will see regular playing time next year. I know some people thought they should pursue a PF for next year (and maybe they did and it just didn't work out) but I think they are Ok with playing Pickett, Sibley and Wilson at the PF spot. It will depend on the match ups with other teams but I think they have enough length to compete at that spot, especially with the rim protection they have with Q and Tim playing the center spot.

Maybe not even during the season. Sure, there is some potential for small ball but if Clark or Sibley transfer, what now?

He seems like a solid shooter. I'm not sure if he's more of a college PG or SG, but his jumper could win some games. I'm still very worried about the potential rotation and the defense, but Berger can clearly shoot it.
